APMEX Precious Metals and Bullion Scraper

Scrape APMEX product listings for gold, silver, platinum, and palladium bullion, up to a million items per run. Each product row includes its price, weight, purity, metal type, and availability. No login or API key. Export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML.

APMEX is one of the largest online precious metals retailers, but manually tracking their inventory of gold coins, silver bars, and platinum rounds across dozens of categories is slow and error-prone. This Actor reads public APMEX category and search pages directly, so you can collect structured product data without writing a single line of code. Filter by metal type or search for a specific product name, and get a clean dataset ready for analysis.

What it does

This Actor collects APMEX product listings from a category URL or a keyword search and returns each product as a flat row with its title, metal, weight, price, and availability.

  • ๐Ÿ” Keyword search: Type a product name like 'American Eagle' or '1 oz Gold Bar' to scrape only matching listings.
  • ๐Ÿท๏ธ Metal type filter: Select gold, silver, platinum, or palladium to scrape an entire metal category without pasting a URL.
  • ๐Ÿ”— Direct URL input: Paste any APMEX category or filtered search page URL to scrape exactly what you see in the browser.
  • ๐Ÿ“ฆ Bulk collection: Set a high maximum products count to pull thousands of listings in a single run.

Results export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML, or straight from the API.

Troubleshooting

Why am I getting no results?

Check that your Start URL points to a valid APMEX category or search page with visible products. If you used a keyword search, try a broader term. Also confirm that maxItems is set to at least 1.

The Actor is only returning a few products when I expected more.

APMEX pages load products dynamically as you scroll. The Actor scrolls the page to trigger loading, but very large categories may need a higher maxItems value. Also try a more specific category URL to reduce the total number of pages.

Some product fields are empty in the output.

Not every APMEX listing includes all data points. For example, some products may not show a premium over spot or volume pricing tiers. Empty fields mean the information was not present on the page.

The run fails with a timeout error.

Large runs with a high maxItems value can take time. Increase the Actor's timeout setting in the run options, or reduce maxItems to scrape fewer products per run.

My keyword search returns unrelated products.

The search uses APMEX's own site search. Try a more specific query, or browse APMEX manually, apply filters, and paste the resulting URL into the Start URL field for exact results.

FAQ

QuestionAnswer
Can I scrape all gold products from APMEX?Yes. Set the Metal Type filter to 'Gold' and a high maxItems value to collect every gold listing across the site.
How do I scrape only silver coins?Browse APMEX.com, apply the silver and coin filters, then paste that URL into the Start URL field. The Actor will scrape only the listings visible on that filtered page.
Does this Actor handle pagination?Yes. It follows pagination links automatically until it reaches your maxItems limit or the category runs out of products.
What data fields does the Actor return? Each row includes the product title, metal type, weight, purity, price, any volume pricing tiers, premium over spot, availability status, image URL, and the product page URL.
Can I search for a specific product by name?Yes. Use the Product name or keyword input to search for terms like '1 oz Gold Bar' or 'American Buffalo'. This overrides any URL or metal type filter.
Is an APMEX account or API key required? No. The Actor scrapes publicly visible product pages, so no login, account, or API key is needed.
How many products can I scrape in one run?You can set the maximum up to 1,000,000 products. The actual number collected depends on how many listings match your filters.
Can I export the data to Excel?Yes. After the run finishes, you can download your dataset as CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML from the Apify storage tab.
Does the Actor get live spot prices? The Actor collects the retail price and premium over spot as displayed on APMEX product pages. It does not fetch live spot prices from a separate feed.
Can I schedule this scraper to run daily?Yes. Use Apify's built-in scheduler to run the Actor automatically every day, hour, or any custom interval.
