What does Facebook URL to ID do?

Facebook URL to ID resolves Facebook links and usernames to their permanent numeric identifiers. For every input it returns the ID, the type (page, profile or group), the name, the username, the canonical URL, and for pages also the legacy page ID that older tools and ad platforms use. For post, video, photo and event links it also returns the content ID alongside the ID of the page, profile or group it belongs to.

Tips

• Mixed input is fine: vanity URLs, profile.php?id= links, mobile links and bare usernames.
• Private profiles and closed groups still resolve when Facebook shows their public header.

FAQ

Which ID should I use for ads tools? Most modern tools accept id. Some legacy tools expect legacyPageId for pages.

Is it legal? It reads only public identifiers. Use them in line with Facebook's terms.
