A correctness release. Several fields were returning wrong values rather than missing ones, which is harder to notice — if you have exports from version 1.0, the notes below tell you which columns to re-pull.
rating was not the star rating. It was being read from an internal
ranking score that sits in a narrow 3.7–3.9 band for every result regardless
of how a business is actually rated. Eight Seattle coffee shops came back
between 3.77 and 3.82 while their real ratings ranged from 4.4 to 5.0. Every
row produced by 1.0 carried a wrong rating, and the Minimum Star Rating
filter was thresholding that same meaningless number — a minimum of 4.0 could
reject businesses rated 4.8. Both are correct now.
Coordinates were wrong in the southern hemisphere. Latitude was not
sign-corrected, so Sydney came back as 395.62 instead of -33.87.
Australia, New Zealand, most of South America, southern Africa and parts of
Asia were all affected. Longitude was always correct.
openingHours was wrong when present and missing most of the time. It
was read from the wrong part of the response: a pharmacy open 08:30–18:30
returned "Monday 09:30–10:30". Hours are now read from the right place, cover
the full week including split shifts, and appear on essentially every
business that publishes them.
Reviews were returning nothing. Google stopped serving the endpoint this Actor used. Reviews now work again, with text, star rating, author, profile link, publish date and language, and all four sort orders. No one was ever charged for the missing reviews — the add-on bills per review delivered.
maxPhotosPerPlace above 20 had no effect. The cap was hardcoded at 20
even though the field accepts up to 100. The same businesses now return 40–60
photos where Google has them.
Google Maps URLs with coordinates searched for the wrong thing. A pasted
/@40.67,-73.94,13z URL was turned into the literal search text
"pizza in @40.6782,-73.9442". Coordinates now set the search area, so a
Brooklyn URL returns Brooklyn businesses.
categoryFilter did nothing for uncategorised places. Any business Google
returned without a category passed every filter. It is now applied properly.
Pagination skipped results when a request was trimmed to the remaining count, so large searches quietly returned fewer businesses than available.
minRating let unrated places through. The input schema said places
without reviews are excluded once a threshold is set above 0; now they are.
popularTimes has been removed. It was present on every row and
contained nothing usable — Google does not return popular-times data to this
Actor, and the field was an empty shell that looked like data.
priceLevel added in its place: $ to $$$$, or null where Google
shows no price band. Populated for restaurants, bars, hotels and retail; not
for professional services, where Google has no price level to show.
Default memory lowered from 4 GB to 2 GB. Measured peak usage across runs up to 120 businesses with photo extraction was 276 MB. Because the Actor Start event is charged per gigabyte of selected memory, this also halves that part of the cost. You can still raise it per run.
