How to scrape Xiaohongshu

About note links: copy the whole link, including the part after the question mark (?xsec_token=...). Xiaohongshu opens a note only with that part, so a link cut after the note ID returns nothing. Links from the browser address bar and the app's share links (xhslink.com, or the whole share text) work. Xiaohongshu keeps these links valid for a limited time, so scrape them soon after copying; if a link stops working, copy it again.

About Explore channels: Recommended gives the notes Xiaohongshu recommends right now. The topic channels (food, travel, fashion and so on) show visitors a collection of popular notes that are mostly older (many from 2023); every row has its publish date when you turn on full details.

Dates are ISO 8601 in UTC. Counts are numbers; Xiaohongshu rounds big counts (1.2万 = 12,000, 10万+ = 100,000), and the exact text it shows is kept in countsAsShown / likesAsShown. Emails and phone numbers typed into texts are left out.

Can I search Xiaohongshu by keyword?

Not at the moment. Xiaohongshu shows search results only to signed-in users, and this scraper never signs in. Use the Explore channels for trending notes, or paste note links from a search you ran yourself in the browser or app.

Are the Explore notes new?

The Recommended channel returns current notes. The topic channels return popular notes Xiaohongshu shows to visitors, many of them older; check publishedAt (with full details on) to filter by date.

How many comments can I get per note?

The comments Xiaohongshu shows to visitors who are not signed in: the first page of top comments (usually about 10), each with its first replies. More comments are shown only to signed-in users.

Why don't the latest notes of a profile have links?

Xiaohongshu shows visitors a profile's latest notes (title, cover, likes, date) without their links. To get full details of a creator's notes, open them in the browser or app and paste their links into Note details.

Do I need a Xiaohongshu account or cookies?

No. No account, cookies, QR login or phone number is needed.

What happens with a deleted note or a wrong link?

The run still succeeds. The note is listed as not found in the log and in the run report (report-summary). A link without its xsec_token part, an expired link, or a note Xiaohongshu shows only to signed-in users is listed as failed with a plain reason.

Can I download the images and videos?

Every row has the image links and the MP4 video link, ready to download. The links are signed by Xiaohongshu and stay valid for a limited time, so download the files soon after the run.

Can I use it with AI agents (MCP)?
