Domain Expiry & Change Monitor (RDAP Whois)
Watch a list of domains and get expiry dates, days left, registrar, status codes, nameservers and DNSSEC, straight from the official RDAP service of each registry (the modern, structured successor of WHOIS). Run it on a schedule and it tells you what changed since the last run and which domains need attention.
Typical uses: never let a client or company domain expire · notice registrar transfers, nameserver changes or a domain going into clientHold / redemptionPeriod · keep an eye on competitor or lookalike domains · check whether a name is still unregistered.
What you get per domain
domain · registered · expiresAt · daysToExpiry · registrar · registrarIanaId · status[] · createdAt · updatedAt ·
nameservers[] · dnssec · alerts[] · changes[] (field, before, after) · firstSeen · rdapServer · checkedAt
Alerts: expiring_soon (within your warning window) · expired · status_client_hold, status_server_hold, status_redemption_period,
status_pending_delete, status_pending_transfer · registrar_changed · nameservers_changed · status_changed · expiry_changed · no_longer_registered
No contact data: registrant/admin/tech contacts are never read into the output, only registry facts and the registrar's name.
Example row (real run, 13.10.2026)
{ "domain": "wikipedia.org", "registered": true, "registrar": "MarkMonitor Inc.", "expiresAt": "2027-01-13T00:12:14Z","daysToExpiry": 91, "status": ["client delete prohibited", "client transfer prohibited", "client update prohibited"],"nameservers": ["ns0.wikimedia.org", "ns1.wikimedia.org", "ns2.wikimedia.org"], "dnssec": false,"alerts": ["expiring_soon"], "changes": [], "firstSeen": false, "rdapServer": "rdap.publicinterestregistry.org" }
Input
{ "domains": ["example.com", "https://www.my-shop.net/", "client-brand.org"], "expiryWarningDays": 30, "outputMode": "changes_and_alerts" }
outputMode: "all"writes every domain every run."changes_and_alerts"writes only domains with a change or an alert, made for daily schedules: a quiet day costs nothing but the start fee.stateStoreNamekeeps one memory per watch list (use different names for different lists).- URLs and
www.are cleaned automatically; duplicates are removed.
Pricing
Pay per event: $0.003 per domain row on the free plan, $0.0027 / $0.0024 / $0.0021 on higher Apify plans. Invalid input, unsupported TLDs,
excluded .de and failed lookups are never charged. A daily check of 100 domains in changes_and_alerts mode usually costs a few cents a month.
Limits, stated up front
- TLD coverage = IANA's RDAP bootstrap (1,200+ TLDs: .com, .net, .org, .app, .dev, .xyz, .uk, .fr, .nl …). TLDs whose registry
offers no RDAP (e.g. .io) are listed in the run's
SUMMARYasunsupportedand not charged. - .de is excluded on purpose: DENIC's RDAP terms limit the use of the data to technical/administrative purposes of internet operation.
- Registries rate-limit. The Actor pauses between lookups (
delayMs, default 1 s) and retries HTTP 429 with backoff. Very large lists take time. daysToExpiryis based on the registry's expiration date; registrars sometimes renew automatically shortly before.
