This Google Play reviews scraper downloads the reviews of any Android app: star rating, review text, author, date, thumbs up count, the app version the reviewer had, and the developer's reply with its date. Every row also carries the app's name, developer, average score, number of ratings, installs and category, so one export is enough for analysis. Give it a Play Store link, a package name or just a search term. No Google account, cookie or API key needed.

  • Paste any kind of app reference. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duolingo, com.duolingo or simply duolingo all work. A search term is replaced by the top result.
  • Thousands of reviews per app. The Actor keeps paging until it reaches your limit, the date you set, or the last review.
  • Filter on Google's side. One star value (for example only 1-star reviews), 1 to 3 stars or 4 to 5 stars are filtered by Google Play itself, so runs stay fast even when the reviews you want are rare. You only pay for reviews that pass your filters.
  • Any language and country. Set de and de for German reviews from the German store.

The companion Actor for iPhone apps is the App Store Reviews Scraper, with the same kind of output for Apple's App Store in any number of countries.

How to use it

  1. Add one or more apps: links, package names or search terms.
  2. Set Max reviews per app and pick a sort order (newest, most relevant or rating).
  3. Optional: set Min stars and Max stars, Only reviews newer than, Language and Country.
  4. Run it and export to JSON, CSV or Excel, or call it from the API, Make, Zapier, n8n or an AI agent through the Apify MCP server.

A run with 100 reviews of one app takes a few seconds. Google returns up to 150 reviews per request.

How much does it cost?

You pay per review saved. Each review costs $0.0003, plus $0.0005 once per run. The app details on every row are included at no extra cost. 1,000 reviews cost about $0.30, and Apify's free plan credit of $5 a month covers about 16,000 reviews.

Inputs that fail (a wrong package name, a removed app, a link that is not a Play Store link) cost nothing. They are listed with the reason in the SUMMARY record of the run's key-value store, next to how many reviews each app gave and why it stopped.

Use cases

  • Product feedback: pull every 1 and 2 star review since your last release and group the complaints.
  • Competitor research: compare what users praise and hate in the top apps of your category.
  • Support monitoring: run it daily with Only reviews newer than set to 2 days and see which reviews still have no developer reply.
  • Sentiment and AI datasets: feed review text with ratings into a classifier, a dashboard or an LLM summary.

FAQ

How many reviews can I get? As many as Google Play lists for the app in that language. Google only lists reviews with text, so appReviewsCount is much lower than appRatingsCount. Big apps have hundreds of thousands. In a test run on Apify, 3,000 one-star reviews of Instagram took about 30 seconds.

Why are some reviews older than my date filter, or the reply older than the review? date is when the review was posted or last edited. When a reviewer edits an old review, it moves up in the newest order and its date changes, while the developer's reply keeps its original date.

How do star filters work? A single star value, 1 to 3 stars, and 4 to 5 stars are filtered by Google. Other ranges (for example 2 to 4 stars) are filtered by the Actor, which reads more pages to find them. With a star filter or a date cut-off on a sort other than newest, the Actor stops after many pages in a row without a match, and SUMMARY says so.

Does language matter? Yes. Google Play mostly returns reviews written in the language you set, so en and de give different reviews for the same app.

Why are the newest reviews about a day old? Google Play takes a while to show new reviews on its public pages. In our tests the newest reviews of large apps were about a day old.

Do I need a proxy? No. The Actor reads the same public endpoint the Play Store website uses, spaces its requests and retries when Google answers "Too Many Requests". For very large runs over many apps you can turn on Apify Proxy.

Is this legal? It only reads reviews that are shown publicly on Google Play. You are responsible for how you use the data, especially reviewer names, under laws like GDPR.
