FMCSA Carrier Safety Scraper

Search the public FMCSA SAFER Company Snapshot by USDOT number, MC/MX/FF docket number, or carrier name. The Actor returns normalized carrier registration, operating authority, fleet, inspection, crash, and safety-rating data.

What it extracts

  • USDOT number, legal name, DBA name, entity type, and status
  • MC/MX/FF docket numbers and operating authority status
  • Physical and mailing addresses, phone, fleet size, and driver count
  • MCS-150 filing date, mileage, and mileage year
  • Operation classifications, carrier operation types, and cargo categories
  • U.S. and Canadian inspection and out-of-service totals/rates
  • Fatal, injury, tow-away, and total crash counts
  • Current safety rating, review type, and source data date

Input

At least one search value is required. You can combine all three modes.

{
"usdotNumbers": ["1", "704723"],
"docketNumbers": ["MC120675"],
"carrierNames": ["Acme Truck Line"],
"maxResults": 100,
"maxConcurrency": 3,
"proxyConfiguration": {
"useApifyProxy": true,
"apifyProxyGroups": ["RESIDENTIAL"],
"apifyProxyCountry": "US"
}
}

Name searches may return multiple matching carriers. Duplicate USDOT records are written only once, and maxResults applies across the whole run.

Output

Each dataset item represents one carrier. Example (abbreviated):

{
"usdotNumber": "1",
"legalName": "FEDERAL MOTOR CARRIER SAFETY ADMINISTRATION",
"dbaName": "FMCSA TECHNOLOGY DIVISION",
"usdotStatus": "ACTIVE",
"operatingAuthorityStatus": "NOT AUTHORIZED",
"powerUnits": 91,
"drivers": 2,
"safetyRating": null,
"dataAsOfDate": "08/16/2026",
"sourceUrl": "https://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/query.asp?..."
}

The OUTPUT key-value-store record classifies the run as DATA, EMPTY, BLOCKED, REJECTED, or FAILED and contains delivery counts and warnings. Valid no-match searches do not create fake dataset records.

Pricing

Pay per event: one inexpensive Actor-start event plus $0.004 per unique carrier record written to the default dataset. Empty, blocked, and rejected queries incur no carrier-record event.

Reliability and limitations

FMCSA SAFER is the direct public source. Its Company Snapshot is an ad-hoc, one-carrier-at-a-time service. FMCSA may rate-limit or reject datacenter traffic, so the default input uses a sticky U.S. residential Apify Proxy route and conservative concurrency. The Actor never attempts to bypass authentication or CAPTCHAs.

Company Snapshot data is current-state data, not a historical archive. FMCSA states that snapshot company data is generally refreshed daily, while inspection and crash counts are refreshed weekly and cover the preceding 24 months. A safety rating alone should not be treated as a complete determination of carrier safety or operating authority.

Use the results for lawful due diligence and analysis. Verify critical decisions with the linked FMCSA source and the FMCSA Licensing & Insurance system.
