TikTok Video Scraper exports public TikTok video metadata from full video URLs. Collect captions, creator details, hashtags, music, covers and available engagement counts for reporting, content research and spreadsheet enrichment.
Field coverage varies. Basic results can contain a caption and creator details without engagement counts. Unavailable lookups do not create dataset rows.
Quick start
- Open the Actor and paste full public TikTok video URLs.
- Start with one URL and set
maxItemsto1. - Run the Actor, open the dataset and inspect field coverage before increasing your batch.
{"videoUrls": ["https://www.tiktok.com/@scout2015/video/6718335390845095173"],"maxItems": 1}
This is a public input recipe, not a guarantee that the example video remains available.
Prefer a video guide? This short Apify walkthrough shows you how to set up and run an Actor. It uses a different Actor, but the setup steps are the same.
Ready-to-run examples
Choose an example to start with a small, preconfigured input. Each uses the same video lookup capability with a different reporting focus.
- Extract TikTok video metadata — Start with one public video and inspect the returned metadata.
- Export TikTok video engagement stats — Review available public counts for a video. Counts can be missing.
- Export TikTok captions and hashtags — Collect available caption and hashtag fields for content research.
What you get
- Video metadata: IDs, canonical URLs, captions, creator fields and cover URLs when available.
- Public engagement: Likes, comments, shares, plays and saves when TikTok exposes them.
- Content context: Available publication times, durations, music and hashtags.
- Coverage indicators:
dataCompletenessdistinguishes fuller metadata from basic results. Missing fields remainnull. - Batch summary:
RUN_SUMMARYrecords saved and failed lookups. A deadline-limited batch may also savePENDING_URLS.
Who is it for?
- Campaign teams reviewing engagement for a known list of posts.
- Content researchers comparing captions, hashtags and music.
- Analysts enriching an existing video URL list for spreadsheets or dashboards.
- Developers collecting public metadata through an API rather than copying it manually.
Input settings
| Setting | JSON key | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Video URLs | videoUrls | Required list of full public TikTok video URLs. Duplicate normalized URLs are processed once. |
| Maximum videos | maxItems | Process at most 1–1,000 URLs. The form defaults to 10. |
| Proxy configuration | proxyConfiguration | Optional explicit proxy settings. Direct access is the default. See field help for supported settings. |
Use full HTTPS TikTok URLs containing the video ID. Bare IDs and shortened share links are not supported. When calling the API without maxItems, the runtime uses the supplied URL count, subject to the 1,000-video limit. The limit caps processed URLs, not guaranteed saved results.
Output data
Each usable lookup creates one dataset row. Basic results can omit counts, music, duration and publication time. isAvailable is true for saved rows, not an availability test for every submitted URL.
The following is a synthetic shape-only example, not an observed extraction:
{"videoUrl": "https://www.tiktok.com/@example/video/6718335390845095173","videoId": "6718335390845095173","authorUsername": "example","authorDisplayName": "Example creator","description": "Example caption #example","hashtags": ["example"],"playCount": null,"canonicalUrl": "https://www.tiktok.com/@example/video/6718335390845095173","isAvailable": true,"dataCompleteness": "oembed","fetchedAt": "2026-10-26T00:00:00.000Z"}
| Fields | Meaning |
|---|---|
videoUrl, videoId, canonicalUrl | Submitted normalized URL, video identifier and canonical link. |
authorUsername, authorDisplayName, authorId | Available public creator information. |
description, hashtags | Caption text and hashtag names. |
createTime, durationSeconds | Available ISO publication time and duration. |
musicTitle, musicAuthor | Available music information. |
diggCount, commentCount, shareCount, playCount, collectCount | Available public engagement counts. Missing values are not zero. |
coverUrl | Available cover image link. |
dataCompleteness | full or oembed. Full does not guarantee every optional field is present. |
isAvailable, fetchedAt | Saved metadata availability and extraction timestamp. |
Download your results
Open your run's dataset, choose Export and select JSON, CSV or Excel. JSON keeps nested fields together. CSV and Excel are useful when you want to review the records in a spreadsheet.
See Apify's download and export guide for the available formats and field options.
Pricing
This Actor uses pay-per-event pricing. The start event is charged once after video URL and limit validation.
The item event is charged for each saved video result, including basic metadata results. Failed lookups do not create paid status rows. A run can incur its start charge even when no video result is saved.
See the live Pricing tab for current rates and discounts.
Tips for best results
- Start with one video. Check field coverage before running your complete list.
- Use full links. Copy the canonical public video URL rather than a shortened share link.
- Inspect missing values. Basic metadata may have no engagement counts. Do not treat null counts as zero.
- Keep batches bounded. Set
maxItemsfor the number of URLs you actually need. - Compare snapshots yourself. Changes over time require your workflow to retain and compare datasets.
Limits and caveats
- Public metadata only. No login, private video access, full comment text or video-file downloads.
- Access restrictions, removed content and regional availability can prevent extraction. A failed lookup alone does not establish whether a video is private or deleted.
- Isolated lookup failures are skipped when useful results exist. The current implementation fails the run if no usable video metadata is saved. Inspect
RUN_SUMMARYfor lookup reasons. - Counts can differ from the app and can be absent.
fullindicates the richer result shape, not guaranteed completeness. - The Actor processes URLs in input order. It does not search TikTok, sort by popularity or discover a creator's complete posting history.
- TikTok is not affiliated with this Actor.
Automation and integrations
Save your settings for next time
Once you have an input that works for you, save it as an Apify task. This keeps your settings together so you can use them again without filling in the form from scratch.
Run on a schedule
Need fresh results regularly? You can schedule the Actor or a saved task to run at a time that suits you.
Each scheduled run collects the data again. If you want to compare results or highlight changes, add that step in your own workflow.
Send results to your other tools
Use n8n, Make or Zapier to connect this scraper to the rest of your workflow. For example, you could pass its results to an AI assistant or add records to a spreadsheet. Follow the Apify integration guides for your chosen tool.
For a custom connection, an Apify webhook can notify your app when a run finishes or fails. Your app can then fetch the results or handle the failure.
API usage
Want to collect this data from your own app or automation? The examples below send input to the scraper and show how to collect its results.
The Node.js and Python examples wait for the run to finish before reading its results. The cURL example starts the run and returns its details. Wait for that run to finish, then use its defaultDatasetId to fetch the results.
For setup instructions, see Apify's JavaScript client guide, Python client guide and Actor runs API reference.
cURL
curl -X POST 'https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/fetch_cat~tiktok-video-scraper/runs' \-H "Authorization: Bearer $APIFY_TOKEN" \-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \-d '{"videoUrls":["https://www.tiktok.com/@scout2015/video/6718335390845095173"],"maxItems":1}'
Check the returned run using the run API, then retrieve its defaultDatasetId using the dataset items API.
Node.js
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';const client = new ApifyClient({ token: process.env.APIFY_TOKEN });const run = await client.actor('fetch_cat/tiktok-video-scraper').call({videoUrls: ['https://www.tiktok.com/@scout2015/video/6718335390845095173'],maxItems: 1});const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();console.log(items);
Python
import osfrom apify_client import ApifyClientclient = ApifyClient(os.environ['APIFY_TOKEN'])run = client.actor('fetch_cat/tiktok-video-scraper').call(run_input={'videoUrls': ['https://www.tiktok.com/@scout2015/video/6718335390845095173'],'maxItems': 1,})items = client.dataset(run['defaultDatasetId']).list_items().itemsprint(items)
MCP and AI agents
You can ask your AI assistant to collect data with TikTok Video Scraper and help you work with the results. The scraper returns the data, and your assistant can then summarize it, compare records or prepare notes.
Connect your assistant through the Apify MCP server. MCP gives your assistant a way to find this scraper, run it and read the results. Follow the official setup and sign-in guide for your app.
Easier setup with an Apify plugin
If you use a supported coding assistant, the official Apify plugin can set up the connection for you. It connects your assistant to Apify and includes instructions for common tasks. Follow the guide for your particular app.
Use Apify AI in Console
Prefer to keep everything in Apify? Open Apify AI in Console and ask it to find Fetch Cat's TikTok Video Scraper. You can describe the data you want and ask questions about the results.
Apify AI is currently in beta. It asks for confirmation before starting an Actor, and normal run charges apply.
Choose your assistant
- Claude and Claude Code (Anthropic): Apify setup guide.
- ChatGPT and Codex (OpenAI): Apify setup guides.
- Grok Bot (xAI): Apify plugin guide.
- Gemini CLI (Google): MCP server setup guide. Use the server URL below with the HTTP configuration supported by Gemini CLI.
Connect just this scraper
To keep your setup focused on this scraper, add this server configuration to a compatible MCP client:
{"mcpServers": {"apify": {"url": "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=fetch_cat/tiktok-video-scraper"}}}
Sign in to Apify when your client asks. If your client uses a Bearer token instead, follow its setup guide and keep the token in its secure configuration. Configuration formats vary by app, so use the linked guide if your client needs a different format.
Use Apify's general server
Already connected to the general Apify MCP server at https://mcp.apify.com? You can use it to find this scraper without adding another server. Ask your assistant to use TikTok Video Scraper by Fetch Cat, or give it the identifier fetch_cat/tiktok-video-scraper.
Your assistant can check the available settings and retrieve the results from the returned run. If the run is still working, it should follow that run rather than start it again. Both connection options use Apify's hosted service.
Example requests
- “Get the public metadata for these three TikTok video links and summarize the available captions.”
- “Collect the available engagement counts for these campaign videos and make a comparison table. Mark missing counts as unknown.”
- “Retrieve captions and hashtags for this list of public videos, then group the returned content by theme.”
Normal Apify charges apply. Check the live Pricing tab before asking your assistant to run a larger batch.
Pay with x402
If your AI agent has a funded wallet, it can pay for Apify usage through x402. This experimental option lets an agent use Apify without a conventional account.
Apify AGI provides a prepaid API token with a spending cap after payment. Your agent can use that token to run this scraper through the Apify API or an authenticated MCP connection.
Some MCP setups also support paying for each request directly. That is a different payment option, so check the official guide for its availability.
Follow the official guide for wallet setup, supported payment options and current terms. Apify handles the payments. Keep wallet keys and payment tokens in your agent's secure configuration.
Other ways for agents to pay
Apify also supports MPP for prepaid access through AGI and Skyfire for eligible Actors. If your agent already uses one of these, see the agentic payment guide to choose the right setup.
FAQ
Can I scrape multiple TikTok videos at once?
Yes. Supply full video URLs and use maxItems to cap the number processed. Only usable lookups create rows.
Does it download videos or scrape comment text?
No. It returns public metadata and available engagement counts. It does not download video files or return full comments.
Why are engagement counts missing?
Basic metadata results can include a caption and creator without engagement statistics. Check dataCompleteness and treat missing values as unknown.
Is this a TikTok API alternative?
It provides an Apify API workflow for public video metadata from supplied URLs. It is not TikTok's official API and does not provide private or authenticated data.
Can I export to CSV or Excel and use AI agents?
Yes. Export the dataset or retrieve it through the API. Eligible assistants can use Apify's hosted MCP service as described above.
What if the run returns no results?
Check RUN_SUMMARY and confirm that your full public URLs are accessible. The current implementation fails when no usable metadata is saved. Do not assume that failed access proves a video was deleted.
