FAQ
Does it include interest over time (Explore charts)? No. Google blocks that with HTTP 429 for datacenter traffic, so this Actor covers Trending Now only.
Why is a country empty? Google does not offer Trending Now for every geo code; check the warning in the log.
Why are some news arrays empty?
News comes from an RSS feed that covers only the top ~10-20 trends per country.
Do I need an account or API key for the source? No. The Actor needs no login or source API key. You only need an Apify account to run it.
Is it legal to scrape this data? Only public Trending Now data is read, at about 1 request per second. Respect Google's terms of service. This is general information, not legal advice.
Limitations
- News articles come from Google's Trending Now RSS feed, which only covers the top ~10-20 trends per country; other trends have
news: [].publishedis null (Google does not provide it). - Interest-over-time (the Explore charts) is not included: Google blocks it with HTTP 429 for datacenter traffic.
- If Google changes the batchexecute format, the actor falls back to RSS-only (no categories, related queries or status) and logs a WARN.
- Public data only, about 1 request per second.
