Search US bankruptcy docket metadata available in the CourtListener RECAP archive. Filter by chapter, bankruptcy court, filing date, keywords, or party name and export source-linked rows as JSON, CSV, or Excel.

RECAP contains PACER-derived records contributed to CourtListener. It is useful evidence, but it is not a complete or official PACER search.

What each paid row contains

• Case name and docket number
• Bankruptcy chapter
• Court name and CourtListener court ID
• Filing and reported termination dates
• Reported parties and attorneys, when available
• Reported trustee and assigned judge, when available
• PACER case ID, when available
• CourtListener docket URL
• Source retrieval timestamp
• Coverage and interpretation notices

Source fields can be missing, stale, corrected, or incomplete.

Even when chapter is empty, the actor requires a populated bankruptcy-chapter field from CourtListener. This prevents unrelated district or appellate dockets from entering broad searches. Open-ended searches are also bounded to today's date so erroneous future-dated archive rows do not displace current filings.

Common CourtListener IDs include nysb (Southern District of New York Bankruptcy), nyeb, cacb, casb, txsb, flsb, ilnb, and deb.

A name match is only a possible record match. Confirm the party, court, docket number, and underlying docket before relying on it.

• A docket match does not establish identity, debt validity, liability, discharge, case outcome, current case status, creditworthiness, or legal effect.
• Similar names require independent identity verification.
• Review the linked docket and PACER, and obtain qualified legal advice when a decision requires it.
