New Business Leads by State — 17 Official State Sources
Get brand-new business registrations — the freshest B2B leads that exist — from seventeen official US state government data sources in one normalized feed: NY, CO, OR, CT, PA, TX, DC, MS, WV, FL, IL, UT, NM, ID, IA, MT, OH. New businesses need insurance, banking, bookkeeping, websites, equipment, and services right now; this actor tells you who they are, where they are, and (where the state publishes it) how to reach them.
No API keys, no logins, no scraping of protected portals — every record comes
from an official state open-data endpoint and carries a sourceUrl and
retrievedAt timestamp so you can verify it yourself.

Input
{"states": ["NY", "CO", "OR", "CT", "PA", "TX", "DC", "MS", "WV", "FL"],"daysBack": 7,"maxResultsPerState": 100}
- states — any of
NY,CO,OR,CT,PA,TX,DC,MS,WV,FL,IL,UT,NM,ID,IA,MT,OH. Omit for all seventeen. - daysBack — look-back window in days (default 7). For a continuous feed,
schedule the actor daily with
daysBack1–3 (the same-day states: NY/CO/OR/CT/UT/ID/MT). PA needsdaysBack10+ and IL/NM/IA needdaysBack14+ because those sources publish on a lag (IL is a batch bulk file, NM/IA carry a ~2-week processing delay). OH refreshes MONTHLY — its bulk reports are regenerated on the 2nd Saturday of each month, so usedaysBack45+ (60 recommended) or run OH on its own monthly schedule. Run the lagged states on their own less-frequent schedule to avoid duplicate leads. - sinceDate — optional fixed start date (
YYYY-MM-DD); overridesdaysBack. - maxResultsPerState — cap per state (default 100, max 2,000).
Freshness, stated honestly (per state)
Every record carries its source's real cadence in sourceFreshness — we'd
rather tell you a source lags than let you find out from a stale lead.
| State | Source | Cadence |
|---|---|---|
| New York | NY DOS Active Corporations (data.ny.gov) | Updates daily |
| Colorado | CO SoS Business Entities (data.colorado.gov) | Updates daily; richest record (principal address + agent + full status) |
| Oregon | OR SoS Business Registry (data.oregon.gov) | Updates daily |
| Connecticut | CT Business Registry Master (data.ct.gov) | Updates daily — and uniquely publishes business email + NAICS |
| Pennsylvania | PA DoS Registered Businesses (data.pa.gov) | Publishes with ~1-week lag — treat PA as "recent", not same-day |
| Texas | TX Comptroller Active Franchise Taxpayers (data.texas.gov) | Refreshes weekly; scope = active for-profit franchise taxpayers, not the full SOS feed |
| District of Columbia | DC business registry via DCGIS (maps2.dcgis.dc.gov) | Updates daily; entity type + registered agent (no street address in feed) |
| Mississippi | MS SoS Corporate (corp.sos.ms.gov) | Updates daily; entity type + status (registered agent not in the feed) |
| West Virginia | WV SoS Business Organizations (apps.sos.wv.gov) | Date-range query; entity type + status (no street address in the feed) |
| Florida | FL DOS official SFTP daily bulk feed (sftp.floridados.gov) | Posts day+1; the largest state — full address + registered agent, all new entity types (LLC, corp, non-profit, foreign, LP) |
| Illinois | IL SoS Business Data Transparency Act bulk files (apps.ilsos.gov/data/bs) | Batch — free statutory masters carry per-entity incorporation dates; refresh runs every few weeks, so treat IL as "recent", not same-day, and use daysBack 14+ |
| Utah | UT CARES business search (registration-date filtered server-side) | Updates same-day — Utah's advanced search filters by registration date live |
| New Mexico | NM SoS Enterprise search (enterprise.sos.nm.gov) | Date-range query with a ~2-week processing lag — use daysBack 14+; random-draw of broad terms deduped by record number |
| Idaho | ID SoS SOSBiz records API (sosbiz.idaho.gov) | Updates same-day — freshest filings appear the next day; entity type + registered agent |
| Iowa | IA Data Hub active-entity dataset (idh-be.iowa.gov) | Date-range SQL; active-only with a ~2-week lag — use daysBack 14+; address + registered agent |
| Montana | MT SoS business search (Tyler portal) | Updates same-day — date-range query; entity type + registered agent (source occasionally challenges datacenter IPs and degrades to empty+warning, never a crash) |
| Ohio | OH SoS free "Online Business Reports" bulk CSVs (publicfiles.ohiosos.gov) | Monthly — regenerated the 2nd Saturday of each month covering the prior month's filings, so OH lags 1–6 weeks; use daysBack 45+ or a monthly schedule. All new entity types (domestic + foreign LLC / corp / nonprofit / professional / LP), with filer address + statutory agent (foreign entities carry their out-of-state principal address + state of formation), and county for corporations |
Other honest limitations: states publish different fields — email/NAICS are
CT-only, agent names are strongest in CO/OR, and NY's address is the
service-of-process address. OH does not publish a verified principal street
address for domestic entities, so OH's address is the filer/organizer address
(foreign entities carry their true out-of-state principal address instead). Where
a state doesn't publish a field, it is null rather than guessed.
Typical uses
- Daily lead feed: schedule with
daysBack: 2, pipe the dataset to Sheets, your CRM, or a Zapier/Make webhook. - Territory monitoring: pick your states, filter by
countyorzipdownstream. - Industry targeting: CT's
naicsCodelets you filter to e.g. restaurants or contractors at the source.
Companion actors
- Look up / verify any company (KYB) — the full registry record behind a lead, or any US company by name across official sources: Secretary of State Business Entity Search (KYB) (28 states, same normalized schema, official-data-only).
- Sanctions screening — KYC/AML-check a name against the official U.S. Treasury OFAC SDN list: OFAC Sanctions Screening.

Data sources
All data comes from official US state government open-data portals. This actor returns public record data as published by each state; it is provided "as is" for informational purposes. Respect applicable laws (e.g. CAN-SPAM / TCPA) when contacting any business.
FAQ
How do I get a list of newly registered businesses by state?
Run this actor with the states you want and a daysBack window. It returns every
new business registration in that window from each state's official source, as a
normalized lead feed you can pipe to a CRM, Google Sheet, or webhook.
Which states are covered?
Seventeen: NY, CO, OR, CT, PA, TX, DC, MS, WV, FL, IL, UT, NM, ID, IA, MT, and OH.
Omit the states field to pull all seventeen.
How fresh are the new-business leads?
Most states are same-day or day+1 (NY/CO/OR/CT/UT/ID/MT/DC/MS/FL). A few publish
on a lag — PA ~1 week, IL/NM/IA ~2 weeks (use daysBack 14+), and OH refreshes
monthly (use daysBack 45+ or a monthly schedule). Every lead carries its
source's real cadence in sourceFreshness.
What contact and firmographic data comes with each lead?
Business name, entity type, registration date, and — where the state publishes
it — mailing address, county, registered agent, business email, and NAICS code.
Fields a given state doesn't publish are returned as null, never guessed.
Is this legal, and where does the data come from?
Yes. Every record comes from an official state government open-data endpoint (no
logins, no protected portals, no CAPTCHA bypass) and carries a sourceUrl and
retrievedAt so you can verify it. It's public record data.
How much does it cost? Pay-per-event: a small per-run start fee plus a per-lead charge. You only pay for leads actually returned — no subscription, no minimum.
