Scrape public data from Sina Weibo (新浪微博), China's biggest microblog, with no login and no cookie from you. Search posts by keyword, pull the live hot search board (热搜榜), get post details with the full long text, export comments with pagination, and read user profiles and their latest posts.
$3 per 1,000 rows. That's a fraction of the $35–75 per 1,000 that other Weibo actors charge. It's maintained daily against Weibo's site changes and handles Weibo's access protections for you.
A no-code Weibo API alternative: get Weibo data — posts, comments, hot search and profiles — as ready-to-use rows, with no developer account or approval process.
Why Weibo data matters
- Scale: Weibo had 561 million monthly active users and 254 million daily active users in June 2026 (Weibo Q2 2026 results).
- What it's used for: breaking news, celebrity and entertainment, product launches and public debate. The hot search board (热搜) is effectively China's live trending list.
- For brands: track mentions, campaign reactions and complaints as they happen, and spot a crisis while it's still a comment thread.
- For market researchers: measure topic momentum, compare competitor share of voice, and build time series from hourly hot-search snapshots.
- For AI / LLM teams: fresh, timestamped Chinese-language opinions for sentiment models, trend summarisation and RAG over current events.
What Weibo data you can scrape
| Mode | What you get | Input |
|---|---|---|
search | Posts for each keyword from Weibo's 综合, 实时 and 热门 tabs, merged and deduplicated | searchQueries |
hot_search | The live hot search board: rank, keyword, heat, label (热/新/沸) | (none) |
post_detail | One post with full text, counts, images, hashtags and author | postUrls |
post_comments | Comments of posts, paged with Weibo's own cursor | postUrls |
user_profile | Followers, following, post count, verification, bio | userIds |
user_posts | A user's latest posts | userIds |
Honest limits (no login)
Without a logged-in account Weibo serves only the first result page:
- about 10 posts per search tab, so up to about 30 unique posts per keyword per run;
- about 10 latest posts per user.
Schedule the actor (for example every hour) to build a continuous feed of new posts for a keyword. Comments, post details, profiles and the hot search board are not limited this way. This actor never logs in and never asks for your cookies.
Pricing (pay per event)
| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Run start | $0.001 |
| Row (post, comment, user or hot-search entry) | $0.003 ($3 per 1,000) |
Error rows are free. maxChargeUsd (default $5) stops the run cleanly before it goes over.

Compact output for AI agents
Set Output format to compact and the run still pushes the same rows to the dataset
at the same price — nothing about billing changes. It additionally writes OUTPUT_COMPACT
to the run's key-value store: our token-optimized, lossless encoding of the same rows, built to
be cheaper to hand to an LLM than the plain dataset JSON.
Measured on a real 119-row export of this actor's output:
| Tokenizer | Pretty JSON | Minified JSON | Compact | vs Pretty | vs Minified |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| cl100k_base (GPT-4/3.5) | 24,878 | 20,124 | 19,321 | 22.3% smaller | 4.0% smaller |
| o200k_base (GPT-4o) | 22,611 | 17,879 | 17,010 | 24.8% smaller | 4.9% smaller |
Need regular row objects in your own code? The normal dataset is always there, unchanged, alongside the compact copy.
Monitor mode
Schedule this actor and set Output mode to changesOnly to get a diff instead of a full
re-export: the first run records a baseline, and every run after that reports only posts,
comments, users, or hot-search keywords that are new, changed (with a changedFields
list), or removed since last time. Removed rows carry just the item's id. Use Monitor name
if you run more than one monitor and want to keep their baselines separate, and Report removed
items / Fields to ignore to tune what counts as a change. Default mode (all) is
unaffected — it always exports everything, every run. In changesOnly, every new/changed row is
billed as a changed row in addition to the normal per-row charge — see Pricing below; a removed
row is billed as a changed row only (there's no per-row charge for an item that wasn't actually
fetched this run); unchanged rows are free and aren't pushed.
AI labels (optional)
Turn on Add AI labels to add AI brand-relevance and spam filtering to each post row
(search, post detail, and a user's latest posts — not comments, hot search, or profiles):
a brandRelevant flag (only when Brand to match is set) and a spam flag, each with
its own confidence score. Below a label's confidence cutoff, that label comes back as
low_confidence instead of a guess — never a coin-flip label. This is billed per post
actually labeled, in addition to that row's own charge; it never blocks a row's own
delivery if the run's budget is tight — see Pricing below.
Privacy
Rows contain public content plus the author's public nickname and id only. This actor does not collect gender, location, IP region (发布于…) or avatars.
Reliability
A self-test runs every day against live Weibo. If Weibo blocks every request in a run, the run is marked failed instead of ending green with 0 rows, so your schedule alerts fire.
Run it on a schedule
Suggested frequency: hourly for hot search trend tracking, every few hours to daily for brand mentions, weekly for KOL profile tracking. Monitor mode returns only new or changed rows, so frequent runs stay cheap.
To set it up: save your input as a Task in Apify Console, then add a Schedule. Send results where you work with Apify integrations: Google Sheets, Slack or email notifications, webhooks, Make / Zapier / n8n, or straight into an AI agent through the Apify MCP server. A run that can't get data is marked failed, so your alerts fire.
FAQ
Is there an official Weibo API? Weibo's open platform requires a Chinese developer account and app review, and access is limited. This actor gives you public Weibo data right away, with no account.
What are the alternatives to scraping Weibo? Manual copy-paste, paid social-listening suites, or building your own tool. This actor is the pay-per-use option: no subscription, $3 per 1,000 rows.
Can I track Weibo hot search over time? Yes. Schedule the hot search mode hourly and you build your own trend history.
Can I use it with AI agents? Yes. It works through the Apify MCP server, and the compact output is sized for LLM context windows.
Do I need to write Chinese keywords? Chinese keywords return far more posts. Brand names in Latin script (e.g. iPhone) also work.
