RemoteOK Jobs Scraper exports current public RemoteOK job listings to structured data for recruiting research, remote-job newsletters and hiring dashboards. Filter feeds by skill terms, keywords, company, location, posting date or disclosed salary. Get company names, roles, tags, salary fields and application links, with optional clean text and HTML descriptions. This is an independent scraper, not an official RemoteOK API.
Quick start
- Open the Actor input and choose a small result limit.
- Use the main feed or add a RemoteOK category URL. Clear the form's prefilled Python/React tags if you want an unfiltered feed.
- Start the run, then open the dataset to review or export the matching jobs.
For a small Python search, use:
{"tags": ["python"],"maxItems": 20}
Filters can legitimately return no matches. The current feed is not a complete historical archive.
Prefer a video guide? This short Apify walkthrough shows you how to set up and run an Actor. It uses a different Actor, but the setup steps are the same.
Ready-to-run examples
Choose an existing public example as a starting point. Review its input before running it.
- Remote Python Jobs on RemoteOK — Search the Python feed with skill terms.
- High-Salary Remote Developer Jobs — Find jobs with disclosed salaries above the configured threshold. Review the title to identify developer roles.
- Remote Job Newsletter Dataset — Collect recent jobs with descriptions for a newsletter workflow.
What you get
- Current job rows: One row per unique matching RemoteOK job across the selected feeds.
- Flexible filtering: Combine text, company, location, freshness and salary conditions.
- Useful context: Category, source-feed URL, normalized posting date, salary disclosure and company logo when supplied.
- Description options: Clean text for analysis and optional source HTML for display.
- Run overview:
RUN_SUMMARYandOUTPUTreport saved, duplicate and filtered rows plus source failures and partial results.
Who is it for?
- Recruiters: Review companies hiring for particular skills or regions.
- Job-board and newsletter editors: Collect current listings for curation.
- Market researchers: Compare visible salary ranges and hiring activity.
- Automation builders: Pass structured job rows into spreadsheets, databases or AI workflows.
Input settings
| Setting | JSON key | Use it for | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| RemoteOK feeds | startUrls | Main API or RemoteOK category pages. Empty uses the main feed. | [{"url":"https://remoteok.com/remote-python-jobs"}] |
| Tags or skills | tags | Text terms to match across title, company, tags, location and description. Form prefill: Python or React. | ["python", "react"] |
| Keywords | keywords | Extra free-text filters for title, company, tags, location, or description. | ["backend"] |
| Exclude keywords | excludeKeywords | Skip jobs matching any unwanted term. | ["senior"] |
| Company | company | Keep companies containing this text. | Acme |
| Location contains | location | Keep jobs whose location text contains the value. | USA |
| Posted since date | sinceDate | Keep jobs posted on or after a YYYY-MM-DD date. | 2026-07-01 |
| Posted within days | postedWithinDays | Relative freshness window for scheduled monitors. Use instead of sinceDate. | 7 |
| Minimum salary | minSalary | Keep jobs whose salary range reaches at least this annual USD amount. | 100000 |
| Maximum salary | maxSalary | Keep jobs whose salary range starts at or below this annual USD amount. Use 0 to disable. | 180000 |
| Salary only | salaryOnly | Keep only jobs with a disclosed salary bound. | true |
| Maximum jobs | maxItems | Cap saved job rows. API default 50, form prefill 20, maximum 1,000. | 25 |
| Include descriptions | includeDescription | Include RemoteOK HTML job descriptions. | false |
| Include explicit HTML | includeDescriptionHtml | Return both descriptionHtml and clean descriptionText. | false |
| Safe run deadline | maxRunSeconds | Preserve stored rows before the platform timeout. | 270 |
| Run tag | runTag | Copy a stable workflow label to every row. | weekly-python-feed |
| Proxy configuration | proxyConfiguration | Optional Apify Proxy routing. Direct is the default. | {"useApifyProxy":false} |
Terms within tags or keywords use any-match logic. When both lists are supplied, a job must match each list. Matching covers the public title, company, tags, location and description, not just exact skill tags.
Use either sinceDate or postedWithinDays, never both. Relative dates are useful for repeated runs. Salary filters exclude undisclosed salaries. Minimum and maximum conditions test overlap with the disclosed range rather than requiring the entire range to fit.
The connection control preserves explicit proxy settings. There is no automatic direct-to-proxy fallback.

The following is a synthetic shape-only excerpt, not a freshly collected listing:
{"id": "example-job","company": "Example Company","position": "Example role","tags": ["python"],"category": "python","location": "Worldwide","isWorldwide": true,"salaryMin": null,"salaryMax": null,"salaryCurrency": "USD","salaryDisclosed": false,"seniority": null,"sourceFeedUrl": "https://remoteok.com/api","runTag": null}
Description fields are omitted unless requested. Either description option includes descriptionText. includeDescription adds description and includeDescriptionHtml adds descriptionHtml. Missing source values can be null. seniority and isWorldwide are text-based hints, not verified employer classifications.
Download your results
Open your run's dataset, choose Export and select JSON, CSV or Excel. JSON keeps nested fields together. CSV and Excel are useful when you want to review the records in a spreadsheet.
See Apify's download and export guide for the available formats and field options.
Pricing
This Actor uses pay-per-event pricing. The start event is charged once when a valid run starts, including a run that later finds no matching jobs or encounters a source failure.
The item event is charged for each job row saved. Filtered and duplicate jobs are not saved as paid result rows. Run summaries are separate from job results. maxItems limits saved job rows, not the run-start charge.
See the live Pricing tab for current rates and discounts.
Tips for best results
- Start small. Review a few results before increasing
maxItems. - Keep filters broad initially. Combining location, date and salary criteria can remove most jobs.
- Use relative freshness for repeat runs.
postedWithinDaysmoves with the run date, unlike a fixedsinceDate. - Request descriptions when needed. Either description option provides clean text. Explicit HTML is useful for downstream display.
- Deduplicate between runs yourself. The Actor removes duplicates within one run, not across your saved datasets.
Limits and caveats
- Only public RemoteOK feeds and supported category URLs are accepted. Individual job URLs, private employer dashboards and applicant data are not inputs.
- Feeds contain currently available listings, not guaranteed historical backfills or every job on the site. Source order is preserved across round-robin feeds. There is no sort control.
- Missing salary, logo, location and description values are normal. USD is the output currency label, not a currency-conversion service.
- A completed filtered search with no matching jobs succeeds with
EMPTY_FILTERED. Source failures and unexpected feed shapes can still fail the run. Available records are preserved when another feed fails. - A schedule collects another snapshot. It does not automatically detect new jobs, compare salaries, send alerts or remove expired records from your own system.
- RemoteOK can change its feeds or restrict access. This update does not change extraction or connection behavior.
Automation and integrations
Save your settings for next time
Once you have an input that works for you, save it as an Apify task. This keeps your settings together so you can use them again without filling in the form from scratch.
Run on a schedule
Need fresh results regularly? You can schedule the Actor or a saved task to run at a time that suits you.
Each scheduled run collects the data again. If you want to compare results or highlight changes, add that step in your own workflow.
Send results to your other tools
Use n8n, Make or Zapier to connect this scraper to the rest of your workflow. For example, you could pass its results to an AI assistant or add records to a spreadsheet. Follow the Apify integration guides for your chosen tool.
For a custom connection, an Apify webhook can notify your app when a run finishes or fails. Your app can then fetch the results or handle the failure.
API usage
Want to collect this data from your own app or automation? The examples below send input to the scraper and show how to collect its results.
The Node.js and Python examples wait for the run to finish before reading its results. The cURL example starts the run and returns its details. Wait for that run to finish, then use its defaultDatasetId to fetch the results.
For setup instructions, see Apify's JavaScript client guide, Python client guide and Actor runs API reference.
cURL
curl -X POST 'https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/fetch_cat~remoteok-jobs-scraper/runs' \-H "Authorization: Bearer $APIFY_TOKEN" \-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \-d '{"tags":["python"],"maxItems":20}'
After the run finishes, retrieve its dataset with GET https://api.apify.com/v2/datasets/DATASET_ID/items, using your returned dataset ID and the same secure authorization header.
Node.js
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';const client = new ApifyClient({ token: process.env.APIFY_TOKEN });const run = await client.actor('fetch_cat/remoteok-jobs-scraper').call({tags: ['python'],maxItems: 20});const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();console.log(items);
Python
from apify_client import ApifyClientimport osclient = ApifyClient(os.environ['APIFY_TOKEN'])run = client.actor('fetch_cat/remoteok-jobs-scraper').call(run_input={'tags': ['python'],'maxItems': 20,})items = client.dataset(run['defaultDatasetId']).list_items().itemsprint(items)
MCP and AI agents
You can ask your AI assistant to collect data with RemoteOK Jobs Scraper and help you work with the results. The scraper returns the data, and your assistant can then summarize it, compare records or prepare notes.
Connect your assistant through the Apify MCP server. MCP gives your assistant a way to find this scraper, run it and read the results. Follow the official setup and sign-in guide for your app.
Easier setup with an Apify plugin
If you use a supported coding assistant, the official Apify plugin can set up the connection for you. It connects your assistant to Apify and includes instructions for common tasks. Follow the guide for your particular app.
Use Apify AI in Console
Prefer to keep everything in Apify? Open Apify AI in Console and ask it to find Fetch Cat's RemoteOK Jobs Scraper. You can describe the data you want and ask questions about the results.
Apify AI is currently in beta. It asks for confirmation before starting an Actor, and normal run charges apply.
Choose your assistant
- Claude and Claude Code (Anthropic): Apify setup guide.
- ChatGPT and Codex (OpenAI): Apify setup guides.
- Grok Bot (xAI): Apify plugin guide.
- Gemini CLI (Google): MCP server setup guide. Use the server URL below with the HTTP configuration supported by Gemini CLI.
Connect just this scraper
To keep your setup focused on this scraper, add this server configuration to a compatible MCP client:
{"mcpServers": {"apify": {"url": "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=fetch_cat/remoteok-jobs-scraper"}}}
Sign in to Apify when your client asks. If your client uses a Bearer token instead, follow its setup guide and keep the token in its secure configuration. Configuration formats vary by app, so use the linked guide if your client needs a different format.
Use Apify's general server
Already connected to the general Apify MCP server at https://mcp.apify.com? You can use it to find this scraper without adding another server. Ask your assistant to use RemoteOK Jobs Scraper by Fetch Cat, or give it the identifier fetch_cat/remoteok-jobs-scraper.
Your assistant can check the available settings and retrieve the results from the returned run. If the run is still working, it should follow that run rather than start it again. Both connection options use Apify's hosted service.
Example requests
- “Get up to 20 Python jobs from RemoteOK and organize the company names and application links in a table.”
- “Collect recent RemoteOK jobs with descriptions, then draft a short newsletter from the returned listings.”
- “Find RemoteOK jobs with disclosed salaries, then compare the available salary ranges in a spreadsheet.”
Normal Apify charges apply. Check the live Pricing tab before asking your assistant to run a larger batch.
Pay with x402
If your AI agent has a funded wallet, it can pay for Apify usage through x402. This experimental option lets an agent use Apify without a conventional account.
Apify AGI provides a prepaid API token with a spending cap after payment. Your agent can use that token to run this scraper through the Apify API or an authenticated MCP connection.
Some MCP setups also support paying for each request directly. That is a different payment option, so check the official guide for its availability.
Follow the official guide for wallet setup, supported payment options and current terms. Apify handles the payments. Keep wallet keys and payment tokens in your agent's secure configuration.
Other ways for agents to pay
Apify also supports MPP for prepaid access through AGI and Skyfire for eligible Actors. If your agent already uses one of these, see the agentic payment guide to choose the right setup.
FAQ
Can I use this as a RemoteOK API?
Yes. Run the Actor through Apify's API and retrieve its dataset. It is an independent service, not RemoteOK's official API.
Can I export RemoteOK jobs to CSV or Excel?
Yes. Open the resulting dataset and choose an export format. JSON is useful when you want to retain tag arrays and optional fields.
Why are salary fields empty?
Many listings do not disclose salary. Salary-only and salary-range filters exclude those jobs. Other filters can also reduce the result count.
Can I build recurring remote-job alerts?
You can save input and schedule repeat collection. Add comparison and notification steps in your own workflow. Use a relative date window when you want it to advance automatically.
What if there are no matches or I need other job boards?
Broaden your filters or use the main feed. For other sources, consider the related job-board Actors below. Results and available fields vary by source.
