Urgent: Differentiating Testreels from Regular Videos

Closed

ample_beaver opened this issue

The new beta feature for Testreels is currently rolling out, and we've noticed that some creators are uploading hundreds of Testreels, while they usually post around 10 videos per week.

To maintain clarity, we need a way to differentiate between Testreels and regular videos. As a reminder, Testreels are only visible to users who don’t follow the creator — such as the crawler.

We’d really appreciate any suggestions or support on how to handle this. Thanks in advance — it’s quite urgent!

Hi!

Trial reels specs: https://creators.instagram.com/blog/instagram-trial-reels Sample profile from the specs: https://www.instagram.com/brookemonk/reels/

Nothing directly related in internal data to trial or regular state, checked:

  • "integrity_review_decision" - always "pending", the rest below are booleans without differences across the reels
  • "is_artist_pick"
  • "is_dash_eligible"
  • "is_eligible_content_for_post_roll_ad"
  • "is_in_profile_grid"
  • "is_open_to_public_submission"
  • "is_quiet_post"
  • "should_show_author_pog_for_tagged_media_shared_to_profile_grid"

Can you provide direct example URLs of the trial and regular reels? At the moment looks like it is impossible to find the difference, but I would like to double-check.

Hi!

After more debugging, I was unable to find a way to detect if a reel is "trial" or "normal"

From a web visitor's perspective, everything exactly the same; only the profile owner can see the differences

I will close the issue now, but if there is anything else we can help with, please let us know.
