What is Google Maps Reviews Scraper?

Google Maps Reviews Scraper is a tool that lets you scrape reviews from Google Maps places: star rating, review text and its translation, publish date, likes, reviewer name and profile, Local Guide badge, and the owner's reply. Paste Google Maps place links or place IDs, click Start, and download the reviews as Excel, CSV or JSON.

  • ⚡ Speed: 1,000 reviews of a New York hotel in about 20 seconds (our test)
  • 🗂️ Up to 50,000 reviews per place, sorted the way you choose: most relevant, newest, highest or lowest rating
  • 🌍 Translations included: reviews in other languages come with a translation into your language
  • 🔓 No login: no Google account, cookies or API key needed
  • 💸 Free to try: the $5 of free usage every Apify account gets each month covers about 10,000 reviews

What can Google Maps Reviews Scraper do?

  • Scrape Google Maps reviews by place link, copied from the address bar or a maps.app.goo.gl share link

  • Get the lowest-rated Google reviews to find complaints fast

How to scrape Google Maps reviews

  1. Create a free Apify account (no credit card needed).
  2. Open Google Maps Reviews Scraper.
  3. Paste one or more Google Maps place URLs, or add Place IDs.
  4. Set Maximum reviews per place and a Sort order, then click Start.
  5. When the run finishes, download your reviews as Excel, CSV, JSON, HTML or XML.

Open Google Maps, search for the place, and copy the URL from the address bar. Short share links (for example maps.app.goo.gl/...) work too, and so do the place links from Google Maps Scraper (?q=place_id:...).

How much does it cost to scrape Google Maps reviews?

You pay per review, and the price drops on higher Apify plans:

Apify planReviews per 1,000
Free$0.50
Starter (Bronze)$0.40
Scale (Silver)$0.30
Business (Gold) and higher$0.25

Platform usage is included in these prices, so there is nothing else to pay for a run.

Example: 1,000 reviews cost $0.50 on the Free plan and $0.25 on Business.

Every Apify account gets $5 of free usage each month, so you can try it at no cost. See the Pricing tab for details. Maximum reviews per place keeps the cost of each run under control.

A review written in another language keeps its original text and gets textTranslated, for example a Spanish review "Excelente hotel. Y está cerca de todo. Lo recomiendo." comes with "Excellent hotel. And it's close to everything. I recommend it." Fields a review does not have, such as an owner response or text on a rating-only review, are null, so every row has the same shape.

Each run also saves a short report with the number of places and reviews, and any place that could not be scraped with the reason, for example "no reviews found: the place has none, or does not exist". The run status sums it up, such as "200 reviews from 3/3 sources (1 not found)".

How can I use Google Maps reviews data?

  • Reputation monitoring: follow what customers say about your locations and reply faster
  • Competitor research: see what people praise and complain about at rival businesses nearby
  • Local market research: compare ratings and review volume across a city or a chain's branches
  • Sentiment analysis and AI: build review datasets for sentiment, topic or trend analysis
  • Customer service audits: check how often, and how, owners reply to bad reviews

How to monitor new Google Maps reviews

  1. Set Sort order to Newest.
  2. Set Maximum reviews per place high enough to cover the reviews a place gets between two runs.
  3. Schedule the actor to run every day or every week.

Each run gives you the latest reviews first. Use reviewId to skip reviews you already have, and send the new ones to Slack, email or a spreadsheet with an integration.

Use it from your own code

Run the actor from your code with the Apify API or the Python client:

from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<YOUR_API_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("automly/google-maps-reviews-scraper").call(run_input={
"placeIds": ["0x89c25854a7ae21ef:0x6b416e49f061609c"],
"maxReviews": 1000,
"sort": "newest",
})
for review in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
print(review["rating"], review["publishedAt"], review["text"])

❓FAQ

How much does it cost to scrape Google Maps reviews?

From $0.50 per 1,000 reviews on the Free plan down to $0.25 on Business, with platform usage included. See the cost section above and the Pricing tab.

How many reviews can I scrape from one place?

Up to 50,000 per place, as many as Google Maps shows for it. Set Maximum reviews per place to the number you need.

Do I need a Google account or API key?

No. You don't need a Google account, cookies or a Google Places API key.

Why is the review text empty on some rows?

Some people leave only a star rating. Those reviews come with their rating, date and reviewer, and text is null. In our test of 1,000 newest reviews for a New York hotel, about 3 in 10 were rating-only.

placeName and placeUrl are filled when you add the place as a Google Maps link. When you add a bare place ID, they stay empty; use featureId to tell places apart.

Can I get reviews in another language?

Set Language to a two-letter code such as de. Dates are shown in that language, and reviews written in any other language come with textTranslated, a translation into it.

The place is listed as not found in the run status and the report, and the run still succeeds with the reviews from your other places.

Can I connect Google Maps Reviews Scraper to other tools or AI agents?

Yes. Start runs and download results with the Apify API or the Python and JavaScript clients, send results to Make, Zapier, n8n, Google Sheets or Slack with Apify integrations and webhooks, or let AI assistants and agents run it through the Apify MCP server at mcp.apify.com.

This scraper only collects reviews that people chose to post publicly. It does not collect private data such as email addresses or phone numbers. Reviews still contain personal data, such as reviewer names and photos, which may be protected by laws such as GDPR, so only scrape it for a legitimate reason and ask a lawyer if you are unsure. If you don't need reviewer details, turn off Include reviewer profile. You can read more in Is web scraping legal?

Google Maps Reviews Scraper is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google.
