Finds your competitor brands on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube and reports their top posts, hooks and 5 content ideas.
Who it's for
Marketing leads and agency strategists preparing a monthly content plan who want to know who their competitors are on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, and what is working for them.
What you get
Your competitors, found for you. Give your own brand (your Instagram works best) and one to three phrases for what you sell. The Actor collects candidates from the platforms themselves: the profiles Instagram lists as related to yours, and profile searches on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. It merges the accounts of one brand across platforms and drops your own accounts and small or private ones. It keeps only company and product brands: creators, media pages and shops are left out. Each competitor comes with why it was picked, how it was found, and its accounts with follower counts.
A competitor content report for up to three brands over the last 60 days (7 to 90 on request). Name them yourself, or let the report find them first. Brands you name are kept and the rest is found for you.
- Cross-platform comparison. Followers, posting cadence, median views and median engagement rate per account, counted the same way everywhere: likes plus comments per follower.
- What worked. The best posts of each brand with links and how much better they did than that account's typical post, plus the best format, opening-line types, recurring openers and hashtags.
- Five content ideas. Each gives a platform, format, hook line and outline, and cites the numbered posts it builds on. An idea that cites no real post is rejected before you see it.
Hooks come from the first line of the caption or title; spoken audio is not analysed.
Example
"Who are our competitors on TikTok and Instagram (we are a language-learning app), what has worked best for them in the last two months, and what should we post next?"
Limits
- Competitor search reads up to 12 Instagram, 10 TikTok and 15 YouTube search results (shared over your phrases) and up to 12 related Instagram profiles. Accounts below 2,000 followers are skipped. A competitor that is not found on a platform is looked up there by its name, and only an exact name or handle match is accepted.
- Brand accounts only, 1 to 3 brands per report. Post and video links are refused. Commenters and personal profiles are never read.
- Reads the newest 30 Instagram posts, 40 TikToks and 20 videos plus 10 Shorts per account; very active accounts are covered over a shorter span, and the report says so.
- A brand needs at least three posts in the window. Accounts that cannot be read are listed and not billed; a run with nothing to analyse is an error and is not charged.
- Nothing is stored after the run.
You pay per competitor search, per report, per brand analysed, and once more when a report finds the competitors itself (prices below). Failed calls and accounts that could not be read are free.
How to use
- Run it in Apify Console or through the API: choose what to do, fill in the fields for that tool and start. The result is one item in the run's dataset.
- From an AI assistant through Apify's MCP server (mcp.apify.com), which finds and runs this Actor with the same fields. What each choice does:
check_accounts: Validate the brand accounts for a competitor report without reading any posts or charging anything.find_competitors: Find the competitor brands of a business on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.competitor_report: Analyse what worked best for up to three competitor brand accounts on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube over the last 7-90 days (default 60).
