Grants.gov Scraper: Federal Grant Opportunities with Funding Details

$1 per 1,000 opportunities. Platform usage included. No rental, no minimum.

Grants.gov Scraper collects US federal grant opportunities from Grants.gov. Each row has the title, agency, open and close dates, award ceiling and floor, and eligible applicants. Search by keyword, then filter by agency, status, funding category or how recently the opportunity was posted.

Open it in Apify Console

How much does Grants.gov Scraper cost?

OpportunitiesPrice
1,000$1.00
10,000$10.00
100,000$100.00

Plus $0.001 per run. One flat price, platform usage included, so there is no separate compute or proxy bill. A daily check of 40 new opportunities costs about $0.04 per run, or about $1.20 a month.

Why use it

  • Funding details, not only a list. With full details on, each row has the description, award ceiling and floor, total funding, number of awards, eligible applicants, funding type and the agency contact.
  • Forecasts as well as open grants. Forecasted, posted, closed and archived opportunities can all be searched.
  • Agency names or codes. Department of Energy, NSF or HHS-NIH11 all work, and a top level agency also covers its sub agencies.
  • Easy to monitor. Filter by posted within the last 3 to 56 days, or sort by closing soonest.
  • Official API, no key. Data comes straight from the Grants.gov API.

Limits

  • Details cost time. With includeDetails on, the actor reads one more page per opportunity, about 4 at a time. A test run of 50 opportunities with details took 4.5 seconds. Turn details off for a fast list of titles, agencies and dates.
  • Funding figures are optional. Agencies do not always state a ceiling, floor or total. In one test, 34 of 50 opportunities had them. When the agency wrote "none", the field is left out.
  • Agency names must exist for your statuses. Names are matched against the agencies that have opportunities in the statuses you chose. An unknown name stops the run with a message; use the code, for example HHS-NIH11.
  • Keywords. Several words in one line must all appear. Put a phrase in quotes. For alternatives, put each one on its own line; every line is searched on its own.
  • Overlap between keyword lines. An opportunity that matches two lines is returned once.
  • Text is plain. The description is converted from the HTML Grants.gov stores, so tables and formatting are lost.
  • Only federal grants posted on Grants.gov. State, local and private funders are not included.
  • Not advice. Check the full announcement before you apply. Dates and amounts can change.

FAQ

How much does it cost to scrape 10,000 grant opportunities? $10, plus $0.001 for each run.

Do I pay for compute or proxy on top? No. Platform usage is included in the $1 per 1,000 price. The Grants.gov API is read directly, so no proxy is used.

Where does the data come from? From the official Grants.gov API (search and opportunity detail), run by the US federal government. No key and no login are needed.

How do I get only grants that are open now? Set statuses to ["posted"]. Add sort as closing to see the ones closing soonest first.

How do I see grants announced ahead of time? Use forecasted. Forecast rows have the estimated posting, application, award and project start dates.

How do I monitor for new grants? Run it on a schedule with postedWithinDays set to 7, and use opportunityId to drop ones you already have.

Is it legal? The actor reads public data only, with no login. Federal grant announcements are published for anyone to read. How you use them is up to you: follow the site's terms and the law where you live.

Is this an official Grants.gov product? No. It is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Grants.gov, HHS or the US government.

Do I need an Apify account? Yes. Actors run from an Apify account, and a free account is enough to start: it includes $5 of platform usage every month. You can sign up here. This is a referral link and it costs you nothing.

Is there a limit on the free plan? Yes. A run started from a free plan account delivers the first 10 results, then ends with a message and a link to the plans. Any paid plan returns everything you ask for, up to your own limit. The price per result is the same on every plan.
