What is Earnings Call Transcripts Scraper?
Earnings Call Transcripts Scraper collects conference call transcripts published by The Motley Fool (fool.com) and turns them into structured data. Filter by stock ticker and publication date, or paste transcript URLs directly.
- No API key, no login, no browser — it reads publicly accessible transcript pages.
- Alternative to paid transcript APIs — pay per transcript instead of a $50+/month subscription.
- Speaker-segmented — each turn becomes
{ speaker, role, section, text }; multi-paragraph answers stay together and speaker labels are stripped from the text. - Prepared remarks vs Q&A — analyse management's script separately from analyst questions.
- Roles — executives get their title from the "Call participants" list (last-name matching handles "Ed" vs "Edward"), the moderator is
Operator, sell-side questioners areAnalyst(older transcripts include the firm, e.g.Barclays -- Analyst). - Robust — retries with exponential backoff on rate limits and server errors, scrapes 3 pages in parallel, and a failed page becomes an error record instead of crashing the run.
- Export anywhere — download results as JSON, CSV, Excel, HTML, XML or JSONL, or read them through the Apify API.

The Actor uses pay-per-event pricing — you only pay for transcripts delivered:
| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Actor start | $0.005 per run |
transcript-result | $0.01 per transcript ($10 per 1,000 transcripts) |
Example: 1 run × 100 transcripts = $0.005 + $1.00 = $1.005.
The Apify free plan includes $5 of monthly credit, enough for about 499 transcripts in a single run each month. Error items are free. Set a maximum cost per run and the Actor stops cleanly once it's reached.

FAQ
Which companies are covered? Only calls whose transcripts are published by The Motley Fool: thousands of US-listed companies per quarter, including most large and mid caps, plus many small caps and ADRs. If a call isn't published there, this Actor can't return it.
How far back does it go? Transcripts go back several years. Older transcripts use a slightly different page layout; both layouts are supported.
How fast are new calls available? Typically within 1–3 days of the call.
Can I schedule it? Yes. Schedule the Actor daily with dateFrom left empty (last 30 days) and a ticker list to collect new calls as they appear.
How fast is it? Are there limits? It fetches 3 transcript pages in parallel. maxItems (default 50, 0 = no limit) caps the number of transcripts, and a maximum cost per run stops the run cleanly.
Why did a ticker return nothing? Either no call was published in the date range, or the source didn't cover it. Widen the range (e.g. the last 100 days covers one full quarter).
How is Q&A detected? By the transcript's "Questions & Answers" heading where present, otherwise from the operator's first question-queue announcement ("Your first question comes from…").
Is it accurate? The text is the source's transcript verbatim. Segmentation and roles are derived automatically and are accurate on the vast majority of calls, but unusual formats (e.g. no operator, webcast-only events) may put everything in prepared.
Is it legal to scrape earnings call transcripts? This Actor only reads publicly accessible pages; it does not log in or bypass any access controls. However, transcripts are copyrighted by their publishers — you are responsible for making sure your use of the data (storage, redistribution, model training, commercial use) complies with the source's terms and applicable law. If in doubt, consult a lawyer. Intended for personal research and analysis.
Is this an official Motley Fool API? No. This is an unofficial tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by The Motley Fool or any company whose calls are transcribed.
