China Game Approval Tracker gives you China's official game license (版号, "banhao") approvals from the National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA, 国家新闻出版署) as clean, structured JSON: domestic and imported approvals, ISBN, approval numbers, publishers, operators, changes and revocations since 2009, refreshed daily.

The first eight fields use the same names and values across our Korea, China and Asia game-data Actors. company is the operator (运营单位), usually the game company; the publisher (出版单位) is usually a licensed publishing house. Company names are kept in Chinese and never machine-translated.

Pricing

Pay per event, with no platform usage fee on top: $0.003 per record delivered plus $0.01 per run, only when at least one record was delivered.

Update schedule

The data is synced from nppa.gov.cn once a day at 05:00 Korea time (04:00 Beijing time, 20:00 UTC). NPPA usually publishes domestic approvals once a month; a new monthly batch appears here the day after NPPA publishes it. Imported-game and change lists are yearly pages that NPPA extends during the year; they are re-checked daily. If a sync fails, the previous data is kept.

• A 版号 is a publishing license, not an age rating. Age-appropriateness labels (适龄提示) in China are a separate system and are not part of this data.
• There is no genre information. NPPA publishes the platform/format applied for (申报类别), but not the genre.
• Titles and company names are in Chinese only, exactly as published. NPPA publishes no English titles, and the approved title can differ from the marketing name.
• Older records (roughly before 2016) have no category and sometimes no ISBN.
• Records reflect what NPPA publishes. Approvals not yet announced on nppa.gov.cn are not included, so no result does not prove a game has no license.

This is an unofficial tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the NPPA or any Chinese government body.

Category labels: Mobile, Mobile (Casual Puzzle), PC Client, Web, Console (PS5 / Nintendo Switch / …), Physical Media (Composite Carrier), Yuedong Yuanqi device (悦动元气机, a device name kept in pinyin). Some records from around 2017–2022 use older NPPA labels: Domestic Mobile Game, Domestic Mobile Game (Pilot Program), Domestic Web Game, Console Game.

Tip: search with the Chinese title. If you only know the English name, look up the official Chinese title first (for example Genshin Impact → 原神), or search by operator instead.

Every field is described in the dataset schema. Remember that titles must be searched in Chinese and that a missing record is not proof that a game has no license.

FAQ

Why can't I find a game by its English name? NPPA publishes Chinese titles only. Use the Chinese title, part of it, or the operator name.

Are the English labels official? No. Field names and category labels are our translations. The Chinese original is always included. Values not in our mapping are labeled Unmapped.

Is this legal to use? The data is official public information published on the NPPA website. The Actor only collects the approval lists. It collects no personal data, only company names as published by the NPPA.
