What is the Threads Replies Scraper?

It is a Threads replies scraper: give it post URLs and it saves the replies under each post as rows of structured data. It also serves as a Threads comments scraper, since replies are how Threads shows comments.

Do I need an account, cookies or an API key?

No. The Actor reads what Threads shows a logged-out visitor, so there is nothing to log in with and no account of yours at risk.

Do I need a proxy?

Proxies are included in the price and chosen automatically, so the default works without changes. To use your own proxies, select "Own proxies" in the input and enter their URLs.

How many replies can I get per post?

maxItems caps replies per post URL. Threads decides how many replies it shows a logged-out visitor, and that differs between posts and between visits: some posts show every reply, others stop after the first page. When Threads stops early on a post that lists many more replies, the Actor visits the post again from another IP, up to three visits, and keeps adding replies it has not seen. In our tests on a post with about 500 direct replies, runs collected 320 to 450 of them.

Does it get replies to replies?

It saves every reply Threads shows on the post's page, including the replies shown beneath a reply, marked with depth 2 or more. Threads shows only part of a long side conversation on the post page; to read all of it, run the reply's own URL as a post.

Does it handle pagination automatically?

Yes. It keeps loading further pages of replies until maxItems is reached or Threads shows no more.
