Rome2Rio Scraper

Scrape multi-modal travel routes from Rome2Rio for any city pair, up to a million per run. Each route returns flight, train, bus, ferry, and driving options with durations, price ranges, and operator details. Export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML.

Planning a trip means comparing flights, trains, buses, and ferries across dozens of sites. Rome2Rio aggregates all of them, but manual lookups do not scale. This Actor reads the public route results for any origin-destination pair you give it and returns every option in one structured dataset.

Troubleshooting

Why am I getting no results?

Check that both origin and destination are spelled correctly and are recognised places. Try a well-known city pair like 'London' to 'Paris' first. If the location is ambiguous, add a country name.

The run times out before collecting all routes.

Lower the 'Maximum routes' value or increase the run timeout in the Actor's settings. Very large route counts may need a longer timeout.

Some route options are missing.

Rome2Rio sometimes loads additional results dynamically. The Actor captures what is present on page load. If a specific mode is missing, it may not be available for that city pair on Rome2Rio.

The price column is empty for some routes.

Rome2Rio does not always display a price range. When the site shows 'Unknown' or omits the fare, the Actor leaves that field blank.

I get an error about invalid input.

Both origin and destination are required fields. Make sure you filled them in and that they contain plain text, not special characters that might break the URL.

FAQ

QuestionAnswer
What transport modes does this scraper return? It returns every mode Rome2Rio shows for the route: flights, trains, buses, ferries, driving, and rideshare options when available.
Can I scrape multiple origin-destination pairs in one run?One run handles one pair. To scrape many pairs, use the Actor in a loop from the Apify API or pass an array of inputs through a task.
Does it include prices?Yes, it collects the price range Rome2Rio displays for each route option. These are indicative ranges, not live booking prices.
What format does the output come in?You can export the dataset as CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML from the Apify console or via the API.
Do I need a Rome2Rio account or API key?No. The Actor reads the public web pages, so no login or API key is required.
Can I filter by transport mode? The Actor collects all modes Rome2Rio returns. Filter by mode after the run in your dataset using the mode column.
How many routes can I scrape? You set the maximum with the 'Maximum routes' input field, up to 1,000,000 per run.
Does it return direct routes only or connections too?It returns whatever Rome2Rio displays for the query, which includes direct routes and connections requiring a transfer.
Can I use city names or do I need airport codes?City names work. You can also use specific addresses, train stations, or airport codes. Rome2Rio resolves them.
Is the scraper legal? The Actor reads publicly available route data. You are responsible for complying with Rome2Rio's terms of service in your use case.
