Google News Scraper: articles, real publisher URLs and monitoring
Scrape Google News search results, top stories and topic sections. Every article includes:
- the real publisher URL, resolved from the
news.google.comredirect; - title, source, publication date, and the Google News link;
- related coverage of the same story from other outlets, for top stories.
Why this one:
- $1 per 1,000 articles, publisher URLs included. No start fee, no monthly rent.
- Past the 100-result cap. A Google News search returns at most 100 articles. Set a date range and the Actor searches one day at a time. In a test, "bitcoin" over 6 days returned 400 unique articles in 15 seconds.
- Monitoring mode (
onlyNewArticles): schedule it, and each run returns only articles you haven't seen yet. - Any edition: any language and country, e.g.
en/US,fr/FR,en/KE,pt-BR/BR. - Google News operators work:
"exact phrase",OR,-exclude,site:reuters.com,intitle:. - No browser, no login. Runs on Apify's datacenter proxy.
Use cases
- Brand and competitor monitoring: a daily feed of every article that mentions you or a competitor, pushed to Slack, Sheets or a webhook.
- PR and media lists: which outlets cover a topic, and how often.
- Finance and crypto news signals: timestamped headlines for a ticker or coin, ready for sentiment models.
- Research and datasets: news coverage over time for any topic, in any country edition.
- AI and RAG pipelines: fresh article URLs to fetch and summarize. AI agents calling this Actor through the Apify MCP server get a one-line summary in the status message.
Ready-made tasks (one click to run)
- Monitor new news articles about a brand (daily)
- Crypto news from the last 24 hours (Bitcoin, Ethereum)
- Top news stories and business news by country

The SUMMARY record lists, for each query or topic, the articles saved, the date span, the top 5 sources and the newest headline. The run's status message says the same in one line:

Failed feeds are never charged. Set a maximum cost per run and the Actor stops cleanly.
Notes and limits
- Google News lists what it chooses to index. Small outlets may be missing, and counts differ by edition.
- Publication dates come from Google News, and some are rounded to the hour or day.
- If a publisher URL can't be resolved, the row keeps the Google News link and
articleUrlisnull. In our tests, 190 of 190 resolved. - The Actor reads Google News' public RSS feeds. It doesn't fetch the article text from publishers.
FAQ
How do I get every article about a topic for a whole month? Set dateFrom and dateTo, and raise maxArticlesPerQuery, e.g. to 3,000. The Actor runs one search per day and removes duplicates.
How do I get alerts for new articles?
- Turn on
onlyNewArticles. - Save the input as a task.
- Schedule it hourly or daily.
- Connect the dataset to Slack, email, Google Sheets or a webhook with Apify integrations.
Can I search in another language? Yes. Set language and country to the edition you want, e.g. de + DE.
