🔗 URL Status & Redirect Checker — bulk HTTP status codes

Check thousands of links in minutes: HTTP status code, full redirect chain, final URL, response time, content type and size. Perfect to find broken links (404), redirect loops and slow pages after a site migration, SEO cleanup or link audit. $0.50 per 1,000 URLs.
- ✅ Status code and
okflag for every URL - ✅ Every redirect hop (301/302/307/308) with its target, loops detected
- ✅ Smart mode: tries HEAD (fast) and falls back to GET when a server refuses HEAD
- ✅ Polite: at most 3 requests at once per domain; up to 100,000 URLs per run
- ✅ Private and internal addresses are blocked for safety
How to use it
- Paste your URLs (or load a list).
- Choose the method and the maximum redirects (defaults are fine).
- Run, then download the table as CSV, Excel or JSON, or read it through the API.
Output example
{"url": "http://github.com","status": 200,"ok": true,"finalUrl": "https://github.com/","redirects": [{ "url": "http://github.com", "status": 301, "to": "https://github.com/" }],"responseMs": 45,"contentType": "text/html; charset=utf-8","sizeBytes": null,"error": null}
Result codes: a problem with the link, not with the checker
Every row has a linkStatus code. Anything other than OK means the link you gave has a problem — the checker did its job and tells you exactly what is wrong, in message:
linkStatus | What it means |
|---|---|
OK / OK_REDIRECTED | The link works (status below 400), directly or after redirects |
LINK_BROKEN | The page does not exist (404, 410 and other 4xx) |
BLOCKED_BY_SITE | The website refused the automated check (401, 403, 429…) |
SERVER_ERROR | The website's server answered with an error (5xx) |
TIMEOUT | The website did not answer in time |
DNS_ERROR | The domain does not exist or has no DNS record |
UNREACHABLE | Connection refused or reset |
REDIRECT_LOOP / TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS | The link redirects in a loop or too many times |
INVALID_LINK / PRIVATE_ADDRESS | Not an http(s) link, or it points to a private/internal address |
Example message: "The link is broken: the page does not exist on that website (HTTP 404) — the checker worked correctly; this row is billed because the check was performed."
Pricing
$0.0005 per URL checked ($0.50 per 1,000), including links that turn out to be broken — see Result codes above. Set a maximum cost per run to stay in control.
Notes
- Some sites block automated requests and answer 403 or 429: that is what a bot sees, so the result is reported as is.
- Pair it with our Sitemap URL Extractor to check every page of a website.
FAQ
What does it return for each URL?
One row per URL: final HTTP status code, an ok flag (status below 400), the final URL, every redirect hop, response time in milliseconds, content type and size in bytes. Problems such as timeouts, DNS errors or redirect loops are in error, with a code in linkStatus (LINK_BROKEN, DNS_ERROR, TIMEOUT…) and a plain-language message.
How much does it cost?
$0.0005 per URL checked ($0.50 per 1,000). Every URL in your list is checked and charged once, also when the link turns out to be broken (404, timeout, DNS error…): finding broken links is the job you asked for, and the check was performed. Those rows say so in linkStatus and message — the problem is in the link, not in the checker.
How many URLs can I check per run? Up to 100,000 URLs per run. It sends up to 100 requests in parallel (30 by default) but never more than 3 at once to the same domain. You can follow up to 30 redirects and wait up to 120 seconds per request.
Why do some sites answer 403 or 429? Some sites block automated requests. The Actor reports exactly what a bot receives; you can try a different User-Agent in the input.
Does it check SSL certificates or render JavaScript? No. Certificate errors are ignored so you still get the status code, and pages are not rendered in a browser: it checks the HTTP response only.
Can I run it on a schedule?
Yes. Save a task with your URLs and add a schedule in Apify to re-check your links regularly, then filter rows where ok is false (or by linkStatus).
