Feature Request: Add an option to ignore/skip pinned posts
Closed
Hello,
I would like to request a new feature for the "Instagram Scraper (Pay Per Result)" actor that would allow users to ignore the pinned posts on an Instagram profile page.
Current Behavior: Currently, when scraping a profile, the actor scrapes all posts, starting with the pinned posts at the top of the profile.
Requested Feature: I propose adding a new input option, for example, a boolean flag called ignorePinnedPosts.
If ignorePinnedPosts is set to true, the actor would skip the "Pinned" section of a profile and begin scraping only from the main, chronologically ordered grid of posts. If set to false (or left as default), the actor would maintain its current behavior and scrape all posts, including pinned ones. Use Case & Justification: Many users, including myself, use this actor to monitor profiles for their latest content. Pinned posts are often older and not relevant to this use case. Since this is a pay-per-result actor, we end up repeatedly paying for the same 1-3 pinned posts on every run.
Adding this feature would allow for more focused and cost-effective scraping, providing cleaner data for users who only need the most recent, non-pinned updates from a profile.
Thank you for considering this enhancement.

Hello,
Thanks a lot for this feature request, unfortunately since we are providing you the raw data, it is not possible for us to add that flag. There is no option on Instagram to skip those and in order to provide you the posts, we have to scrape them. You can always filter them on your end.
I hope this makes sense
Cheers

Hello,
Thank you for the quick and clear response. That makes perfect sense; I understand the technical limitation.
