How to download Pinterest videos

1. Open Pinterest Video Downloader and go to the Input tab.

How it works

1. Each input is normalized to a pin ID. pin.it links are resolved by following Pinterest's redirect, and non-pin links (boards, profiles) are skipped.
2. The Actor loads the public pin page and reads the pin data Pinterest embeds in it. No login or cookies are used.
3. It collects every video and image variant for that pin only (related pins on the page are ignored) and picks the best one: MP4 for videos, the largest image for images.
4. If storage is on, it streams the best file into the run's key-value store and records the exact size.
5. Each successful pin is pushed to the dataset. Every input's status goes to the TARGET-OUTCOMES record.

If Pinterest blocks a request, the Actor retries automatically, switching to Apify Proxy when needed.

Video sizes vary with length. In our test sample of 30 Pinterest videos (5 seconds to 2 minutes 45 seconds long), the 720p MP4 files averaged about 9.4 MB.

Pins that fail, are skipped, are filtered by media type, or are duplicates are not charged. If you set a maximum cost per run, the Actor checks the budget before downloading each file and stops when the next pin and its file would not fit.

What video quality does Pinterest Video Downloader return? Pinterest serves one progressive MP4 for video pins, labeled 720p. Its resolution depends on the upload, for example 1080×1920 for vertical videos or 1280×720 for landscape ones. The video field gives the exact width and height. The HLS stream (.m3u8) is also listed in mediaVariants.

Can I download Pinterest videos without saving them to Apify storage? Yes. With storage off (the default), bestMediaUrl and video.url are direct pinimg.com links that you can open or download right away. Storage mode is useful when you want a copy that stays in your Apify account.

How long are saved files kept? Files are saved in the run's default key-value store and follow your Apify plan's data retention for unnamed storages. Download them, or send them on with an integration, if you need them longer.

Does it work with pin.it short links? Yes. pin.it links copied from the Pinterest share menu are resolved to the pin they point to. If a short link points to a profile or board instead of a pin, it is skipped and noted in TARGET-OUTCOMES.

Can I download a whole board or profile? Not with this Actor, which is built for known pins. Use Pinterest Search Scraper or Pinterest Profile Scraper to collect pins first, then pass their URLs here.

Why is a pin missing from my results? Open the TARGET-OUTCOMES record in the run's key-value store. It lists every input with a status: ok, skipped (not a pin URL), filtered (didn't match the media type), duplicate, no_media, or failed (removed, private, or unavailable pin).

Why is the title or description empty? title and description come only from what the pinner wrote. Many pins have neither, so the fields are null. The Actor doesn't fill them with Pinterest's auto-generated SEO text.

What happens with carousel pins and multi-page idea pins? Carousel pins return one entry per slide in images. If an idea pin has several video pages, the first is in video, the others are in additionalVideos, and all of them are in mediaVariants.

Can I schedule it or connect it to other tools? Yes. Use Apify schedules for recurring runs, and integrations or webhooks to send results to Google Drive, Slack, Make, Zapier, n8n, or your own API.

Is it legal to download videos from Pinterest?

This Actor only reads publicly available pin pages. It does not log in or access private boards, and it extracts no private user data beyond what Pinterest shows publicly on the pin. Pinterest videos and images are still protected by their creators' copyright, so download and reuse content only when you own it, have permission, or your use is otherwise allowed by law. Your use must also follow Pinterest's Terms of Service. If your results include personal data, you are responsible for handling it lawfully under regulations such as GDPR.
