What you get

One Actor that answers every shape of the exchange-rate question and writes the result as flat dataset rows: latest rates, a single historical day, a full daily time series, and converted amounts. Ask for any base currency and either name the quote currencies you care about or take everything the source publishes.

Unlike exchangeratesapi.io, fixer.io, or openexchangerates.org, none of these require you to register for a key or stay inside a monthly call quota.

Limitations

Exchange rates are reference rates, not executable quotes; they carry no spread, fee, or settlement guarantee. Weekends and holidays have no ECB publication, so a request for such a date returns the preceding published day and both dates are recorded. The widest historical coverage (Currency API) fetches history one day at a time, so very long ranges take longer than the ECB series. Crypto pairs are unavailable from the ECB and FloatRates sources.

FAQ

Is an API key required?

No. Every source used here is free and open.

Which direction is the rate?

rate is how many units of quote_currency one unit of base_currency buys. inverse_rate is the reverse.

Why is date different from the date I requested?

FX reference rates are not published on weekends and holidays. The row then carries the last published date, and requested_date preserves what you asked for.
