🌍 Economic Indicators & Exchange Rates MCP Server
Economic Indicators & Exchange Rates MCP Server is an MCP server that gives Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and other MCP clients the economic statistics of five public institutions: the World Bank's World Development Indicators, Eurostat, the European Central Bank, the OECD and the IMF. Its 14 read-only tools return country series and rankings, EU statistics, euro reference exchange rates, the ECB key interest rates, OECD leading indicators and IMF World Economic Outlook figures with their projections, and one search tool finds the right indicator across the five. The server is independent and not affiliated with any of these institutions. ECB statistics are available free of charge on the ECB website, https://data.ecb.europa.eu/.
Ask Claude "Compare GDP growth in France, Germany and Italy since 2015." It calls econ_get_world_bank_series with the indicator NY.GDP.MKTP.KD.ZG and the country codes FRA, DEU and ITA, then answers with one value per country and year, the date the World Bank last updated the series and the attribution line to quote. You do not need the indicator code beforehand: econ_search_indicators finds it from "gdp growth" and names the tool to call next.
What this server exposes
This server gives an AI client 14 read-only tools over the open data of five public institutions. From the World Bank's World Development Indicators it reads a series for up to 20 countries, ranks every economy on one indicator and builds a country snapshot with eight headline figures. From Eurostat it reads six EU datasets (GDP, quarterly GDP, HICP inflation, unemployment, government debt and deficit, population) for EU, EFTA and candidate countries, with a tool that lists the filter codes of each dataset. From the European Central Bank it returns the euro foreign exchange reference rates, their history, conversions between two currencies through the euro, and the three key interest rates. From the OECD it reads five curated series: quarterly GDP growth, CPI inflation, unemployment, the composite leading indicator and long-term interest rates. From the IMF it reads the 15 World Economic Outlook indicators of the IMF DataMapper, history from 1980 and IMF projections about five years ahead, for countries, regions and groups such as advanced economies, with a tool that lists the IMF area codes. One search tool finds an indicator across the five providers. No account or API key is needed, and every answer names its source. This server is not affiliated with the World Bank, Eurostat, the ECB, the OECD or the IMF.

econ_search_indicators: Search indicators across providers
Use this when you need the id of an economic indicator or dataset before reading it, for example youth unemployment, GDP per capita, HICP inflation or the yen exchange rate, and want to know which provider has it. Do not use for reading values: call the tool named in next_tool with next_arguments plus the parameters named in also_required (for example countries for a World Bank series). Parameters: query (words, e.g. "gdp per capita"), provider (optional: "world_bank", "eurostat", "ecb", "oecd" or "imf"), limit (1-50, default 10), offset (default 0), response_format ("concise" default, or "detailed" to add descriptions of up to 300 characters and source organisations). Covers about 1,500 World Development Indicators plus the curated Eurostat datasets, ECB series, OECD indicators and IMF World Economic Outlook indicators this server reads.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
query | string | yes | "gdp per capita" |
provider | "world_bank" or "eurostat" or "ecb" or "oecd" or "imf" | no | "world_bank" |
limit | integer | no | 10 |
offset | integer | no | 0 |
response_format | "concise" or "detailed" | no | "concise" |
Returns { query, results[], pagination, notices[], attributions[] }. Upstream: World Bank, Eurostat, ECB, OECD, IMF. Cache: reference (30 days). Read-only.
econ_get_world_bank_series: Get a World Bank indicator time series
Use this when you need a World Bank World Development Indicators (WDI) time series of one indicator for 1 to 20 countries or aggregates, for example GDP growth of France, Germany and Italy since 2015. Do not use for finding an indicator code (econ_search_indicators), ranking every country (econ_compare_countries) or Eurostat, ECB and OECD data. Parameters: indicator_id (WDI code, e.g. "NY.GDP.MKTP.KD.ZG"), countries (ISO3, ISO2 or aggregate codes, e.g. ["FRA", "DEU"]), start_year and end_year (e.g. 2015 and 2024) or most_recent (1 to 20 latest non-empty values per country, default 5 when no year is given), limit (1 to 500, default 100), offset, response_format ("concise" or "detailed" to add observation status, decimals and last update). Rows are sorted by country in the requested order, then by year, newest first. Empty values are dropped and counted.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
indicator_id | string | yes | "NY.GDP.MKTP.KD.ZG" |
countries | array of string | yes | ["FRA","DEU","ITA"] |
start_year | integer | no | 2015 |
end_year | integer | no | 2024 |
most_recent | integer | no | 5 |
limit | integer | no | 100 |
offset | integer | no | 0 |
response_format | "concise" or "detailed" | no | "concise" |
Returns { indicator, countries[], period, rows[], null_values_dropped, countries_without_data[], last_updated, pagination, attribution }. Upstream: World Bank. Cache: daily (1 day). Read-only.
econ_compare_countries: Rank countries on a World Bank indicator
Use this when you need to rank every economy on one World Bank World Development Indicators (WDI) indicator, for example the highest GDP per capita, on the latest non-empty value of each country or on a fixed year. Do not use for the time series of a few countries (econ_get_world_bank_series) or for finding an indicator code (econ_search_indicators). Parameters: indicator_id (WDI code, e.g. "NY.GDP.PCAP.CD"), year (optional, e.g. 2023, default the latest value of each country), include_aggregates (default false, true also ranks regions and income groups), order ("desc" default or "asc"), limit (1 to 300, default 20), offset, response_format ("concise" or "detailed" to add region and income level). Countries without a value are left out and counted. The ranking is computed by this server.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
indicator_id | string | yes | "NY.GDP.PCAP.CD" |
year | integer | no | 2023 |
include_aggregates | boolean | no | false |
order | "desc" or "asc" | no | "desc" |
limit | integer | no | 20 |
offset | integer | no | 0 |
response_format | "concise" or "detailed" | no | "concise" |
Returns { indicator, year, include_aggregates, order, rows[], excluded, pagination, attribution }. Upstream: World Bank. Cache: daily (1 day). Read-only.
econ_get_country_profile: Get a World Bank economic snapshot of a country
Use this when you need an economic snapshot of one country from the World Bank: region, income level, capital and eight headline World Development Indicators with their latest non-empty value and year (GDP in current US$, GDP growth, GDP per capita, consumer price inflation, unemployment, population, central government debt and current account balance, both in % of GDP). Do not use for a time series (econ_get_world_bank_series), a ranking (econ_compare_countries) or monthly euro area data (econ_get_eurostat_series). Parameter: country (ISO3 or ISO2 code, e.g. "BRA" or "BR"). Regions and income groups such as "LCN" are accepted and answered without region, income level and capital. A headline value is null when the World Bank has none for this country.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
country | string | yes | "BRA" |
Returns { country, headline[], omitted_indicators[], attribution }. Upstream: World Bank. Cache: daily (1 day). Read-only.
econ_list_countries: List World Bank countries and classifications
Use this when you need World Bank country codes and classifications, or the economies of a region, an income group or both, for example the upper-middle-income countries of Latin America. Do not use for indicator values (econ_get_country_profile, econ_get_world_bank_series) or Eurostat country codes. Parameters: region (World Bank region code, e.g. "LCN" for Latin America & Caribbean), income_level (e.g. "UMC" upper middle income or "LIC" low income), include_aggregates (default false, true also lists regions, income groups and other aggregates when no filter is set), limit (1 to 300, default 50, at most 150 in detailed mode), offset, response_format ("concise" or "detailed" to add capital, lending type, admin region and coordinates). An unknown code is answered with the list of valid ones. Results are sorted by name.

|---|---|---|---|
region | string | no | "LCN" |
income_level | string | no | "UMC" |
include_aggregates | boolean | no | false |
limit | integer | no | 50 |
offset | integer | no | 0 |

Returns { filters, countries[], pagination, attribution }. Upstream: World Bank. Cache: reference (30 days). Read-only.
econ_get_eurostat_series: Get Eurostat statistics
Use this when you need official Eurostat statistics for EU, EFTA or candidate countries from six datasets: nama_10_gdp (GDP, annual), namq_10_gdp (GDP, quarterly), prc_hicp_minr (HICP inflation, monthly), une_rt_m (unemployment, monthly), gov_10dd_edpt1 (government deficit and debt), demo_pjan (population). Do not use for other countries (Eurostat licence, use the World Bank or OECD tools) or to find dimension codes (econ_get_eurostat_dimensions). Parameters: dataset (one of the six codes), geo (1 to 30 Eurostat codes, e.g. ["FR","DE","EU27_2020"], Greece is EL), filters (dimension to codes, e.g. {"unit":["CLV_I10"]}), since and until (YYYY, YYYY-MM, YYYY-QN or YYYY-SN) or last_periods (1 to 20, default 5), lang (EN, FR, DE), limit (1 to 100, default 50), offset, response_format (concise or detailed). econ_get_eurostat_dimensions: List Eurostat dataset dimensions
Use this when you need the codes you can filter on in one of the six Eurostat datasets served by econ_get_eurostat_series: every dimension except geo and time, with codes and labels (at most 200 per dimension), the country codes this server accepts and the latest period. Do not use for data values (econ_get_eurostat_series) or for datasets outside the six. Parameters: dataset (one of nama_10_gdp, namq_10_gdp, prc_hicp_minr, une_rt_m, gov_10dd_edpt1, demo_pjan, e.g. "une_rt_m"), lang (label language EN, FR or DE, default EN), dimension (optional, one dimension id such as "coicop18", to list all its codes), limit (codes per page with dimension, 1 to 500, default 200), offset. Codes come from the EU27_2020 slice at the latest period, so a code used only by some countries may be missing.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
dataset | "nama_10_gdp" or "namq_10_gdp" or "prc_hicp_minr" or "une_rt_m" or "gov_10dd_edpt1" or "demo_pjan" | yes | "nama_10_gdp" |

offset | integer | no | 200 |
Returns { dataset, latest_period, dimensions[], allowed_geo[], allowed_aggregates, notices[], pagination, attribution }. Upstream: Eurostat. Cache: daily (1 day). Read-only.
econ_get_exchange_rates: Get euro reference exchange rates
Use this when you need the ECB euro foreign exchange reference rates of one day: the latest publication, or the rates in force on a past date. Each rate is in units of the currency per 1 euro, as published by the ECB for information purposes only. Do not use for a series over time (use econ_get_exchange_rate_history) or to express an amount in another currency (use econ_convert_currency). Parameters: currencies (optional array of 1 to 30 ISO 4217 codes, EUR excluded, e.g. ["USD", "JPY"], default every currency published on the latest date), date (optional YYYY-MM-DD from 1999-01-04, e.g. "2025-03-03", default the latest publication). On a weekend or a TARGET closing day, each rate is the last one published before the date and shows its own rate_date.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
currencies | array of string | no | ["USD","JPY"] |
date | string | no | "2025-03-03" |
Returns { base_currency, quote, requested_date, rate_date, rates[], not_found[], notes[], attribution }. Upstream: ECB. Cache: intraday (5 minutes). Read-only.
econ_get_exchange_rate_history: Get the history of a euro reference exchange rate
Use this when you need how one euro reference exchange rate moved over a period, as daily, monthly or annual ECB values in units of the currency per 1 euro. Do not use for every currency on one day (use econ_get_exchange_rates) or to express an amount in another currency (use econ_convert_currency). Parameters: currency (ISO 4217 code, not EUR, e.g. "GBP"), frequency ("daily" default, "monthly" or "annual", the ECB averages for those two), start (required, YYYY-MM-DD for daily, YYYY-MM for monthly, YYYY for annual, e.g. "2026-01-01"), end (optional, same format, default the latest publication), limit (1 to 500, default 100), offset (default 0), response_format ("concise" default, "detailed" adds the observation status). Rows are newest first.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
currency | string | yes | "GBP" |
frequency | "daily" or "monthly" or "annual" | no | "daily" |
start | string | yes | "2026-01-01" |
end | string | no | "2026-06-30" |
limit | integer | no | 100 |
offset | integer | no | 0 |
response_format | "concise" or "detailed" | no | "concise" |
Returns { currency, currency_name, base_currency, frequency, quote, start, end, first_period, last_period, rows[], pagination, notes[], attribution }. Upstream: ECB. Cache: daily (1 day). Read-only.
econ_convert_currency: Convert an amount at the ECB euro reference rates
Use this when you need an amount expressed in another currency at the ECB euro reference rates of one day, for example 2500 CHF in USD. The server divides by the euro rate of the source currency and multiplies by the euro rate of the target currency, both from the same publication date, so the result is derived by this server and not published by the ECB. The rates are for information purposes only. Do not use for the rates themselves (use econ_get_exchange_rates) or for a history (use econ_get_exchange_rate_history). Parameters: amount (number above 0, e.g. 2500), from and to (different ISO 4217 codes, EUR allowed on either side, e.g. "CHF" and "USD"), date (optional YYYY-MM-DD from 1999-01-04, e.g. "2026-09-25", default the latest publication).
| Parameter | Type | Required | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
amount | number | yes | 2500 |
from | string | yes | "CHF" |
to | string | yes | "USD" |
date | string | no | "2026-09-25" |
Returns { amount, from, to, converted_amount, cross_rate, cross_rate_quote, rate_date, requested_date, eur_rates, derived, method, notes[], attribution }. Upstream: ECB. Cache: intraday (5 minutes). Read-only.
econ_get_ecb_key_rates: Get the ECB key interest rates
Use this when you need the three key ECB interest rates (main refinancing operations, deposit facility, marginal lending facility) in percent per annum with the date each level took effect, optionally with their earlier changes. Do not use for market or government bond yields (use econ_get_oecd_indicator for OECD long-term interest rates) or for euro exchange rates (use econ_get_exchange_rates). Parameter: changes (integer 1 to 20, default 1, e.g. 3) is the number of most recent levels returned per rate. 1 gives the levels in force, 3 adds the two previous changes, newest first. The ECB publishes these series on change dates only, so each effective_date is the day a decision applied.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
changes | integer | no | 1 |
Returns { unit, latest_change_date, rates[], notes[], attribution }. Upstream: ECB. Cache: daily (1 day). Read-only.
econ_get_oecd_indicator: Get an OECD economic indicator
Use this when you need one of five curated OECD series for OECD members and aggregates such as G7, EA (euro area) or EU: real GDP growth (quarterly), CPI inflation, unemployment rate, composite leading indicator (CLI) or long-term interest rates. Do not use for other OECD datasets, World Bank or Eurostat series (econ_get_world_bank_series, econ_get_eurostat_series) or ECB policy rates (econ_get_ecb_key_rates). Parameters: indicator (enum, e.g. "cpi_inflation"), countries (optional ISO3 or area codes, e.g. ["DEU","G7"]), frequency (optional "monthly", "quarterly" or "annual"), start_period and end_period (optional "YYYY", "YYYY-MM" or "YYYY-Qn", default last 5 years, max 20 years back), limit (1-300, default 120, max 150 when detailed), offset, response_format (concise default, detailed adds unit and status). Rows are newest first: page 1 has the latest value of each area.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
indicator | "gdp_growth_quarterly" or "cpi_inflation" or "unemployment_rate" or "composite_leading_indicator" or "long_term_interest_rate" | yes | "cpi_inflation" |
countries | array of string | no | ["DEU","FRA","ITA"] |
frequency | "monthly" or "quarterly" or "annual" | no | "monthly" |
start_period | string | no | "2024-01" |
end_period | string | no | "2025-12" |
limit | integer | no | 120 |
offset | integer | no | 0 |
response_format | "concise" or "detailed" | no | "concise" |
Returns { indicator, period, rows[], areas[], missing_countries[], notes[], pagination, attribution }. Upstream: OECD. Cache: daily (1 day). Read-only.
econ_get_imf_indicator: Get an IMF World Economic Outlook indicator
Use this when you need IMF World Economic Outlook figures, history and IMF projections about five years ahead, for countries, regions or groups such as advanced economies or the world: real GDP growth, GDP and GDP per capita (U.S. dollars or PPP), inflation, unemployment, population, current account, government balance and gross debt. Do not use for other IMF datasets or for World Bank, Eurostat or OECD series (econ_search_indicators finds them). Parameters: indicator (WEO code, e.g. "NGDP_RPCH" real GDP growth, "PCPIPCH" inflation, "GGXWDG_NGDP" gross debt), areas (1 to 20 IMF codes, e.g. ["USA","DEU","ADVEC"], see econ_list_imf_areas), start_year and end_year (default the current year minus 5 to plus 5, at most 30 years), include_projections (default true), limit, offset, response_format. Rows are newest first, each flagged as a projection or not.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
indicator | "NGDP_RPCH" or "NGDPD" or "NGDPDPC" or "PPPGDP" or "PPPPC" or "PPPSH" or "PPPEX" or "PCPIPCH" or "PCPIEPCH" or "LP" or "LUR" or "BCA" or "BCA_NGDPD" or "GGXCNL_NGDP" or "GGXWDG_NGDP" | yes | "NGDP_RPCH" |
areas | array of string | yes | ["USA","DEU","ADVEC"] |
start_year | integer | no | 2020 |
end_year | integer | no | 2030 |
include_projections | boolean | no | true |
limit | integer | no | 100 |
offset | integer | no | 0 |
response_format | "concise" or "detailed" | no | "concise" |
Returns { indicator, period, areas[], missing_areas[], areas_without_data[], rows[], projection_from_year, null_values_dropped, notes[], pagination, attribution }. Upstream: IMF. Cache: daily (1 day). Read-only.
econ_list_imf_areas: List IMF countries, regions and groups
Use this when you need the IMF area codes that econ_get_imf_indicator takes: ISO3 country codes such as USA or DEU, IMF regions, and analytical groups such as ADVEC (advanced economies), OEMDC (emerging market and developing economies) or WEOWORLD (world). Do not use for indicator values (econ_get_imf_indicator) or for World Bank or Eurostat codes (econ_list_countries, econ_get_eurostat_dimensions). Parameters: type (optional "country", "region" or "group"), query (optional words found in the name or the code, e.g. "advanced"), limit (1 to 300, default 50), offset (default 0), response_format ("concise" or "detailed" to add cache information).

Cost control
Each Standby run has a spending limit (maxTotalChargeUsd). When a call uses the last of it, the result is still returned, and later calls in that run answer CHARGE_LIMIT_REACHED until the limit is raised.
Why use Economic Indicators & Exchange Rates MCP Server?
Each institution has its own API, its own codes and its own citation rules. The World Bank uses indicator codes, Eurostat uses dataset dimensions, the ECB and the OECD use their own series keys, and the IMF has its own area codes. This server puts them behind tools that take plain country codes and dates.
- One search across five providers.
econ_search_indicatorsmatches "youth unemployment" or "HICP inflation" to a series id and tells the assistant which tool reads it. - A country snapshot in one call.
econ_get_country_profilereturns region, income level, capital and eight headline indicators (GDP, growth, GDP per capita, inflation, unemployment, population, government debt, current account balance) with the year of each value. - Rankings of every economy on one World Bank indicator, on each country's latest value or on a fixed year. Regional and income aggregates stay out unless you ask for them.
- History and outlook side by side.
econ_get_imf_indicatorreads World Economic Outlook figures from 1980 together with the IMF's projections about five years ahead, and every row says whether it is a projection. - Euro reference rates back to 4 January 1999, with their daily, monthly or annual history and conversions between two currencies through the euro. Every converted amount is flagged as computed by this server.
- Attribution included. Each answer carries the source line its provider asks for, ready to quote.
- 🔌 Model Context Protocol over Streamable HTTP at
https://mrbridge--global-economy-mcp.apify.actor/mcp, for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and the OpenAI and Anthropic APIs. No provider account or API key is needed. - ⚡ Apify Standby mode. The first call after a quiet spell starts the server, which takes a few seconds. It then stays warm until it has been idle for 5 minutes.
Pricing (Pay-per-Event)
| Event | Charged when | Price |
|---|---|---|
apify-actor-start | run start (platform default) | see the Store page |
tool-read (primary event) | each successful read tool call | see the Store page |
tool-action | each successful call of a detailed or computed tool | see the Store page |
Never charged: initialize, tools/list, pings, readiness probes, and any call that ends in an error (invalid input, not found, upstream failure, timeout, spending limit).
Platform usage comes on top of these events. This server runs in Apify Standby mode, and you also pay the platform usage of your own Standby run, billed to your Apify account like any other run: the memory set for the Standby run, for as long as the server is up, idle time included, until the run stops at its idle timeout. The Apify pay-per-event documentation says so: "For runs in Standby mode, users always pay the platform usage costs in addition to the event charges."
Limits, caveats and attribution

attributionblock: the provider, the source line its terms ask for, the terms URL and the notices below. Keep it when you reuse the figures. - World Bank. Only World Development Indicators are served, under CC BY 4.0. A series is refused when its World Bank catalogue entry says "Restricted use", names a non-commercial licence (the four Tracking SDG 7 series EG.CFT.ACCS.ZS, EG.CFT.ACCS.RU.ZS, EG.CFT.ACCS.UR.ZS and EG.EGY.PRIM.PP.KD) or any licence other than CC BY 4.0, or when it is on this server's list of known third-party series (such as some energy and freight series). Of the 20 energy series the World Bank takes from the IEA Energy Statistics Data Browser, 17 are served under CC BY 4.0 with the notice "Not endorsed by the IEA." Three are refused while the licence of their IEA data is uncertain: EG.ELC.LOSS.ZS, EG.USE.COMM.FO.ZS and EG.FEC.RNEW.ZS. The refusal names a related series when this server has one. The country list mixes economies with regional and income aggregates, and aggregates are left out of rankings unless asked for.
- Eurostat. Six datasets produced by Eurostat, for EU member states, the EU27_2020 and euro area aggregates, EFTA countries and official candidate countries only: Eurostat allows commercial reuse of its data for these countries only, so any other country is refused or left out, and the answer says so. Every Eurostat answer states that the data was reshaped by this server and that Eurostat bears no responsibility for this reuse. Aggregates that include the United Kingdom (EU28, EU15) are refused too. Selections over 100,000 cells are refused, and Eurostat may prepare some extractions in the background, in which case the call asks you to retry a minute later.
- ECB. The euro reference rates are published by the ECB for information purposes only, around 16:00 CET on TARGET business days, and the ECB strongly discourages using them for transactions. Rates are passed through unchanged. Conversions and cross rates are computed by this server from those rates and are marked
derived: true. A currency whose publication is suspended (the Russian rouble since March 2022) comes with its last rate date and a note. ECB statistics are available free of charge on the ECB website: https://data.ecb.europa.eu/ - OECD. The OECD allows 60 data downloads per hour for its whole API. This server fetches each series for all countries at once over a window of at most 20 years, caches it for a day and keeps well under that limit, but heavy use can still meet a temporary block (
UPSTREAM_RATE_LIMITED). OECD data is cited as "OECD (year), dataset, dataflow, https://data-explorer.oecd.org/ (accessed on date)". - IMF. The 15 World Economic Outlook indicators of the IMF DataMapper, for at most 20 areas and 30 years per call, one indicator at a time: the IMF does not allow bulk downloads, so this server never asks for every country at once and caches what it reads. Each row says whether it is an IMF projection. That flag is set by this server from the year of the World Economic Outlook edition, and the values themselves are passed on unchanged. The IMF updates the World Economic Outlook in April and October. Its network has refused automated clients before, in which case the IMF tools answer
UPSTREAM_BLOCKEDuntil it lets them through again. - Freshness. Exchange rates are cached for 5 minutes, statistics for one day, catalogues and country lists for 30 days. Eurostat and the OECD revise figures without keeping earlier versions, so a figure can change between two calls a day apart.
Data terms
By using this server you agree to use the data it returns in line with the terms of each source, and to pass the same obligations on to anyone you share the data with.
- World Bank: Terms of use for datasets and CC BY 4.0. Cite "The World Bank: World Development Indicators" and do not suggest World Bank endorsement.
- Eurostat: Copyright notice. Cite the dataset, state that the data was modified when you change it, and do not reuse data for other countries commercially.
- ECB: Statistics reuse policy and website disclaimer. Quote "Source: ECB statistics", label any figure you compute, and if you sell a product that includes ECB data, tell your buyers before they pay and at each access that it may be obtained free of charge from the ECB website.
- OECD: Terms and conditions. Keep the OECD citation, include the same citation requirement in any sub-licence, and do not use the OECD logo or suggest OECD endorsement.
- IMF: Copyright and Usage. Cite "Source: International Monetary Fund, World Economic Outlook (edition), link to the dataset", say so when you transform the data, do not suggest IMF endorsement, and do not use IMF data to train large language models without the IMF's explicit permission. IMF data is available free of charge from the IMF at https://www.imf.org/external/datamapper/. The IMF asks for its permission before any commercial reuse of its data. This server asked for it on 2026-10-06 and has no answer yet. The IMF tools will be withdrawn if the IMF objects.
The fee for this server pays for the service (hosting, caching, normalisation), not for a licence on the data.
Use cases
Country briefs. "Give me an economic snapshot of Brazil." econ_get_country_profile answers with the eight headline indicators, each with its latest year, plus region and income level.
Rankings for a slide or a report. "Which 20 economies had the highest GDP per capita in 2023?" econ_compare_countries ranks every economy on NY.GDP.PCAP.CD for that year and leaves aggregates out.
EU inflation and labour market detail. "Show monthly HICP inflation for France, Germany and the EU over the last 12 months." The assistant reads the filter codes with econ_get_eurostat_dimensions, then calls econ_get_eurostat_series on prc_hicp_minr with FR, DE and EU27_2020. Unemployment, GDP, government debt and population work the same way.
Growth outlook. "What growth does the IMF project for advanced economies and for India up to 2030?" econ_get_imf_indicator reads NGDP_RPCH for ADVEC and IND, with each year marked as history or projection and the World Economic Outlook edition cited.
Amounts in another currency. "What were 2,500 Swiss francs worth in US dollars at the ECB reference rate of 25 September 2026?" econ_convert_currency returns the amount, the cross rate and the publication date it used. The answer is for information and reporting, not for settling a payment.
Monetary and cycle context. "What are the ECB key interest rates today, and when did they last change?" econ_get_ecb_key_rates gives the three rates and the date each took effect. Pair it with econ_get_oecd_indicator and the composite leading indicator for Germany to frame an economic commentary.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account with the World Bank, Eurostat, the ECB, the OECD or the IMF?
No. All five publish open data without a key. You only need an Apify account and its API token.
How much does it cost to query economic data?
Two things are billed to your Apify account. First, the tool calls: $0.01 per successful call to econ_compare_countries or econ_get_country_profile (actions) and $0.005 per successful call to any other tool (reads). These are the prices on the Apify Free plan, and the discounts of paid plans lower them. Errors, refused series, the spending-limit refusal and protocol traffic (initialize, tool lists, pings) are never charged. Second, the platform usage of your own Standby run, on top of the events: the memory set for the run (256 MB) for as long as the server is up, idle time included, until it stops 5 minutes after your last call, plus a small start event per new run. A 10-minute session of 30 calls, 4 of them actions, comes to $0.17 in tool calls on the Free plan plus 1 to 2 cents of platform usage. The fee pays for the service (hosting, caching, normalisation), not for the data: ECB statistics are available free of charge on the ECB website, https://data.ecb.europa.eu/, IMF data is available free of charge from the IMF, and the other three providers publish theirs openly too. Live prices for your Apify plan are on the Pricing tab, and maxTotalChargeUsd caps the event charges of one run.
Which countries are covered?
It depends on the provider. World Bank tools cover about 200 economies plus regional and income aggregates. IMF tools cover the countries, regions and groups of the World Economic Outlook, such as advanced economies or the world. Eurostat data is limited to EU member states, the EU and euro area aggregates, EFTA countries and official EU candidate countries, because Eurostat allows commercial reuse for those countries only. Any other country is left out and the answer says so. OECD series cover OECD members and aggregates such as the G7, the euro area and the EU.
Why was a World Bank series refused?
The server serves World Development Indicators under the CC BY 4.0 licence only. A series flagged "Restricted use", published under a non-commercial licence, or among three energy series whose licence is still unclear is refused without a charge, and the refusal names a related series when there is one.
How fresh is the data?
Exchange rates are cached for 5 minutes, statistics for one day, catalogues and country lists for 30 days. The ECB publishes its reference rates around 16:00 CET on TARGET business days, and the IMF updates the World Economic Outlook in April and October. Eurostat and the OECD revise figures without keeping earlier versions, so a number can change between two calls a day apart.
Can I use the exchange rates for payments or trading?
No. The ECB publishes its reference rates for information purposes only and strongly discourages using them for transactions. Converted amounts and cross rates are computed by this server and flagged as such. Nothing this server returns is investment or trading advice.
Can I reuse the figures in my own work?
Yes, within each provider's terms, which the "Data terms" section above lists with links. Keep the attribution line that comes with every answer, and pass the same obligations on to anyone you share the data with. IMF figures may not be used to train large language models without the IMF's permission.
Why is a call slow?
Two reasons. After 5 idle minutes the server stops, and the next call waits a few seconds while Apify starts a new run. A call that misses the cache depends on the provider's response time: in platform tests, two uncached calls took 27 and 31 seconds. Cached calls skip that wait.
Is this server affiliated with the World Bank, Eurostat, the ECB, the OECD or the IMF?
No. It is an independent server that reads their open data, cites them in every answer and uses none of their logos.
