Hi guys- I would like to do a continuous posts and comments scrape for known public pages. How would I accomplish this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi 😊

Can I ask for more details about your use case? Do you want to scrape all new comments on all posts, and all new posts on an e.g. daily basis, or do you want to scrape all new posts and the comments on those, or something else?

Hi 😊

I think I understand the usecase - I've created an internal issue to discuss if this is a usecase we want to support. Currently I don't think it is possible as you cannot sort comments by newest, because replies makes a comment act as new as the newest reply, but if also scraping replies it may be possible. We'll update you once we make a decision on the issue 😌

Hi 😊

If you want to scrape all new posts and the comments on those (as is the second option in my question), you can use the actors as is - running the apify/facebook-posts-scraper, and give each of the posts to apify/facebook-comments-scraper to get all comments on them.

We don't believe there is enough demand for continuous scrape of comments on posts for us to implement scraping all comments (and replies) newer than a certain date, and we are afraid that we won't be able to expose the functionality to normal users in a way which makes sense - if you aren't doing continuous scraping it's not very useful to get only the most recent reply in a thread 😅.

Thanks for sharing your interest, it is noted, and we will not be pursuing it for now. If you think your demand could support the feature, feel free to reach out to Apify Sales about a custom solution.

I'll close this issue now, but if there is anything else you think we can help with, feel free to reach out again 😊
