Romania Company Check (CUI)
Check any Romania legal entity by its CUI/CIF (fiscal code of the legal entity) in one call and get a clean English JSON answer with red flags, source attribution and a date on every field. Built for AI agents (MCP) and for KYB / AML onboarding, counterparty and supplier due diligence, vendor risk and compliance checks.
- One number → one answer from official open registers plus GLEIF Global LEI Index: Level 1 (LEI-CDF), Level 2 (RR-CDF), Reporting Exceptions and Official sanctions lists: US OFAC (SDN and Consolidated non-SDN), EU consolidated financial sanctions (FSF), UK Sanctions List (FCDO) — legal entities only.
- One schema for every country: the same fields and flags whether you check one Romania company or a thousand — your agent parses one format.
- Agent-ready: an MCP server (Streamable HTTP,
/mcp) withcheck_company,check_companiesandlist_sources, a plainGET /check?country=&id=endpoint, and classic batch runs (list of numbers → dataset). - Change history: registers publish only the current state; we keep our own snapshots, so every answer shows
what was added or removed since
history_since(e.g. a status change or a new sanctions listing). - Pay per check ($0.05 per company), no subscription. Malformed numbers, sole traders and individuals are not charged. In Standby (MCP / HTTP) mode Apify also bills the small platform usage of the server run, as for every Standby Actor. Set a maximum cost per run in Apify to cap spending: when it is reached, the Actor returns an error instead of data.
What we check
Data refreshed at least weekly (from the latest published files: the Romania register is published monthly, so its data can be up to a month old); every field carries its source date (provenance), and every answer lists each source with the date it was loaded (sources[].loaded_at; list_sources is free).
flags — true is a red flag: not_found (the number is not in the register dump), not_active, insolvency,
liquidation, sanctions (match by registration number or LEI), sanctions_name_match (same name, same
country: verify manually). false means there is no record in the loaded snapshot — it is not a clean bill
of health. null means unknown. Call list_sources (free) for load times.
Romania: ONRC covers only legal entities of the trade register (companies, cooperatives, autonomous enterprises, EEIGs, branches), live and deregistered. Associations, foundations, public authorities and municipalities, liberal professions (lawyers, notaries, doctors' practices) and other entities outside the trade register share the same CUI space but are not covered: no record here means unknown, not fictitious. A valid CUI/CIF without a record therefore returns not_found: null (unknown, not fictitious) and is not charged.
Romania notes. status is derived from ONRC state codes (all codes are in extra.register_states, Romanian text plus English where translated): deregistered (radiată) → dissolved; bankruptcy, insolvency, judicial reorganisation → insolvency; dissolution and liquidation → in_liquidation; temporary interruption or suspension of activity → inactive; operating → active. Country flags (true = red, null for deregistered companies): activity_suspended, dissolution_pending, registered_office_expired (very common: about 200 thousand live companies whose registered-office document has expired — a real but weak signal), criminal_proceedings, asset_seizure, shares_seized (shares of a member seized, not the company's own assets), international_sanctions, parent_insolvency. industry lists the CAEN activities the company is authorised for, not its main activity (the open dataset has no main activity). The dataset has no state dates, so dissolved_at is always null. Besides the CUI you can pass a trade register number (J40/1116/1991 or J2024033893008) or EUID (ROONRC.J40/1116/1991) of a company in the dataset. Names of general and limited partnerships (SNC, SCS) by law contain a partner's name; such names are returned as registered.
Identifiers
| Country | Identifier | Format | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Romania (RO) | CUI/CIF (fiscal code of the legal entity) | 2-10 digits with a check digit, optional RO prefix (e.g. 14399840 or RO14399840); a trade register number (J40/1116/1991, J2024033893008) or EUID (ROONRC.J40/1116/1991) is accepted only if it belongs to a legal entity in the dataset | 14399840 |
Spaces, dashes and a country prefix are accepted. Legal entities only: sole traders and other natural persons are not supported, not stored and not charged. No data about people (officers, owners, contacts) is ever returned; addresses are city level only.
