Brazil Trademark Search (INPI)

Check any brand name against the entire Brazilian trademark register in seconds: 3.4 million+ active trademarks from INPI (Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial). The data is rebuilt every week from INPI's official open data.

There is no login, no CAPTCHA and no scraping of INPI's website, so runs don't break when INPI changes its pages.

What it does

Trademark names	Active marks that look or sound similar, with a similarity score (default cut-off 85%, adjustable 80–100%). Matching is phonetic and textual and tuned for Portuguese, so "Bella Pet" finds "BELA PETS".
Company CNPJs	Every active trademark owned by the company.
INPI process numbers	The public record of each process.

Each record includes the process number, the mark name, the status (normalized plus the original INPI text), the filing and expiry dates, the owner (companies only, see Privacy), the owner's state and the Nice classes.

Use cases

• Trademark clearance before launching a brand in Brazil. If a name comes back with no conflict, that is the answer you need.
• Due diligence and M&A. List every brand a Brazilian company owns from its CNPJ.
• Market-entry checks for foreign companies selling into Brazil (marketplaces, e-commerce, franchising).
• AI agents and pipelines that need a Brazil trademark lookup as a tool. The output is clean JSON with English field names.

status is one of registered, pending, pending_opposition, pending_appeal or other.

Pricing

You pay per query. You are never charged for errors, such as an invalid CNPJ or a temporary outage; those go to the ERRORS record in the key-value store.

Coverage and limits

• Only active marks are included: registered, pending, or under opposition or appeal. Extinct, archived, rejected and cancelled marks are excluded, because they no longer block a new filing.
• The database is rebuilt weekly from INPI open data. Every item carries databaseUpdatedAt.
• Similarity is a screening tool, not legal advice. A final clearance opinion should come from a Brazilian IP attorney.

Privacy

When the owner is an individual (pessoa física), the owner name is replaced with "pessoa física". This follows the data-minimization principle of Brazil's LGPD. CPFs are never returned.
