👤 Instagram Profile Scraper - Followers, Bio & Links

🔎 What is the Instagram Profile Scraper?

It is an Apify Actor that asks Instagram for the same profile data its own website loads for a visitor who is not logged in. It opens no browser and loads no pages, so a lookup is one small request: in our test 40 usernames took 14 seconds.

Paste usernames, @handles or profile links in any mix. Accounts that do not exist, and accounts Instagram does not show to visitors, are listed in the status message and skipped; the run still succeeds and you do not pay for them. A private account returns its row with is_private: true.

What data does it extract?

• Identity: id, username, full_name, url, profile_pic_url, pronouns[]
• Reach: followers, following, is_verified
• About: biography, bio_links[] (the real destinations, not Instagram's redirect links)
• Status: is_private, has_reels

A run also writes a SUMMARY record with the usernames that were not found.

Usernames that return nothing cost nothing. Set Maximum cost per run in the run options and the Actor stops saving at that amount.

❓ FAQ

Do I need an Instagram account or cookies? No. The Actor never logs in.

Can I paste profile links? Yes. natgeo, @natgeo and https://www.instagram.com/natgeo/ all work. Entries that are not usernames are skipped and named in the log.

How fast is it? About three profiles per second. 1,000 usernames take around six minutes.

Why is an account reported as not found although it exists? Instagram hides some accounts from visitors who are not logged in; justinbieber was one of them on the day we tested. The Actor asks a second time from another address before it reports a username.

Does it return the number of posts? No. Instagram shows visitors only a rounded figure ("32K posts"), so the field is left out instead of filled with a guess.

Does it return email addresses or phone numbers? No. Instagram does not show them to visitors. The links in the bio often lead to a site that does; the Website Contact Extractor reads those.

Is it legal to scrape Instagram profiles? The Actor reads only what Instagram shows publicly to any visitor and does not log in. Profiles are personal data, so GDPR, CCPA and similar rules apply to how you store and use them, and Meta's terms apply to you as well. If in doubt, ask a lawyer.
