Oregon Business Registry - Entities, Agents & Addresses

Every business registered in Oregon appears in the Secretary of State's registry, along with the parties behind it and the addresses on record. This actor turns that registry into a charged-per-record search, filter and aggregate tool: find a business by name, pull every role on one registry number, search by registered agent, or aggregate the register.

What it covers

565,827 registered entities across 1,577,810 role records - the state's business register, carrying:

• the entity type - 21 exact values, led by DOMESTIC LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANY (894,925), ASSUMED BUSINESS NAME (233,948), DOMESTIC BUSINESS CORPORATION (138,299), nonprofit corporations, foreign entities, professional corporations, partnerships, cooperatives and business trusts
• the party for each role - a natural person (first / middle / last / suffix) or an organization, whichever the state recorded (notOfRecordEntity carries the organization on the 161 rows where the party named is not the record entity itself, such as a mailing address held by an outside firm)
• the full address per role - street, address continued, city, state (67 values), ZIP
• the organizing jurisdiction - 117 values
• the registry date, and a link to the Secretary of State's own name-search record for the business

The fine print that matters

A registry number is not a business record - it is a stack of roles. This table stores one row per party role, so a business appears several times: PRINCIPAL PLACE OF BUSINESS (560,800), REGISTERED AGENT (450,601), MAILING ADDRESS (448,925) and AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE (117,484). That is 2.79 rows per entity, so reporting 1.58M as the business count would overstate by nearly three times - the entity count is 565,827. Every record names its role, and role is a filter, so one registry number returns all of a business's roles together.

This registry has no status column. There is no Active, Inactive or Dissolved field anywhere in it, so this actor cannot tell you whether a business is still in good standing - only what is on record. That is a limitation of the source, not of the actor, and nothing here implies a currency the data does not carry.

An assumed business name is an entity type in its own right. ASSUMED BUSINESS NAME rows (233,948) are DBA registrations, and entityOfRecordNumber links one back to the underlying entity - but it is populated on only 155,819 of 1,577,810 rows, because it applies to that one role. Blank is the norm here, not a defect. Each record flags isAssumedBusinessName so the two are easy to separate.

Name fields are substring-matched, so personName=SMITH also returns GOLDSMITH - useful when you want it, and worth knowing when you do not.
