Verify notary public commissions in bulk from official Secretary of State registries — five states, one schema, every record in the same shape.
Who this is for
Title and escrow companies confirming a signing agent is commissioned. Lenders and signing services building or auditing a notary panel. E&O insurers and notary-supply vendors reaching newly commissioned notaries. Compliance teams checking that a commission on file has not lapsed.
What you get
One record per commission: full_name split into first_name / middle_name / last_name, the commission number as license_number, issue_date and expiration_date in MM/DD/YYYY (with _iso twins for sorting), expires_in_days, and a computed status of active or lapsed.
No state publishes a status column for notaries — a commission simply runs until it expires — so standing is computed from the expiration date, and every record says so plainly in status_basis: "computed from expiration date". Delaware issues some commissions with no expiration; those carry the state's own 12/11/3000 sentinel and are treated as live.
Where a state publishes it, you also get electronic_notary and remote_notary (Colorado, Delaware), commission_type (New York), county (New York), and Texas's bonding agency, surety company and the contact email Texas prints in the public record.
One schema across every state
Every licence roster in this catalogue delivers the same columns, in the same order, meaning the same thing — whichever state the record came from. Stack this dataset on top of any other KempData roster and the columns line up. Names arrive SHOUTING and glued together; they leave as full_name, first_name, middle_name, last_name in proper case. Dates are MM/DD/YYYY, with an _iso twin for spreadsheets and imports.
The state's own word is never thrown away. name_raw holds the source's exact rendering. state is always the registry's state; where a state publishes the notary's own mailing state it is in mailing_state.

Input
states— which registries to pull; empty means all five.recordFilter—all, expiringSoon(commissions expiring withinexpiringWithinMonths), ornewLicenses(commissioned withinnewWithinMonths). The renewal window is the moment a notary buys a new bond, stamp and E&O policy.onlyActive— default true; set false to include lapsed commissions (the recall pool).maxRecords— hard cap; the run also honours your Apify maximum-charge setting.
Data source & fair use
Official state open-data APIs only — the Socrata portals each Secretary of State publishes. No HTML scraping; paged, rate-limited requests. Contact fields are delivered only where the state itself publishes them in the open record.
Pricing
Pay per record delivered: $2.50 per 1,000 records, plus a nominal start fee. Filters run before delivery, so you are never charged for a record you did not ask for. Set a maximum charge on the run to cap spend.
