Output
One row per member: bioguideId, fullName, firstName, lastName,
birthday, gender, chamber, state, district, party, termStart,
termEnd, stateRank, website, termCount, wikipedia.
Notes
- A member's chamber comes from their current term, not their first.
Many senators previously served in the House, so reading
terms[0]reports the wrong chamber and a stale district. The last term is the current one. districtisnullfor senators by design — they represent a whole state, andstateRank(senior/junior) is the equivalent distinction.bioguideIdis the stable identifier that joins to voting records, bill sponsorships and most other congressional datasets.- This is a community-maintained dataset published as static JSON, updated as membership changes. It has no rate limit, but the whole file is fetched each run, so filtering happens locally.
