Global Health Indicator Normalizer
Search the World Health Organization's Global Health Observatory (GHO) and receive clean, deduplicated health observations ready for research, dashboards, due diligence, and AI pipelines.
Why this Actor
The public GHO API returns inconsistent dimensions, formatted value strings, null-padded observations, and duplicate records. This Actor resolves indicator names or exact codes, fetches observations, normalizes country and sex dimensions, converts numeric values, preserves uncertainty bounds and source timestamps, and deduplicates records.
Input parameters
| Parameter | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
indicatorQuery | Yes | Indicator name text (e.g. life expectancy) or exact code (e.g. WHOSIS_000001). |
countries | No | ISO3 country codes such as USA, GBR, or KEN. Empty means all available countries. |
startYear / endYear | No | Inclusive year range. |
maxResults | No | Maximum observations, default 100, maximum 1,000. |
Example input
{"indicatorQuery":"WHOSIS_000001","countries":["USA","GBR"],"startYear":2000,"endYear":2023,"maxResults":20}
Output
Each dataset record includes indicatorCode, indicatorName, countryCode, region, year, normalized sex, numeric value, original valueFormatted, low, high, and sourceUpdated. The OUTPUT key-value record contains a readable summary table; STATS contains machine-readable counts.
{"indicatorCode":"WHOSIS_000001","indicatorName":"Healthy life expectancy...","countryCode":"USA","region":"Americas","year":2020,"sex":"Both sexes","value":65.2,"valueFormatted":"65.2 [64.8-65.6]","low":64.8,"high":65.6}
Use cases
- Global health and epidemiology research
- NGO and public-sector monitoring
- Healthcare market intelligence and benchmarking
- ESG and country-risk dashboards
- RAG and AI workflows needing consistent country/time-series records
