What does SEC Form D Leads do?

SEC Form D Leads finds US companies that have just raised private capital, from the Form D notices they must file with the SEC within 15 days of their first sale. Each result has the company, amount raised and offering size, industry, number of investors, the roles listed (how many executive officers, directors and promoters), business address and phone, and a link to the filing on EDGAR. Run it daily with Only new results for a fresh feed of funded companies.

It collects data from US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) EDGAR, Form D notices of exempt offerings and returns clean, structured results you can download or pull through the Apify API.

Why use SEC Form D Leads?

  • B2B sales: freshly funded companies are hiring and buying: reach them in the weeks after they raise.
  • Recruiters and staffing: new capital usually means new roles, and the company's business phone and address are in every result.
  • Banks, accountants, lawyers and insurers: offer services to companies the moment they close a round.
  • Investors and analysts: track private fundraising by industry, state and size.
  • AI agents: structured funding data with a link to the official SEC filing.
  • Runs on the Apify platform: schedule runs, call it through the API, connect it to integrations, and get notified when a run fails.

How to use SEC Form D Leads

  1. Open the actor and select Try for free.
  2. Fill in Days back, Filed from. The prefilled example works as a first test.
  3. Set Maximum results to control how much data, and cost, a run produces.
  4. Select Start and wait for the run to finish.
  5. Download the results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or fetch them through the API.

How much does it cost to use SEC Form D Leads?

You pay per result: $8.00 per 1,000 results ($0.008 each), plus Apify's small start fee of $0.0001 per run. For example, 1,000 results cost about $8.00. You can set a maximum cost per run in the run options, and the actor stops cleanly when it is reached.

Subscribers to Apify's paid plans pay less per result: 10% off on Bronze, 20% off on Silver and 30% off on Gold and higher plans.

Get only new results

Turn on Only new results and schedule the actor (for example daily) to use it as a monitor: each run skips what earlier runs already returned, so you get a feed of new records and pay only for those. The first run returns everything that matches. The memory lives in your own Apify account; give runs the same Monitor name to share it when you change other inputs.

Use it from AI agents

AI agents can find and run SEC Form D Leads as a tool through Apify's MCP server (mcp.apify.com) or the Apify API, and get the same structured results, billed per result. Without code, Apify's Zapier, Make and n8n integrations can start it and send each new result to a sheet, CRM or chat.

onlyNewbooleanfalseMonitoring mode: skip results this monitor returned in earlier runs, so a scheduled run returns, and bills, only what is new. The first run returns everything that matches.

  • Keep Exclude investment funds on for operating companies; turn it off to track new venture and private equity funds.
  • Combine Industries (for example Technology) with States (for example CA, NY) for a focused territory.
  • Schedule the actor to keep a dataset fresh, and use the API or integrations to send new results where you need them.

FAQ, disclaimers, and support

Where does the data come from?

From US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) EDGAR, Form D notices of exempt offerings (www.sec.gov). Data is used under: SEC EDGAR filings are public records published by the US Government (17 U.S.C. 105) for free access; automated access is allowed within SEC's fair-access limit of 10 requests per second. See the source's terms: https://www.sec.gov/os/accessing-edgar-data

This actor only collects publicly available data from US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) EDGAR, Form D notices of exempt offerings and does not collect personal data about private individuals. Check that your use complies with the source's terms and the laws that apply to you. This actor is not affiliated with or endorsed by US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) EDGAR, Form D notices of exempt offerings.

How fresh is the data?

EDGAR publishes each business day's filing index in the evening US Eastern time, so a run returns filings up to the previous business day, often the same day.

Why do some companies show no amount raised?

Some issuers file before the first sale or state the offering as Indefinite. The amount fields then stay empty or 0; use Minimum amount raised to leave them out.

What about personal data?

The actor returns no personal data: no names, addresses or contact details of people. It counts the roles listed in the filing (executive officers, directors, promoters) and returns the company's business address and phone. Each result links to the public filing on EDGAR.

Is this data free to reuse?

Yes. SEC EDGAR filings are public records published by the US Government. The actor stays within the SEC's fair-access limit of 10 requests per second.
