📍 Google Maps Scraper - Business Leads with Hours (No Login)

Google Maps business leads by search term and city: name, address, phone, website, rating, rating breakdown, opening hours and coordinates. No login needed.

This Google Maps scraper turns any search term and city into a list of local business leads: one row per place with phone, website, rating, the 1-to-5 star breakdown, opening hours and coordinates, ready to download as CSV, Excel or JSON.

⚡ Why This Actor?

Atomic actor: input search terms and places, get back the businesses Google Maps shows for them, one row per place. Every row already includes the details that usually cost extra elsewhere: opening hours for each day, the 1-to-5 star rating breakdown, review count, coordinates, place ID and a Google Maps link. No Google account, no cookies, no browser setup.

What it does NOT do: it does not return reviews, review texts, reviewer names, emails or social media profiles. It returns the business phone and website only when the business lists them on Google Maps. This is a single-job actor. For Google search results, keyword ideas or trends, see "Related Actors" at the bottom.

📄 What a Row Contains

GroupFields
Businessname, category, additionalCategories, isClaimed, priceLevel
Addressaddress (full), street, city, zip, region, countryCode
Contactphone, website, domain, bookOnlineUrl
Reputationrating, reviewsCount, ratingDistribution (count of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 star ratings)
Opening hoursopeningHours with one entry per day, for example "09:00-17:00"; null on closed days
Locationlatitude, longitude, placeId, cid, googleMapsUrl
MediatotalPhotos, mainImage (link to the main photo)
Run infosearchTerm, location, position (rank on Google Maps), scrapedAt

Any value the listing does not show (phone, website, rating, price level and so on) is null, never 0 or an empty string.

🎯 Use Cases

  • Local lead lists - build a list of dentists, plumbers or cafes in a city with phone, website and opening hours for B2B outreach
  • Market sizing - count how many businesses of a category exist in each city and how they are rated
  • Competitor mapping - see where competitors are, how they rank on Google Maps for a search term, and how their ratings compare
  • Sales territory planning - plot businesses by coordinates to split territories or plan field visits
  • Local SEO audits - check a client's Google Maps rank for its main search terms against nearby competitors
  • Data enrichment - add category, hours, rating and Google Maps link to an existing list of business names in a city
  • Opening-hours research - find which businesses in an area open early, close late or work on weekends
  • Google Maps leads for agencies - spot local businesses with no website (website is null), few reviews or a low rating, and offer them web, SEO or reputation services

🚀 Quick Start

  1. Click Try for free on this Actor's page
  2. Enter search terms and places
  3. Run the Actor
  4. Download results as JSON, CSV, or XLSX, or pull via Apify API

📍 How to Enter Places

Each search term is run for each place. Enter one place per line, in any of these forms:

You typeWhat happens
New YorkThe city with this name. When several cities share the name, the best-known one is used (here New York City)
Paris, TexasThe city in that state or region
New York, United StatesThe city in that country
Berlin, GermanyThe city in that country
40.7580,-73.9855The map area around these coordinates (latitude, longitude) at zoom 17
40.7580,-73.9855,15zThe same, with a zoom from 3z (wide) to 21z (street level)

A city wins over a region with the same name. If a place is not recognized, you get a row with up to 3 close matches to choose from. Countries alone (for example Germany) are not accepted, because Google Maps then returns businesses from random parts of the country; enter a city or coordinates instead.

💰 Pricing

Pay-per-event model on Apify.

EventPrice
Actor start$0.02 per run
Place$1.29 per 1,000 places ($0.00129 per place row)

You pay only for place rows written to your dataset. Repeated places, summary rows and error rows are free.

See exact per-event pricing on the Actor's Apify page.

Free plan limit

Free Apify users get up to 5 results per run. Paying users are not affected and receive results normally.

This limit was set by the Actor developer, not by Apify. To remove it and receive unlimited results, upgrade to any paid Apify plan: https://apify.com/pricing

When a free plan run hits the cap, the Actor finishes successfully (status SUCCEEDED) and the run's status message explains what happened. No error is raised, so the first 5 results are fully usable as normal.

❓ FAQ

Q: Is this legal? A: This Actor wraps DataForSEO endpoints that handle the underlying data collection of public Google Maps business listings. Your downstream use of the data is your responsibility - see the full Terms of Service and the Actor-Specific Addendum (Part 4) for details. If you use the data for B2B outreach, follow anti-spam and privacy laws (GDPR, PECR, CAN-SPAM, CASL, Israeli anti-spam law). Listings of sole traders and home-based businesses can be personal data under GDPR, so you need a lawful basis such as legitimate interest and a working opt-out process.

Q: Do I need a Google or data provider account? A: No. UnseenUser holds the data provider credentials. You only need an Apify account.

Q: What about Google's anti-scraping enforcement? A: Google's Terms restrict automated extraction. The data provider handles the data collection and bears the responsibility for its architecture's lawfulness. Your downstream use must comply with Google's Terms.

Q: What if Google sends a cease-and-desist? A: Notify UnseenUser within 48 hours via the Apify profile contact form (apify.com/UnseenUser) and cease using this Actor immediately.

Q: Can I use this data to train AI? A: NO. Google's Terms restrict reuse of Google Maps content, and business photos and descriptions belong to the businesses or to Google. Do not use the output as AI training data without separate authorization.

Q: What about minors? A: The Actor returns business listings, not personal profiles. If a listing clearly belongs to a minor (for example a teenager's tutoring or babysitting service), do not use it. See Part 4 for details.

Q: Why did I get fewer places than I asked for? A: Three reasons. Google Maps shows only so many places for a search in an area (a small town may have 30 dentists, not 300). Google Maps sometimes lists the same place twice in one search; the Actor skips the repeat and does not charge for it (the summary row shows repeatsSkipped). And the free plan returns up to 5 places per run.

Q: Why do some places have no phone or website? A: The business did not add them to its Google Maps listing. The field is then null. In our tests, 83 to 99 of every 100 places had a phone, and 63 to 97 had a website, depending on the category and city.

Q: Does it include reviews or emails? A: No. It returns the rating, the review count and the 1-to-5 star breakdown, but no review texts, no reviewer names and no emails.

Q: Why are repeats skipped? A: On long searches, Google Maps can show the same place again further down the list. The Actor keeps the first one (by place ID) and skips the rest, so you never pay twice for one business in the same search. The same business can still appear in two different searches.

Q: How do I search a whole country? A: Enter its cities, one per line, or coordinates. A country alone is not accepted, because Google Maps then returns businesses from random regions.

Q: Which language should I pick? A: The language changes the language of category names and of some business names on Google Maps. It does not change which businesses are found. Default is English.

Q: Can I try this Google Maps scraper for free? A: Yes. Free Apify plan: up to 5 places per run; paid plans: no limit. A free run searches only your first search term in your first place, writes up to 5 places and ends with a row that explains the limit. The run still finishes successfully, so the 5 places are fully usable.

Q: Is there a Google Maps API for this? A: Google's official Places API is built for developers who show places inside their own apps: it needs a Google Cloud project, an API key and billing per request, and you assemble the business list yourself. This Actor gives you the list directly: search terms and cities in, one row per place out, with phone, website, opening hours, rating breakdown and coordinates in every row. You can still call it like an API, from the Apify API, Python, Node.js or no-code tools.

Q: How do I scrape Google Maps without coding? A: Enter your search terms (for example dentist) and places (for example Austin, Texas) in the input form, click Start, and download the results from the Places view. Each search term is run for each place, so 3 terms and 4 cities give 12 searches in one run.

Q: How do I export Google Maps business leads to Excel, CSV or Google Sheets? A: Open the run's dataset and choose CSV, Excel, JSON or another format, or pull it through the Apify API. To send every new run to Google Sheets automatically, use one of Apify's integrations.

Q: Can I use it as a Google Maps email extractor? A: No. It returns the phone number and website as the business shows them on Google Maps, and no emails, social profiles or review texts. When a business shows no phone or website, the field is null.

Q: Can I enter any city? A: Any of the 270,000+ places in the Actor's place list: cities, "City, Country", "City, Region", postal codes, or coordinates with a zoom. Six large cities are not in that list: Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Havana, Panama City, Nassau and Petra. For them, enter coordinates instead (for example 55.7558,37.6173 for central Moscow). Typing one of these names alone returns a free row asking for coordinates, and the same names with a region (for example Moscow, Idaho) work normally.

Q: How long does a run take? A: Most runs finish in under a minute; when Google's queue is busy, a run can take longer.

Q: Can I run it on a schedule or connect it to other tools? A: Yes. Run it on a schedule with Apify schedules to keep a lead list fresh, and use Apify integrations (for example Make, Zapier, n8n, Google Sheets or webhooks) to send each run's places where you work. See the demo videos below.

Q: Can AI agents use this Google Maps data? A: Yes. Like any Apify Actor, it can be called by AI agents through Apify's MCP server, and its output is plain JSON with the same field names every time.

🔧 How it works

  • Live data: every run searches Google Maps at run time, nothing is served from an old copy
  • No login: no Google account, cookies or proxies needed, only an Apify account
  • Each search term is run for each place; each pair is one search, run in the order you entered them
  • One row per place, in Google Maps order (position 1, 2, 3, ...), ready as JSON, CSV, Excel or through the Apify API
  • Typical speed: most runs finish in under a minute; Google's queue is sometimes slower
  • What ends a search: the maximum places per search is reached, Google Maps has no more places, the free plan limit or your maximum cost per run is reached, or no result arrives within the wait limit (5 minutes, or 15 minutes when more than 200 places per search are requested). A search that fails gets a free row and the run still finishes
  • Limits: search term length max 700 characters; 1 to 700 places per search; 129 result languages; coordinates with up to 7 decimals and a zoom from 3z to 21z
  • Repeats: a place already written for the same search is skipped and never charged
  • Restart-safe: if Apify moves the run to another server, searches already sent are picked up again, never repeated or charged twice

PREAMBLE - UNDERSTANDING THE ARCHITECTURE

Before using the Actor, please understand the technical architecture of the service:

The Data Flow

You (User) → Apify Platform → Actor (software) → Third-Party API → Source Platform
↓
You (User) ← Apify Platform ← Actor (software) ← Third-Party API

What Each Party Does

  • You (the User): Run the Actor on the Apify platform with input parameters you choose
  • Apify: Operates the cloud infrastructure that hosts and executes Actors. Apify is a Czech-incorporated company (Apify Technologies s.r.o.) governed by its own Terms of Service.
  • The Publisher (us): Publishes software code (the Actor) on Apify's platform. The Actor is a thin wrapper that translates your input into requests to a third-party API and returns the API's responses to you. The Publisher does not operate scraping infrastructure. The Publisher does not store or retain data returned by the Actor. Because requests are made under the Publisher's provider accounts, copies of results may remain in those accounts as described in the Data Retention section of the Addendum. The Publisher does not access these copies except where needed to troubleshoot a run at the User's request. The Publisher does not see, log, or process the personal data of any individuals returned in the Actor's outputs beyond what is incidental to passing the data through.
  • Third-Party API Provider: DataForSEO (https://dataforseo.com). This is an independent third-party company that operates data infrastructure that retrieves public business listings from map search engines and returns them as structured data.
  • Source Platform: Google (Google Maps public business listings). This is the platform whose publicly visible data is accessed by the Third-Party API Provider.

Why This Matters

Your relationship with the Publisher is that of a software user to a software vendor. The Publisher has the responsibilities of a software vendor (functional code, accurate documentation) and the limits of one (the Publisher is not responsible for how you use the data you obtain).

These Terms operate alongside but do not replace:

  • Apify's Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy (governing your relationship with Apify)
  • DataForSEO Terms of Service (governing the underlying data infrastructure)
  • Source Platform terms (Google) governing the public data accessed
  • Applicable law in your jurisdiction and the jurisdictions of data subjects

These Terms incorporate the actor-specific addendum published in each Actor's individual listing ("Addendum"). In the event of a conflict, the more restrictive provision applies.

1. NATURE OF THE SERVICE

1.1 What the Actor Is

The Actor is a software program published on the Apify platform. Each Actor:

  • (a) Accepts structured input from you on the Apify platform
  • (b) Translates that input into HTTP requests to a third-party API operated by DataForSEO (https://dataforseo.com)
  • (c) Receives HTTP responses from that third-party API
  • (d) Returns the response data to you in a structured format on the Apify platform

The Actor's source code is hosted on Apify's infrastructure. The Actor runs in Apify's cloud, not on the Publisher's servers. The Publisher operates no servers running the Actor.

1.2 What the Actor Is Not

The Actor is not:

  • (a) A scraping tool - the Publisher does not operate scraping infrastructure, proxies, headless browsers, or fake accounts
  • (b) A direct connection to any source platform - connections to source platforms are made by DataForSEO (https://dataforseo.com)
  • (c) A data storage or data retention service - the Publisher does not maintain a database of any data the Actor returns. Because requests are made under the Publisher's provider accounts, copies of results may remain in those accounts as described in the Data Retention section of the Addendum. The Publisher does not access these copies except where needed to troubleshoot a run at the User's request.
  • (d) A licensed access channel to Google, Google Maps, or any other source platform
  • (e) Affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or authorized by any source platform

1.3 The Publisher's Limited Role

The Publisher's role is limited to:

  • (a) Designing and writing the Actor's source code
  • (b) Publishing the Actor on the Apify Store
  • (c) Maintaining the Actor (updating it when API providers change schemas)
  • (d) Providing documentation and customer support via Apify's contact mechanism

The Publisher is a software vendor, similar to a developer who publishes an app on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. The Publisher is not a data provider, data broker, data processor, or data controller for purposes of GDPR, CCPA, Israel's Privacy Protection Law, or equivalent.

1.4 The Third-Party API Provider's Role

DataForSEO (https://dataforseo.com) is an independent third-party company. It:

  • (a) Operates the data infrastructure that retrieves public business listings
  • (b) Maintains its own data sources and collection methods
  • (c) Provides its own Terms of Service governing its operations
  • (d) Is responsible for compliance obligations relating to the data collection itself

The Publisher is a customer of this provider. The Publisher is not its agent, partner, or representative.

2. WHO MAY USE THE ACTOR

2.1 Eligibility

You may use the Actor only if:

  • (a) You are at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction
  • (b) You have legal capacity to enter into binding contracts
  • (c) You are not located in or resident of a country subject to comprehensive sanctions by the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, or Israel
  • (d) You are not on any prohibited persons list

2.2 User Representations

By using any Actor, you represent and warrant that:

  • (a) Truthful identity: Information you provide about your identity and intended use is accurate
  • (b) Lawful intent: Your intended use complies with applicable law in your jurisdiction
  • (c) Source platform compliance: You will independently comply with the Terms of Service of any source platform whose data you obtain through the Actor
  • (d) Data subject rights: Where Actor outputs include personal data, you will respect data subject rights under applicable law
  • (e) No prohibited use: You will not use the Actor for any of the purposes prohibited in Section 4

These representations are continuous - they must remain true throughout your use.

3. PERMITTED USES

The Actor may be used for any lawful purpose, including:

  • Market research and competitive analysis
  • Academic research
  • Journalism and investigative reporting
  • Internal business intelligence
  • Brand monitoring
  • Recruitment research where consistent with applicable employment law
  • Building products that further process publicly available information lawfully

Specific permitted uses for each Actor are described in that Actor's individual listing and Addendum.

4. PROHIBITED USES

You may not use the Actor for any of the following:

4.1 Illegal Activity

Activity illegal under the law of your jurisdiction, the User's jurisdiction, or the jurisdiction of any data subjects.

4.2 Harassment, Stalking, and Personal Targeting

  • Compiling profiles for harassment, stalking, or doxxing
  • Tracking individuals' movements or activities without their knowledge
  • Building profiles of journalists, activists, dissidents, or vulnerable populations for retaliatory purposes

4.3 Discrimination

  • Using outputs for discriminatory employment, lending, housing, or insurance decisions based on protected characteristics
  • Building lists for discriminatory purposes

4.4 Spam and Unsolicited Commercial Communication

  • Sending unsolicited marketing in violation of CAN-SPAM, CASL, GDPR, PECR, Israeli Anti-Spam Law (סעיף 30א לחוק התקשורת), or equivalent laws
  • Building "lead lists" from scraped contacts without proper consent infrastructure
  • Reselling contact data for spam purposes

4.5 Fraud and Deception

  • Identity theft or impersonation
  • Generation of fake reviews, testimonials, or coordinated inauthentic behavior
  • Election interference or political disinformation
  • Securities fraud

4.6 Source Platform Abuse

  • Using outputs to circumvent technical protection measures of source platforms
  • Creating fake accounts on source platforms based on Actor outputs
  • Vote manipulation, engagement manipulation, or platform algorithm gaming
  • Building services that competitively substitute for source platforms

4.7 Reselling the Actor's Service

  • Reselling raw Actor outputs as your own data product or scraping-as-a-service
  • Sharing your Apify credentials to provide third parties indirect access
  • Building competing API services using Actor outputs

4.8 AI Training Without Authorization

  • Using Actor outputs as training data for commercial AI/ML models without separate licensing authority from the source platform

4.9 Sensitive Targeting

  • Specifically targeting or profiling based on health conditions, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, political opinions, or other sensitive characteristics
  • Targeting children under 16 (or local age of consent for data processing)

4.10 Privacy Law Violations

  • Processing personal data of EU/UK/California/Israeli residents without complying with applicable privacy law
  • Failing to honor data subject access, deletion, or objection requests
  • Processing data for purposes incompatible with its publication context

5. SOURCE PLATFORM TERMS - YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

5.1 Acknowledgment

The Actor accesses publicly visible data on third-party platforms ("Source Platforms") through the Third-Party API Provider (DataForSEO (https://dataforseo.com)). Source Platforms include Google (Google Maps public business listings).

5.2 Your Sole Responsibility

You acknowledge:

  • (a) You are solely responsible for ensuring your downstream use of data obtained through the Actor complies with the Source Platform's Terms of Service
  • (b) The Publisher makes no representation that any specific use is permitted under any Source Platform's terms
  • (c) The Third-Party API Providers, not the Publisher, bear responsibility for the lawfulness of the data collection itself
  • (d) You should review Source Platform terms before commercial use:

5.3 Cease-and-Desist Compliance

If you receive a cease-and-desist letter or other legal demand from a Source Platform regarding your use of Actor outputs, you must:

  • (a) Cease the contested use immediately
  • (b) Notify UnseenUser within 48 hours via UnseenUser's Apify profile contact form (https://apify.com/UnseenUser)
  • (c) Cooperate with the Publisher as needed to mitigate
  • (d) Not assert against the Publisher any claim arising from your inability to use the Actor for that Source Platform

6. DATA PROTECTION - REFLECTING ACTUAL ARCHITECTURE

6.1 Roles Under Privacy Law

For purposes of GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, Israel's Privacy Protection Law (PPL) including Amendment 13, and equivalents:

  • You (the User) are the Data Controller of any personal data you obtain through the Actor and subsequently process for your own purposes
  • DataForSEO (https://dataforseo.com) is the entity that collects data from the source platform (Google Maps public business listings) - it bears the responsibilities of data processors or controllers (depending on context) for the collection itself
  • The Publisher acts solely as a software vendor, not as a data controller or processor, because the Publisher does not store, retain, or substantively process personal data - the Actor merely passes API responses through. Because requests are made under the Publisher's provider accounts, copies of results may remain in those accounts as described in the Data Retention section of the Addendum. The Publisher does not access these copies except where needed to troubleshoot a run at the User's request.

6.2 No Data Retention by the Publisher

The Publisher confirms:

  • (a) The Publisher does not maintain a database of personal data obtained through the Actor. Because requests are made under the Publisher's provider accounts, copies of results may remain in those accounts as described in the Data Retention section of the Addendum. The Publisher does not access these copies except where needed to troubleshoot a run at the User's request.
  • (b) The Actor passes data from the Third-Party API directly to you on the Apify platform - data does not flow through the Publisher's infrastructure
  • (c) Apify's standard execution and operational logging may include limited information about Actor runs (input parameters, run duration, data volume) - this is governed by Apify's own privacy practices
  • (d) The Publisher does not access, view, or analyze your Actor outputs except as needed for technical support if you specifically share them with the Publisher

6.3 Your Obligations as Data Controller

Where your use of the Actor involves processing personal data, you are responsible for:

  • (a) Establishing a lawful basis for your processing (consent, legitimate interest with documented balancing test, contract, etc.)
  • (b) Providing transparent notice to data subjects as required by applicable law
  • (c) Honoring data subject access, rectification, erasure, restriction, and portability requests
  • (d) Implementing appropriate security measures
  • (e) Conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments where required
  • (f) Appointing a Data Protection Officer if your operations require one
  • (g) Registering databases with applicable supervisory authorities
  • (h) Honoring opt-out requests for direct marketing

🛡️ Part 4: Actor-Specific Terms of Service Addendum

🛡️ Actor-Specific ToS Addendum - 📍 Google Maps Businesses

This addendum supplements the Master Terms of Service V4.0. By running this Actor, you accept both the Master ToS and this addendum.

A. Architectural Disclosure

This Actor is a software wrapper. It accepts your input parameters, calls DataForSEO's Google Maps search (one request creates a queued search task, a second request reads its result), and returns the response data to you on the Apify platform. UnseenUser does not store, log, or substantively process the data returned. Because requests are made under UnseenUser's DataForSEO account, copies of results may remain in that account as described in the Data Retention section below. UnseenUser does not access these copies except where needed to troubleshoot a run at the User's request. The data flows from DataForSEO through Apify's runtime directly to you.

The Actor also contains a list of location names taken once from DataForSEO's free locations list. It is used only to turn the place you type into a location the data source accepts; it contains no personal data.

Data Retention

DataForSEO: Requests are made through the Publisher's DataForSEO account using its standard (queued) method. According to DataForSEO's help center, results of these tasks are kept for 30 days and can be retrieved again with the task ID during that period (https://dataforseo.com/help-center/how-long-do-you-keep-results). DataForSEO does not publish a separate retention period for its request, usage or billing records. The Publisher does not access these stored results except where needed to troubleshoot a run at the User's request.

B. Nature of Data Returned

This Actor returns public Google Maps business listings: business name, category and additional categories, full address split into street, city, zip, region and country code, the business phone number and website as listed by the business, rating, review count and the count of 1-to-5 star ratings, price level, opening hours per day, whether the listing is claimed by its owner, photo count and a link to the main photo, an online booking link where offered, latitude and longitude, Google place ID and CID, a Google Maps link, and the Google Maps rank (position) for your search term. It does NOT return review texts, reviewer names or profiles, contributor profiles (the source's contributor_url field is removed by the Actor), emails or social media accounts. Fields with special legal weight: the phone number, the street address and the exact coordinates, which for sole traders and home-based businesses can identify a person and the place where they live.

Where the Actor's output includes individual people's names, photos, contact details, or content authored by them, that data constitutes personal data subject to GDPR, CCPA, Israeli Privacy Protection Law (including Amendment 13), and equivalent privacy laws in your downstream processing - but only in your hands as the data controller, not in UnseenUser's hands as the software vendor.

C. Permitted Use Cases

You may use this Actor for the following purposes (non-exhaustive list):

D. Specifically Prohibited Uses

In addition to Master ToS Section 4 prohibitions, you may NOT:

  • Mass cold-call, SMS or WhatsApp-blast the phone numbers without anti-spam and telemarketing compliance (GDPR, PECR, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, CASL, Israeli anti-spam law, national do-not-call registries)
  • Sell or rent the output as a business directory, lead database or "Google Maps data" product (data broker activity; also Master ToS 4.7)
  • Build a public website or app that republishes Google Maps listings, ratings or photos as a replacement for Google Maps
  • Use ratings, review counts or rating breakdowns to create, buy or target fake reviews, review extortion or rating manipulation
  • Use the addresses or coordinates of sole traders or home-based businesses to find, visit or watch a person rather than a business
  • Target businesses for harassment, protest campaigns or boycotts based on the owners' religion, ethnicity, nationality or political views inferred from the listing
  • Use the data to plan crime, such as identifying shops that are closed at certain hours or lack staff
  • Scrape listings of shelters, clinics, places of worship or support services to profile the people who use them

E. Platform Terms of Service Considerations

Google's Terms of Service and the Google Maps terms restrict automated extraction and bulk reuse of Google Maps content. Google offers Maps data commercially through its own licensed APIs (Google Maps Platform) and restricts commercial reuse of Maps content outside them. This Actor accesses publicly visible Google Maps business listings via DataForSEO - DataForSEO bears responsibility for the lawfulness of the data collection. Your downstream use must independently comply with Google's Terms of Service.

If Google issues a cease-and-desist regarding data obtained via this Actor, notify UnseenUser within 48 hours via the Apify profile contact form (apify.com/UnseenUser) and cease your use immediately.

F. Sole Traders and Home-Based Businesses - Personal Data in Business Listings

Most rows describe companies, but Google Maps also lists sole traders, freelancers and home-based businesses (a hairdresser working from home, a self-employed plumber, a private tutor). For these listings:

  • The business name is often the owner's own name
  • The phone number is often the owner's personal mobile phone
  • The address and coordinates can be the owner's home

Under GDPR and Israeli Privacy Protection Law, these details are personal data, even though they appear in a business listing. You should treat any listing that looks like a one-person business with personal-data care:

  • Have a documented lawful basis before contacting them (usually legitimate interest, with a balancing test you can show)
  • Tell them where you got their details when you first contact them (GDPR Article 14)
  • Offer a simple opt-out and honor it everywhere you store the data
  • Never publish or share their address or coordinates outside the purpose you collected them for

When in doubt whether a listing is a company or a person, treat it as a person.

G. Prospecting Compliance

Using this Actor's phone numbers and websites for B2B outreach is a main use case, and it is regulated. You are responsible for:

  • Calls and texts: national do-not-call registries, TCPA consent rules for automated calls and texts in the US, PECR in the UK, and the Israeli Communications Law section 30A, which requires prior consent for advertising by SMS, automated calls, fax and email, including to businesses in many cases
  • Email: the Actor returns no emails. If you find emails on the businesses' websites, CAN-SPAM, CASL, PECR and GDPR apply to every message you send
  • Identification: every message must identify you and give a working opt-out
  • Suppression lists: keep a list of businesses that opted out and remove them from future lists built with this Actor
  • Records: keep a record of where each lead came from (searchTerm, location, scrapedAt) so you can answer an Article 14 or Article 15 request

UnseenUser does not perform any anti-spam or consent checks for you. The Actor is software; compliance is yours.

H. Business Address & Geolocation Data

Every row includes a physical business address and exact coordinates (up to 7 decimal places). This is generally less sensitive than individual personal location data but still requires care:

  • Business addresses may include home offices (sole proprietors) - treat with personal-data-level care when ambiguous (see Section F)
  • Geolocation data can enable physical-world targeting (deliveries, services, in-person events, field sales visits)
  • Aggregating business locations into territory analysis, coverage maps or competitor mapping is generally permitted; aggregating locations to follow the movements or routines of individuals is not
  • Do not combine the coordinates of home-based listings with other data to identify where a named person lives

Israeli Amendment 13 specifically restricts location data processing. EU EDPB guidance treats fine-grained location data as high-risk under GDPR DPIA requirements. Plan accordingly.

I. Ratings and Rating Breakdown - Aggregates Only, No Reviews

The Actor returns the rating, the review count and the count of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 star ratings. It does not return any review text, reviewer name, reviewer photo or reviewer profile, by design.

  • The rating figures are Google's aggregate figures at the time of the run. They may include fake or filtered reviews and change daily. Do not present them as verified quality scores
  • Do not use the rating breakdown to pick businesses for fake review offers, negative-review removal scams or "reputation" extortion
  • Do not try to identify individual reviewers by combining this output with other sources
  • If you publish comparisons based on ratings (for example "the best-rated dentists in Berlin"), say that the figures come from Google Maps and the date you collected them

J. Search Result Reliability

Google Maps results depend on the search term, the area shown on the map, the language and Google's own ranking. Keep in mind:

  • position is the rank in this one search at this moment, not a permanent ranking. Run the same search tomorrow and the order may change
  • A search covers the map area of the chosen city or coordinates. Businesses just outside it, or listed under a different category, may not appear
  • Google Maps sometimes shows the same place twice in one long search. The Actor keeps the first one (by place ID); the same business can still appear in two different searches
  • Some listings are closed, moved or out of date. Google Maps is the source, and the Actor does not verify listings
  • Up to 700 places per search is the source's limit. For a complete picture of a large city, results from several searches are needed

Do not make decisions with legal or financial effect on a business (credit, insurance, supplier approval) based only on this output.

K. Aggregation Boundary - The Critical Line

The line between permitted business research and prohibited misuse is drawn around what you build and who it is about:

UseStatus
A list of 300 plumbers in Chicago for your own sales team✅ Permitted
Rank tracking of your client's listing against 20 nearby competitors✅ Permitted
Counting cafes per city for market sizing✅ Permitted
Calling sole traders from the list with a documented lawful basis and opt-out✅ Generally permitted with proper lawful basis
A national database of every business in a country, kept and refreshed for resale❌ Data broker activity - likely prohibited under California Delete Act, GDPR Article 14, Israeli Privacy Law Amendment 13; also Master ToS 4.7
A public directory website rebuilt from Google Maps listings and photos❌ Competitive substitute for the source platform (Master ToS 4.6)
Mapping the home addresses of home-based businesses run by one group of people❌ Discrimination and personal targeting (Master ToS 4.2, 4.3)
Auto-dialing every phone number in the output❌ Spam and telemarketing violation (Master ToS 4.4)

mainImage is a link to a photo hosted by Google. The photo may have been uploaded by the business owner, by Google, or by a member of the public, and that person or business holds the copyright. The Actor returns the link, not the photo.

  • Do not download and republish the photos in your own product, ads or directory without permission from the rights holder
  • Business names, logos in photos and categories may be trademarks of the businesses
  • Opening hours, addresses and phone numbers are facts, but a structured collection of them can be protected by database rights (EU Database Directive) held by Google

M. Data Subject Rights - Operational Requirements

Owners of sole-trader and home-based listings (see Section F) have rights under GDPR / CCPA / Israeli Privacy Law over the data you keep about them:

  • Right to access - they can demand to know what you have about them and where it came from
  • Right to deletion - they can demand removal from your databases
  • Right to object - they can object to processing for direct marketing (NOT optional under GDPR)
  • Right to rectification - they can correct inaccurate data (for example an old phone number)
  • Right to portability - they can demand a copy in machine-readable format

A typical compliance setup includes:

  • A dedicated email for data subject requests (e.g., privacy@yourcompany.com)
  • A 30-day response SLA (GDPR requires; some jurisdictions allow extensions)
  • Logging of all requests and responses
  • A privacy policy linked from any outreach using this data

N. Cease-and-Desist Protocol

If Google, DataForSEO or a regulator contacts UnseenUser regarding your use:

  • UnseenUser will notify Apify per Master ToS Section 8
  • UnseenUser may suspend access to this Actor pending investigation
  • You agree to provide documentation of your lawful basis and processing activities upon reasonable request

If a business owner contacts YOU directly demanding deletion of their data:

  • Honor the request promptly (typically within 30 days under GDPR)
  • Do NOT route them to UnseenUser - UnseenUser is the software vendor, not the data controller
  • If they want their listing itself changed or removed, you may suggest they contact Google directly (since the data originates there) AND comply with your own deletion obligations
  • Document the request and your response
