Turn public web pages into a change feed your team can act on. Website Change Intelligence API watches pricing, product, legal, changelog, and documentation pages, then returns meaningful changes with severity and before/after evidence.

๐Ÿ”Ž What does Website Change Intelligence API do?

Give it public URLs and it creates a persistent baseline for each page. On later runs it detects changed text, added or removed prices, and classifies the result as PRICING, PRODUCT, LEGAL, DOCUMENTATION, or general CONTENT.

This is a monitoring API, not a bulk archive of raw HTML. It extracts readable public page content and returns compact evidence designed for alerts and downstream automation.

โœ… Why use this website change monitor?

  • Catch competitor price and packaging changes.
  • Watch terms, privacy policies, and regulatory pages.
  • Detect product launches, removed features, and documentation updates.
  • Schedule recurring checks directly on Apify.
  • Send results to webhooks, Slack, Make, Zapier, Google Sheets, or your data warehouse.
  • Download structured results through the Apify API.

Temporary source failures do not overwrite the last good baseline, so an outage cannot create a false page change.

๐Ÿ“Š What data can it extract?

โš™๏ธ How to monitor a website for changes

  1. Add one or more public page URLs.
  2. Give the watchlist a stable monitorName.
  3. Choose whether pricing, product, legal, documentation, or all changes matter.
  4. Run once to create the baseline.
  5. Create an Apify schedule and reuse the same input.
  6. Connect a webhook or integration to receive the change feed.

๐Ÿ’ต How much does website monitoring cost?

The Actor costs $1 per 1,000 output rows on the Free and Bronze tiers, with lower rates on larger plans. One returned page result is one billable result. Platform compute is included. Disable includeUnchanged when you only want billable rows for detected changes, but keep it enabled if your workflow needs a heartbeat on every check.

๐Ÿ“ฅ Input

See the Input tab for the full configuration. A simple competitor pricing monitor looks like this:

{
"monitorName": "competitor-pricing",
"urls": [
"https://apify.com/pricing",
"https://openai.com/api/pricing/"
],
"focus": "pricing",
"includeUnchanged": true
}

The same monitorName and normalized URL always resolve to the same baseline. Change the monitor name when you intentionally want a fresh baseline.

๐Ÿ“ค Output

You can download the dataset in JSON, HTML, CSV, or Excel.

{
"url": "https://example.com/pricing",
"pageTitle": "Pricing",
"status": "CHANGED",
"changeType": "PRICING",
"severity": "HIGH",
"changeScore": 4.72,
"priceChanges": [{"removed": ["$49/month"], "added": ["$59/month"]}],
"addedText": ["Professional plan starts at $59/month."],
"removedText": ["Professional plan starts at $49/month."]
}

๐Ÿงฉ Monitoring recipes

Competitor pricing intelligence

Use pricing and plan URLs, set focus to pricing, and schedule daily. High-severity results include detected price additions or removals.

Terms and privacy policy monitoring

Use terms, privacy, cookie, and acceptable-use URLs with focus set to legal. Route changed rows to your compliance review queue.

Product and documentation monitoring

Watch feature pages, changelogs, API docs, and migration guides. Run hourly or daily depending on how quickly your team needs the signal.

โš ๏ธ Limits and caveats

  • The Actor monitors server-rendered public HTML. Pages whose useful content appears only after browser-side JavaScript may return limited text.
  • A changed navigation template can affect many pages. The extractor removes common headers, navigation, footers, cookie notices, and scripts to reduce this noise.
  • Price detection is evidence, not accounting advice. Currency formatting and promotional copy vary.
  • Use a stable page URL. Redirects are followed, while URL fragments are ignored.
  • Respect website terms, robots policies, copyright, and applicable law. Only public content is read; no login or private user data is requested.

โ“ FAQ

Can I return only changed pages?

Yes. Disable includeUnchanged. The first successful run still returns an INITIALIZED baseline row.

Does it use an LLM?

No. Classification and evidence extraction are deterministic, which keeps runs fast, explainable, and inexpensive.

What happens when a page is temporarily down?

The run summary counts the failure and preserves the previous good baseline. Failed checks do not create billable dataset rows.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Support

Use the Issues tab and include the run URL, a redacted input, the monitored URL, and the change you expected. Use the API tab for programmatic runs, schedules, datasets, and webhooks.
