Marine Forecast Scraper
Pulls marine weather for sea coordinates from the free Open-Meteo Marine API: wave height, direction and period, wind waves, swell and sea surface temperature. No login, no proxy, no browser.
Input
| Field | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
locations | array | Required. "latitude, longitude" strings. Default: North Sea, off Lisbon, off Cape Town. |
forecastDays | integer | 0–7. 0 (default) returns current conditions only. |
variables | array | Marine variables to request. Default: wave height, direction, period, sea temperature. |
Output
One row per coordinate and time: time, latitude, longitude, kind
(current or hourly), plus one column per requested variable. Every
*_direction field gets a *_direction_compass companion (N, WSW, …).
Notes
- The coordinates come back snapped to the model grid, not echoed as sent —
54.5,6.0returns as54.541664,5.9583435. The returned values are used so each row says where it was actually sampled. - Inland coordinates are not an error. The API answers with nulls rather than failing, so a row of nulls means "not sea here" rather than "request broke".
forecastDays: 0keeps the daily run to one small request per location; the hourly block is only fetched when asked for.- Bearings are wrapped before conversion, so 360° and −90° both resolve correctly instead of running off the end of the compass table.
