UK Insolvency Notices — London Gazette Monitor

Monitor official UK insolvency notices from The Gazette — the Crown's official journal of public record (London, Edinburgh & Belfast editions). Every corporate insolvency event in the UK is legally required to be published here, and this actor gives you a clean, structured feed of it.

What you can track

Distress signals — the default set:

CodeNotice typeWhy it matters
2450Petitions to Wind Up (Companies)A creditor has asked the court to close the company — the earliest public distress signal
2452Winding-Up OrdersThe court has ordered liquidation
2441Resolutions for Winding UpShareholders have voted to liquidate (creditors' voluntary)
2443Appointment of LiquidatorsInsolvency practitioner appointed (creditors' voluntary)
2410Appointment of AdministratorsCompany entering administration

Other codes worth adding:

CodeNotice type
2442Meetings of Creditors
2446Notices to Creditors
2445Final Meetings
2451 / 2453Petitions / Winding-Up Orders — partnerships
2421Appointment of Administrative Receivers
2903Deceased Estates (not insolvency — probate research)

Not distress — solvent wind-ups. Codes 2431 and 2432 are members' voluntary liquidations: profitable companies being closed deliberately, usually for tax reasons. They are deliberately excluded from the default so they don't pollute a distress feed. Add them only if you want solvent wind-ups too.

Leave the notice types empty to fetch every Gazette notice type.

Who uses this data

  • Credit control & finance teams — early warning when a customer or supplier starts failing; a winding-up petition often appears weeks before anything shows on credit files
  • Debt recovery & insolvency practitioners — new cases as they publish
  • Asset & stock buyers — companies entering liquidation need to dispose of assets fast
  • Competitors & recruiters — a failing company's customers and staff are in play
  • Risk & compliance platforms — structured insolvency events to feed your models

What you get

Every record carries the complete notice text — not a preview. The actor reads each notice's official machine-readable record and parses the detail out of it.

Fields are only populated where the notice actually states them — a liquidator appointment has no hearing date, a Scottish petition is laid out differently from an English one. noticeText is always the complete text regardless of type.

Set Fetch full notice text & details to off for a faster, cheaper run that returns only the feed-level fields and contentPreview.

Turn on Also include notice HTML to additionally get noticeHtml, the notice body with its original markup (useful for preserving paragraphs and tables).

Full-notice fetch concurrency controls how many notices are fetched in parallel (default 5). Raise it to speed up big runs; keep it modest to stay polite to The Gazette's free service.

Typical usage

  • Weekly distress monitor: keep the default notice types, set daysBack to 7, and schedule weekly
  • Watch a specific company or town: set searchText
  • Historical research: set explicit publishedFrom / publishedTo dates — the archive goes back to the 1990s. Pre-digital notices still give you the full noticeText, but they predate the structured markup, so the individual fields (company number, court, hearing date) come back empty — the detail is in the text
  • Contactable leads: contactEmails, contactPhones and practitioners give you the office holder or solicitor handling each case

No API key, no login — The Gazette's data service is free and official.
