I'm trying to figure out how the hashtag search results are determined. I saw someone say in another issue that the search functionality is basically the same as using the TikTok search bar. I ran a small test for the hashtags "politics", limited to 5 profiles. It returned posts from years ago. When I search for that term on TikTok, I get results from the last day (see attached image). Can you explain what causes the difference? I tried upping the profile limit to 50 and it still was giving me results from the last several years.
Hi! Thanks for the issue. The hashtag page and search page are two different pages on TIkTok. Hashtag page (e.g. www.tiktok.com/tag/cats) is mostly static and indeed displays old results. If you are interested in getting results from the search page, you can add your search query in the Search section of the input (see screenshot, you can select Top section and disregard "Max profiles" as they don't apply here). Example run here: https://console.apify.com/view/runs/uR24HDI5P81hk03n7. Note that the scraper uses proxies for some specific countries (e.g. Canada), so it might not match your results
