Get a demoDear Developer,
I’m reaching out to seek assistance with the setup of your Google Maps Email Extractor program, which I chose specifically for its potential to help with extracting emails.
Here’s the issue I’ve encountered: after the initial configuration, I specified Hungary, limiting it to a specific region within the country. However, I ran into an error stating that "xv," "db," and "hd" fields were missing. This left me confused, as when I use the same keyword directly in Google Maps, it returns results without any problem. Could you clarify what additional information I need to provide in this case?
To troubleshoot, I selected a city within the region and entered its Google Maps HTML link as the starting URL. Unfortunately, this only returned a single result, which was unexpected.
I’m unsure where the setup went wrong. Would it be possible for you to help configure it for me once? If so, I’m confident that I’ll be able to apply the same setup to the remaining 18 regions on my own.
Thank you for your help, and I look forward to your guidance on resolving this issue!
Best regards, Zsolt
Hey,
to successfully run this actor, you need to set either:
- 🔍 Search term(s) (put here the phrase that describes what you look for - as you would put it into Google Maps search bar)
- 🔗 Use a Google Maps URL instead of search terms (for one place (e.g. one restaurant), or list of places by URL)
After that, everything else should be optional (e.g. setting the Country, State, etc.)
Also, please take a look at this site to test your Location Query (e.g. Hungary, Bács-Kiskun vármegye). The map will highlight a region on the map base on your Location Query. You can play with the query a bit and once satisfied, put it into the 📍 Location (only use ONE location at a time)
field.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
Many thanks for your kind reply. Here is a short video that I made. For me it seems useless. https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/video/32852197?key=9c64de3f1d9a31f213819d3cbc20a210
maybe you can help me out with a better parameterization.
Currently, this actor needs either a search term of google maps place URL. We will discuss enabling search without these parameters to return all possible places, and will let you know.
Also, I watched your video. The Google Maps URLs are only for Places (e.g. ONE pin on the map). That is why you got only 1 result each time you input that into the actor.
About the results without emails - there are Places which yield no emails, because there are simply none associated with some of them.
About the actor being named "Email extractor" and having more features - it is a legacy name, which we did not want to change.
And finally, about extracting the data:
- You can select only the 3 fields that you want in the "export dataset" window, which you found
- You must wait a bit (could be a few minutes in some cases) after stopping the actor run, before you can select which fields to extract
As I said before, we will tell you of our decision on adding the All places search (without a search term) to this actor. You could then use the 📍 Location (only use ONE location at a time) field to limit the scraped area.
Hey, just wanted to inform you that the "All places no search" feature that I mentioned earlier is not doable.
So please, if you want to get emails and other contact information, either use search phrases, or Google Maps place URLs. You can potentially obtain these URLs via Google Maps Scraper (that actor has the ability to find all places on a map without a search phrase).
