Check an EPUB container without rendering or rewriting publication content. Supply the authorized EPUB as base64 in epubBase64; set mode to repairPackaging only when you want the optional reversible packaging rewrite.
The only repair is a package rewrite when a valid existing mimetype entry is not first, is compressed, or has ZIP extra fields. The original is never overwritten. Content defects prevent repair.
Limits: 20 MiB compressed input, 100 MiB expanded, 2,000 archive entries, 4 MiB per inspected XML file. Unsafe paths, duplicate ZIP names, ZIP encryption, unsupported compression and DTD/entity-bearing XML are rejected.
The report contains structural locations and hashes, not publication text. Layout, CSS, accessibility, DRM, rights, retailer acceptance and reading-system behavior are outside scope. This is not EPUBCheck certification.
Delivery: open Output or Storage for the REPORT JSON record and, when eligible and requested, REPAIRED_EPUB. One completed report is also written to the dataset.
Pricing: $0.10 per completed report, including buyer-readable refusal reports, plus a $0.00005 Actor-start event per GB of memory (minimum one event). Platform usage is included. The minimum permitted buyer run budget is $0.10005.
Privacy: original input remains in the private run INPUT store. Hashing report values does not remove or encrypt retained input. Supply only data you are authorized to process.
Support: preserve the run ID and use a redacted synthetic example to report a reproducible defect. Billing/refund requests follow Apify’s platform process. No custom book production or manual file handling is included.
