UCC Lien Search — New York, Florida, Colorado, Connecticut, Oregon

Search UCC financing statements and tax liens in five state registries from one input: by debtor name (bulk list or CSV / Google Sheet), by secured party (which filings did this lender record?), or by filing number. One row per filing with the filing number, type, filing and lapse dates, status, every debtor and secured party with addresses, collateral text where the state publishes it, the UCC-3 amendment / continuation / termination history and a link to the official source. A monitor mode keeps a seen-state and reports only filings that are new since the last run.

No login, no state account, no API key. Pay per record: $0.005 per run + the per-record price shown on this page. Nothing is charged when a search matches nothing.

Who uses it

  • Lenders, equipment lessors, factoring companies — pre-lending due diligence: who already holds a security interest in a prospect's assets, and is a blanket lien in place? Run the borrower list before you file your own UCC-1.
  • Credit and risk teams — portfolio monitoring: schedule the debtor list daily in monitor mode and get only new filings and status changes, pushed to Slack / your API through the webhook.
  • MCA, equipment-finance and SBA sales teams — lead generation: filings recorded by a competing lender (secured-party search in CO, CT, OR) show who just financed equipment or receivables.
  • KYB / onboarding and fraud teams — enrich a business record with its lien picture across the states it operates in, including IRS and state tax liens where the registry publishes them (NY, CO, CT).
  • Law firms, title and search companies — replace manual look-ups on five different portals with one JSON feed.
  • AI agents — the input is a plain schema and every row carries a sourceUrl; call it through the Apify MCP server to screen a debtor in one tool call.

Legacy single-value inputs of the New York version keep working: searchType, debtorName, filingNumber, searchLogic, lienStatus, fetchDetails.

An empty input {} runs a sample search for "APPLE" across NY, FL, CO and CT.

Examples

Pre-lending check of three borrowers in the states they operate in:

{
"debtorNames": ["ACME MANUFACTURING", "NORTHSTAR FREIGHT LLC", "RIVERBEND MEDICAL GROUP"],
"states": ["NY", "FL", "CT"],
"status": "active",
"includeDetails": true,
"maxItems": 300
}

Lender activity — every filing recorded by a competitor in the last 90 days (collateral text included in CO):

{
"securedPartyNames": ["DE LAGE LANDEN FINANCIAL SERVICES"],
"states": ["CO", "CT", "OR"],
"filingDateFrom": "2026-07-23",
"maxItems": 500
}

Bulk list from a Google Sheet, list-level rows only (no extended-record charge):

{
"listUrl": "https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1AbC.../edit#gid=0",
"states": ["NY", "FL", "CO", "CT"],
"includeDetails": false,
"maxItemsPerState": 25,
"maxItems": 2000
}

Filing-number lookup:

{ "filingNumbers": ["0005416633", "20222052293"], "states": ["CT", "CO"] }

Individual debtor:

{ "debtorNames": ["SMITH"], "firstName": "JOHN", "debtorType": "individual", "states": ["CO", "CT"], "maxItems": 20 }

Monitor mode

Set monitor: true, keep the same monitorId and schedule the run (daily is typical). The actor stores the filings it has seen in a key-value store named ucc-monitor-<hash of monitorId> and emits only:

  • changeType: "new_filing" — a filing against a watched debtor (or by a watched secured party) that was not in the seen-state and is dated inside lookbackDays;
  • changeType: "status_change" — a known filing whose status changed (NY Active → Inactive, FL Filed → Lapsed, CT Active → Released / Terminated, CO Active → Terminated / Lapsed).

Older unseen filings are recorded silently so they never surface later. firstRunMode: "baseline" records everything on the first run and emits nothing, so the next run reports only what is new. maxNewPerWatch caps the changes per name and state per run; the rest stay unseen and come out on the next run. With webhookUrl set, a JSON summary {monitorId, runAt, states, newFilings, statusChanges, pushed, filings[first 50]} is POSTed after each run (Slack, Zapier, Make, n8n, your API). The seen-state is capped at 50,000 filings per monitor.

{
"monitor": true,
"monitorId": "portfolio-a",
"debtorNames": ["VERIZON", "CARNIVAL CORPORATION"],

Fields a registry does not publish are null. The run's OUTPUT key-value record holds a summary: rows per state, queries skipped, extended records, errors.

Pricing

Pay per event, no subscription:

  • Actor start: $0.005 per run.
  • Lien record: the per-record price shown on this page, charged for each row written. 1,000 rows cost 1,000 × that price plus the start fee.
  • Extended record ($0.04 per filing, from the date the event appears on this page): charged in addition to the record price for each NY, FL or CO row delivered with includeDetails: true (all parties with addresses, collateral, filing history). CT and OR rows are published as complete flat records and never incur it. Set includeDetails: false for list-level rows at the record price only.
  • Apify proxy traffic for New York is billed by Apify at the chosen group's rate; the NY search page is about 100 KB per session.

A search that matches nothing writes nothing and costs only the start fee.

Good to know

  • Match rules differ by registry. Florida's index is alphabetical, so contains falls back to a prefix search there. Colorado's secured-party and debtor rows are stored per document; the actor merges all documents under one master document, so one Colorado row can list many debtor name variants and a long filingHistory.
  • New York needs a proxy. The DOS portal sits behind a Cloudflare challenge that blocks datacenter IPs and scores other exits per request. The actor opens a session on one exit, keeps its cookies and reuses it for every search, page and detail request; on a challenge it rotates to a new exit, alternating the UNBLOCKER and RESIDENTIAL groups (up to 16 attempts). If no exit passes, the NY query is logged as an error and the other states still deliver.
  • Florida lapsed filings come from the lapsed index with name, address and status only; the API has no detail record for them, so dates and parties are null and they are never counted as "new" in monitor mode.
  • Oregon is a one-month feed, not an archive: use it for monitoring recent activity.
  • The results are the public index as published by each state and are not a certified UCC search. For a certified search order a UCC-11 from the state filing office.
  • Individual-debtor searches return public-record filings against persons; use them in line with the state's terms and your legal basis.

Integrations

  • API: POST https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/fortuitous_pirate~ucc-lien-search-ny/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=... with the input JSON returns the rows directly (runs under 5 minutes); otherwise start a run and read its dataset as JSON, CSV or Excel.
  • Clients: apify-client for Python and JavaScript; client.actor("fortuitous_pirate/ucc-lien-search-ny").call(run_input={...}).
  • Schedules + webhooks: schedule a monitor-mode run daily; use the built-in webhookUrl or an Apify webhook on ACTOR.RUN.SUCCEEDED to push results to Slack, email, Google Sheets, Make, Zapier or n8n.
  • MCP: add the actor to your Apify MCP server and let an agent screen debtors across all five states in one call.
