Hello,
I just got an email about the new pricing for Twitter API - $3.5 per post. Honestly, this pricing seems off. Also, for the Twitter URL scraper, the rate you're considering is $2.5 per 1000 results.
Let's break it down and compare it with what Twitter API and Apify cost.
Using the Twitter API, extracting 10000 tweets costs about $100 a month. The plus side? You get access to loads of other endpoints that Apify just doesn't offer.
Now, doing the same thing with Apify's API? That's $35 for 10000 tweets.
For my tool, I use the Twitter URL scraper, making about 15000 requests monthly. At your new rate, that's gonna be $37.5.
So, if I tally it up, it's $72.5 with Apify vs. $100 with Twitter API. Considering Apify's added complexity and the fact it's missing like 90% of Twitter API's endpoints, these new prices don't really add up.
I've been planning and budgeting based on your previous rates, and this sudden hike throws all my estimates out of whack. Could you take another look at these changes? They seem a bit hasty and not super well thought out.
I've been a big fan and a regular user of Apify. I'd really like to keep using it, provided the rates stay reasonable. Otherwise, I might have to consider other options. Let me know if these rates are final, so I can plan my next steps.
