US Bankruptcy Records Scraper
Search US bankruptcy docket metadata available in the CourtListener RECAP archive. Filter by chapter, bankruptcy court, filing date, keywords, or party name and export source-linked rows as JSON, CSV, or Excel.
RECAP contains PACER-derived records contributed to CourtListener. It is useful evidence, but it is not a complete or official PACER search.
What each paid row contains
- Case name and docket number
- Bankruptcy chapter
- Court name and CourtListener court ID
- Filing and reported termination dates
- Reported parties and attorneys, when available
- Reported trustee and assigned judge, when available
- PACER case ID, when available
- CourtListener docket URL
- Source retrieval timestamp
- Coverage and interpretation notices
Source fields can be missing, stale, corrected, or incomplete.
Search options
| Field | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
query | General terms searched with the bankruptcy constraint | restaurant |
chapter | Chapter 7, 9, 11, 12, 13, or 15; clear it to include all bankruptcy chapters | 11 |
court | CourtListener bankruptcy court ID | nysb |
partyName | Reported party or debtor name | ABC Corporation |
dateFrom | Earliest filing date (YYYY-MM-DD) | 2026-01-01 |
dateTo | Latest filing date; omitted requests are bounded to today's UTC date | 2026-07-23 |
maxResults | Maximum paid filing rows | 10 |
Even when chapter is empty, the actor requires a populated bankruptcy-chapter field from CourtListener. This prevents unrelated district or appellate dockets from entering broad searches. Open-ended searches are also bounded to today's date so erroneous future-dated archive rows do not displace current filings.
Reliable first run: recent Chapter 11 filings
{"chapter": "11","maxResults": 10}
This returns at most 10 filing rows and costs at most $0.020 at the current $0.002/result price.
Example: one bankruptcy court
{"chapter": "11","court": "nysb","dateFrom": "2026-01-01","maxResults": 10}
Common CourtListener IDs include nysb (Southern District of New York Bankruptcy), nyeb, cacb, casb, txsb, flsb, ilnb, and deb.
Example: party-name research
{"partyName": "ABC Corporation","chapter": "","maxResults": 10}
A name match is only a possible record match. Confirm the party, court, docket number, and underlying docket before relying on it.
Use cases
- Chapter 11 filing research
- Creditor and legal-workflow triage
- Company due diligence and credit-risk review
- Jurisdiction-level filing monitoring
- Research on reported parties, trustees, attorneys, and judges
Evidence and interpretation limits
- RECAP coverage depends on records contributed to CourtListener and may omit PACER cases, documents, or later updates.
- CourtListener is not the issuing court, and this actor is not an official PACER search or certified court-record service.
- Filing, chapter, termination, party, attorney, trustee, and judge metadata can change or be incomplete.
- A docket match does not establish identity, debt validity, liability, discharge, case outcome, current case status, creditworthiness, or legal effect.
- Similar names require independent identity verification.
- Review the linked docket and PACER, and obtain qualified legal advice when a decision requires it.
Pricing
$0.002 per dataset row. The default returns no more than 10 rows (up to $0.020). Raise maxResults only when you need a larger export.
