Scrape grocery products, prices, unit prices, EAN barcodes, and images from carrefour.it, Carrefour's Italian online grocery storefront. Search any keyword and export clean, structured grocery data.

Why use this actor?

Carrefour Italy carries a large grocery catalogue, and its prices, promotions, and EAN barcodes are valuable for price monitoring, competitor analysis, product matching, and market research. This actor turns a keyword search into a structured dataset you can drop straight into a spreadsheet, database, or price-comparison pipeline. Every product comes with its Carrefour SKU, which is EAN-formatted for most grocery items, making it easy to match against other retailers or your own catalogue.

This is the Italian sibling of our carrefour.fr and carrefour.be/es scrapers — same retailer, same output shape, a separate national storefront on a different platform version.

How to scrape Carrefour data

  1. Enter a search query in Italian (for example pasta, latte, caffe, or pane).
  2. Set Max Results to how many products you want.
  3. Run the actor. Results stream into the dataset and can be exported as JSON, CSV, Excel, or via the API.

Every result already carries the full product detail set — category breadcrumb, description, EAN, and rating/review count when the product has reviews — there is no separate "fetch details" step to enable.

How search works

Carrefour Italy's own search endpoint (/search) is explicitly disallowed in the site's robots.txt for all crawlers, so this actor never calls it. Instead it reads carrefour.it's own product sitemap (sitemap_0-product.xml, ~26,700 URLs, listed in robots.txt and not disallowed), matches your search query against each product's URL slug, and fetches the matching product pages directly (/p/{slug}/{ean}.html, also not disallowed). Every product page carries the same structured price/brand/category data the old search-results listing did, plus a clean JSON-LD block with description, EAN, and rating — so results are complete on the first pass, with one HTTP request per matched product (no separate detail-fetch step).

Both the sitemap and the product pages pass on a plain HTTP fetch with a residential IT proxy — no browser automation or anti-bot bypass service is needed for this route.

Because matching happens against the URL slug rather than a real search index, results are whatever the site itself named the product — a query like "pasta di semola" may match fewer products than "pasta" even though more exist, since not every slug spells out the full phrase.

Cost estimate

One HTTP request per matched product, plus a single sitemap fetch per run. Scraping 100 products is about 101 requests total — fast and cheap; there is no per-request anti-bot service fee since the route needs none.

Long runs and resume

For large maxResults runs, the actor persists its progress (seen product URLs and its position in the match list). If Apify migrates the run to another host, it resumes where it left off instead of restarting, so you never get duplicate rows or a half-finished catalogue.

Limitations

  • Prices and availability are the national Carrefour Italy catalogue values and may differ from a specific store or delivery zone.
  • Rating and review count are only present on products that actually have reviews — most items have none.
  • Matching is against the product URL slug, not a full-text search index — see "How search works" above.
  • Data is scraped from the public website and may change without notice.
  • Respect the website's terms of service and use responsibly.
