What is Taobao Scraper?

Taobao Scraper is a tool that lets you scrape products from Taobao and Tmall: title, price in Chinese yuan (plus Hong Kong and Taiwan dollars, or the currency of 12 Taobao country storefronts), promotion label, shop, photos, category and product link, with an option to add the seller's profile (Taobao or Tmall, individual or business seller, credit level, shop opening date, number of products and its three service scores), the rating split, the newest review, where the product ships from and its category path. Search by keyword, open a category or a shop, or paste Taobao and Tmall product links, click Start, and download the products as Excel, CSV or JSON.

How to scrape Taobao

1. Create a free Apify account.
2. Open Taobao Scraper.
3. Enter search words, category ids, shop ids or product links, one per line.

The Products table shows photo, title, price, shop and rank; the Sellers and ratings table shows the seller profile, scores and the newest review. The run report (in the run's storage) lists every input with the products Taobao counts for it, what was saved, and any input that does not exist on Taobao.

How can I use Taobao data?

How many products can I scrape from one search?

Taobao shows its top 40 products for a search word or a category, and up to 60 for a shop, to visitors who are not logged in. To cover more of a market, add more search words (other phrasings, brands, models, Chinese and English), add the categories the products belong to (every row has its categoryId), and read the shops you find (every row has its shopId). A product found by several inputs is saved once.

❓FAQ

How much does it cost to scrape Taobao?

You pay per product saved, and products with seller and rating details cost a little more. The Pricing tab has the exact prices for your plan, and a new Apify account's monthly $5 of free usage covers a good first test.

Does it scrape Tmall too?

Yes. Tmall products show up in searches, categories and shops like any other, and Tmall links (detail.tmall.com, detail.tmall.hk) work as product links. With details on, platform says taobao or tmall, and taobaoUrl points to the right site.

Do I need a Taobao account?

No. The scraper only reads what Taobao shows to any visitor who is not logged in. You do not need an account, cookies or the Taobao app.

Does it give variants (SKUs), stock or sales numbers?

No. Taobao shows option lists with their prices and stock, sales counts and the full review list only to logged-in shoppers, so they are not in the data. You get the product's price (and hasPriceRange: true when the price depends on the option), the rating split and the newest review with the option that buyer chose.

Why is the title shortened on some products?

Taobao prints a shortened title on product pages. Products found by a search, category or shop always have their full title; a product pasted as a link has the title its page shows (pageTitle), ending in "...".

Which currencies and languages are supported?

The global storefront gives yuan prices with titles in traditional Chinese. The country storefronts (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Macau, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan and Canada) give search results in their own currency with titles in simplified Chinese. Every product also carries its yuan, Hong Kong dollar and Taiwan dollar prices.

What happens with a search word, product or shop that does not exist?

It is listed as not found in the run's log and report, and the run carries on with the other inputs. Taobao only has result lists for real product words, so a made-up word or a long sentence may have none: try a shorter word or its Chinese name.

Can I get more than 40 products for a keyword?

Taobao shows 40 per search word to visitors. Add related words, the categories and the shops you find to reach more; each product is saved once per run. See How many products can I scrape from one search?

Is it legal to scrape Taobao?

The scraper collects only public product and shop information that Taobao shows to anyone without logging in, and no personal data: reviewer names come masked by Taobao. Check the rules that apply to your use, such as copyright on photos and your local data laws. Taobao Scraper is not affiliated with or endorsed by Taobao, Tmall or Alibaba Group.
