Give it a company name, a website domain or an SEC CIK number and get one row per company with every funding signal on public record, newest first: SEC Form D private offerings, Regulation Crowdfunding (Form C) raises and Y Combinator batches. Each signal carries its amount, its date and a link to the filing or directory page it came from. No API key, no account, no proxy. A company with no signal comes back as a free row that says so.

Who it's for

  • Sales and outbound teams who want to know which accounts on a list have just raised money, and how much, before writing the first line of an email.
  • Investors and scouts checking whether a company has filed a Form D, is running a crowdfunding round, or went through Y Combinator.
  • Recruiters and vendors using a fresh raise as the trigger to reach out.
  • Analysts enriching a CRM or a Clay table with a funding column that links back to a source anyone can open.

What you get

One row per company:

WhatColumns
The answerfound, signalCount, latestSignalDate, latestSignalSource, latestSignalType, latestAmountUsd, largestAmountUsd
The companycompanyName, website, ycBatch, secCiks, inputType
Every signalsignals (newest first), signalsTruncated

The first row's signals holds two entries, the amended notice of 9 October and the original offering of 1 October, each with its own summary line, for example "Regulation Crowdfunding offering (amended) via Wefunder Portal LLC: up to $750,000, $50,000 minimum target, Simple Agreement for Future Equity (SAFE)".

Each entry in signals has the same fields:

signalTypeform-d-offering, form-d-amendment, reg-cf-offering, reg-cf-amendment, reg-cf-progress-update or yc-batch
date, datePrecisionThe filing date (day), or the first day of the batch season for Y Combinator (batch)
amountUsdThe offering size: total offering amount on a Form D, maximum offering amount on a crowdfunding filing
amountSoldUsdForm D only: how much the company says it has sold so far
targetAmountUsdCrowdfunding only: the minimum target the round must reach
amountTextIndefinite when a Form D states no fixed amount
summaryOne plain sentence, for example "Regulation Crowdfunding offering via Wefunder Portal LLC: up to $750,000"
issuerName, cik, formType, accessionNumberWhich SEC filer and which filing
securityType, industry, website, intermediary, ycBatch, deadlineDate, dateOfFirstSaleWhatever that source states, empty otherwise

What this covers, and what it does not

  • Covered: companies that filed a Form D or a Form C with the SEC (US private placements and US crowdfunding rounds, 2001 onwards), and companies in the Y Combinator directory.
  • Not covered: rounds that were never filed in the US, press-only announcements, and investor names. A company funded only that way returns found: false and costs nothing.
  • Amounts are what the company filed. A Form D states the size of the offering and how much is sold so far; it is not a valuation. Amendments restate the same round, so largestAmountUsd is the largest single offering and never a sum. Y Combinator does not publish what it invested in a company, so a yc-batch signal has no amount.
  • Matching is exact. A name matches a filer only when the two are the same once legal-form words (Inc, LLC, Corp, Ltd) and punctuation are set aside. A domain matches a Y Combinator company by its website, and an SEC filer only when one of that filer's own filings states the website. When several filers share one exact name, checkNotes says so and each signal names its filer; give the CIK to pin one.
  • An outage is not a "no". If a source cannot be reached, the row says SOURCE_UNAVAILABLE (or lists the source in sourcesFailed when another source still answered) instead of claiming the company has no funding.

How to use

  1. In the Apify Console. Open the actor page and click Start — the companies field is already pre-filled with a working example. Results land in the run's dataset as soon as each item is found.
  2. Via the API. Call it directly with a POST request — no Console needed once you have an API token:
    curl "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/accountable_eel~company-funding-signal-check/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=<YOUR_TOKEN>" \
    -X POST \
    -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
    -d '{"companies":["Livestock Laboratories & Biosciences","Cor5 Inc"]}'
  3. On a schedule. Save this actor as an Apify Task with the input you want, then add a Schedule (hourly, daily, weekly) so it runs on its own — no server of your own required.

Input

{
"companies": [
"Livestock Laboratories & Biosciences",
"Cor5 Inc"
]
}

One company per line: a company name, a website domain, or an SEC CIK number. Names are matched exactly once legal-form words such as Inc and LLC are set aside, so "Cor5" and "Cor5 Inc." are the same company and a similarly named one is never returned. Accepted formats: Cor5 Inc, Livestock Laboratories & Biosciences, stripe.com, CIK 2157756.

{
"companies": ["Cor5 Inc", "stripe.com", "CIK 2157756"],
"maxSignalsPerCompany": 5
}

companies takes names, domains and CIK numbers mixed in one list. maxSignalsPerCompany (default 10, up to 50) caps how many signals are listed per company, newest first. It changes how long a run takes, never the price: a company is billed once however many signals it has.

Output

One row per company, for example:

queryfoundstatuscompanyNameinputTypesignalCountlatestSignalDatelatestSignalSourcelatestSignalTypelatestAmountUsdlargestAmountUsdycBatchwebsitesecCikssignalssignalsTruncatedsourcesFailedcheckNotessourceUrlscrapedAt
Livestock Laboratories & BiosciencestrueOK<newest signal amount (usd)><largest offering (usd)><funding signals, newest first><more signals exist?>1970-01-01T00:00:00.000Z

A company with no signal comes back as a row with "found": false, "status": "NOT_FOUND" and a message that says what was checked. It is never charged.

Example runs

Three inputs that need no credentials of any kind and return rows as they stand. Paste one into the Input tab and press Start.

1. Has this company raised through crowdfunding?

{
"companies": ["Livestock Laboratories & Biosciences", "Cor5 Inc"]
}

2. Check a list of websites against the Y Combinator directory and SEC filings

{
"companies": ["stripe.com", "airbnb.com", "gusto.com"]
}

3. One known SEC filer by CIK, newest three signals only

{
"companies": ["CIK 2157756"],
"maxSignalsPerCompany": 3
}

Pricing

Pay-per-event. A flat per-run fee covers session/proxy warmup; each independent source is billed under its own event, only when that source actually returns data — see .actor/pay_per_event.json for exact prices. A miss is never charged.

Use it from Clay, n8n, Make, or an AI agent

This actor runs synchronously over plain HTTP — call it directly from a script, a workflow tool, or an AI agent, no Apify Console needed once you have an API token.

curl "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/accountable_eel~company-funding-signal-check/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=<YOUR_TOKEN>" \
-X POST \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"companies":["Livestock Laboratories & Biosciences","Cor5 Inc"]}'

n8n. Add an HTTP Request node: Method POST, URL https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/accountable_eel~company-funding-signal-check/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=<YOUR_TOKEN>, Body Content Type JSON, JSON Body {"companies":["Livestock Laboratories & Biosciences","Cor5 Inc"]} (swap in an expression from an earlier node for a real value).

Clay. Add an "HTTP API" column: Method POST, URL https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/accountable_eel~company-funding-signal-check/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=<YOUR_TOKEN>, Body {"companies":["{{company}}"]}, mapping the row's company into the companies array.

MCP. In Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client with the Apify MCP server, ask for "Company funding rounds by company name: Form D, Reg CF" — the agent will find and run this actor.
