Web Search Scraper is an Apify Actor that searches the web through the Ollama API and returns structured, machine-readable results — page titles, URLs, and content snippets — saved to the Apify dataset for easy export.

What Is Web Search Scraper?

Web Search Scraper (a web search & data extraction API) takes a search query, performs the search via the Ollama API, and writes each result to the Apify dataset with four normalized fields: query, title, url, and content. Results are stored in the default dataset where they can be previewed in a table view or exported as JSON, CSV, Excel, or XML. The Actor also writes run metadata (search execution info) to the key-value store.

Key Features

  • Web search with customizable result limits — return 1–5 results per run
  • Structured JSON output — query, title, URL, and content snippet for every result
  • Ollama-powered search — runs through the Ollama API (configure the OLLAMA_API_KEY secret)
  • Dataset integration — table view in Apify Console and one-click export to JSON, CSV, Excel, or XML
  • Run metadata — search execution info saved to the key-value store (RUN_INFO)
  • Pay-per-event pricing — $0.01 per returned search result
  • Lightweight footprint — 128 MB of memory per run

Use Cases

  • Quick research — pull top web results for any question without opening a browser
  • AI & LLM pipelines — feed titles, URLs, and snippets into RAG pipelines, agents, or summarization workflows
  • Content discovery — find sources and references on a topic for articles or newsletters
  • Monitoring & enrichment — enrich datasets with web sources for products, keywords, or brands

  • Maximum of 5 results per run

  • Results are snippets, not full page content

FAQ

How many results can I get per run?

Between 1 and 5, controlled by maxResults (default 1). For more coverage, run multiple queries.

What fields does each result contain?

query, title, url, and content — a normalized record for every search result.

Does the Actor need an API key?

The Actor runs through the Ollama API using the OLLAMA_API_KEY secret configured on the Actor; you don't need to supply your own key in the input.

How is billing calculated?

$0.01 per returned search result under the pay-per-event model.
