FMCSA New Carrier Leads: Fresh US Trucking-Authority Registrations

Get a list of trucking companies the moment they register new operating authority with FMCSA, with the contact info to actually call them. A brand-new carrier is the single best lead moment in trucking sales: they need insurance, factoring, an ELD, dispatch software and a dozen other things before their first load, and almost nobody has called them yet. This actor watches the official FMCSA carrier file and hands you legal name, address, phone and email for every new registration, as a one-off pull or a scheduled feed.

Built for freight factoring companies, trucking insurance agents, ELD and compliance vendors, dispatch and TMS software sellers, and load-board and fuel-card programs who sell to carriers in their first weeks on the road.

Why this actor

  • Be first to call: most carrier lists are pulled from the same stale export everyone else buys. This one is built off the same government file the moment a new DOT number lands in it, so you are calling brand-new carriers, not carriers everyone already pitched.
  • Real contact info, not just a name: legal name, DBA, physical address, phone and email when the carrier provided one, no separate lookup step.
  • Flat, per-lead pricing: no monthly subscription to justify before you have seen a single lead. You pay for the leads you actually get.
  • Scope it your way: by state, minimum or maximum fleet size (power units), for-hire status, or require an email address before it counts as a lead.
  • Monitor mode with a Slack-compatible webhook digest: schedule it daily and get pinged only with carriers you have not already seen.
  • One convenience link per lead: a ready-to-click FMCSA SAFER snapshot URL so you can pull the full public record in one click before you call.

Use cases

  • Freight factoring: a new carrier needs cash flow before their first invoice clears net-30. Call them before a competitor does.
  • Trucking insurance agents: every new authority needs cargo and liability coverage on day one. This is the moment they are shopping.
  • ELD and compliance vendors: new carriers have to get compliant fast. Reach them before they pick a vendor.
  • Dispatch, TMS and load-board sales: pitch your platform while a carrier is still building their tech stack, not after they have settled on someone else's.
  • Fuel cards and equipment financing: a brand-new fleet is buying trucks, fuel and gear right now.

A note on timing and what is (and is not) in the data

The FMCSA file itself typically lags a real registration by roughly 2-3 days, so "new" here means new to the file, not necessarily registered this morning. That is still fast: most carrier-list products you can buy are weeks or months behind. One honest limitation: freshly registered carriers do not yet have an MC (docket) number assigned in this file, so this actor does not include or promise one. You get the DOT number, contact info and address from day one; the MC number shows up later through FMCSA's own process, not something this actor can speed up.

Input

{
"sinceDays": 3,
"forHireOnly": true,
"requireEmail": false,
"maxResults": 100
}

Scope to specific states and fleet sizes (for a scheduled run):

{
"sinceDays": 1,
"states": ["TX", "OK", "LA"],
"forHireOnly": true,
"minPowerUnits": 1,
"maxPowerUnits": 10,
"monitorMode": true,
"webhookUrl": "https://hooks.slack.com/services/xxx/yyy/zzz"
}

sinceDays sets the look-back window against the carrier's registration date on file. states filters on the carrier's physical address (two-letter codes, e.g. TX, CA, FL); leave it empty for the whole country. forHireOnly keeps carriers authorized to haul freight for other companies (turn it off to also see private and exempt fleets). requireEmail drops any lead without an email on file. minPowerUnits/maxPowerUnits filter by fleet size (trucks and tractors). maxResults caps leads per run.

phonePhone number, when on file
emailEmail address, when on file (present on most fresh registrations, not all)

changeTypeMonitor mode: new; null on one-off runs
retrievedAtWhen this run fetched the lead

On a one-off run (monitorMode off) you get every match with changeType set to null. In monitor mode the first run seeds the baseline and reports everything as new; later runs return only carriers registered since.

Pricing

Pay per event, no subscription. Users on higher Apify plans get automatic discounts.

EventPriceWhen
Run started$0.005Flat, once per run
Lead found$0.005Per new/matched carrier returned with its data
Digest sent$0.03Monitor mode only, per Slack/webhook digest actually posted

A thousand leads costs $5. Compare that with a monthly carrier-list subscription: you pay it whether you use it or not, and you are billed the same in a slow month as a busy one. Here a quiet scheduled monitor that finds nothing new only pays the flat run fee, and a busy day costs exactly what it delivers.

FAQ

How fresh are these leads really? The government file itself typically lags a real registration by 2-3 days. That is still far ahead of most carrier-list products, which are pulled and resold on a much slower cycle.

Will I get the carrier's MC (docket) number? Not on freshly registered carriers. FMCSA assigns it after registration, and it is not present in the file yet at the point this actor is calling a lead "new." You get everything else (DOT number, address, phone, email) from day one.

Do all leads have an email address? Most fresh registrations do, but not every one. Turn on requireEmail if you only want leads you can email directly; leave it off if a phone number and address are enough.

How do I run this every day automatically? Turn on monitorMode, add a Slack webhook URL, and schedule the actor. The first run seeds a baseline; every run after that reports (and charges for) only carriers you have not seen before.

Can I target a specific region or fleet size? Yes. Use states for geography and minPowerUnits/maxPowerUnits to target owner-operators versus small fleets versus larger ones.

Does it work with AI agents? Yes. Like every Apify actor it is exposed via REST API and MCP, so Claude, Cursor and similar tools can call it directly, for instance to answer "any new for-hire carriers in Texas this week?"

Something missing?

If you need an extra field, another region, or a different output, open an issue on this Actor and describe it. I read every request and small additions usually ship within days. More monitors and data Actors are on my profile, including a US federal grants monitor and a WARN Act layoffs monitor.
